Tap your foot? Whistle? Hum a tune?I think you count too. Musician isn't a some high-and-mighty state. It's just being human.I think by segmenting so much we all miss out. Musicians do best when we get community input (just look at New Orleans!) -- not just academic or commercialized competition. It's not bad to hustle. But it's nice to have a mix of voices. Some going all-in. Some expressing the depths of the soul with no expectation of reward. But even bigger than that, the coolest thing is watching people decide to play at whatever level. Even cooler: Watching them decide to write. I hope you do. It's never too late. In this episode of Tea with Self, I share a truth that surfaced quietly one sleepless night, a truth I didn't know I'd been resisting: I no longer want to do in-person work. Not because I'm giving up, but because I'm growing out of it. After years of holding space for others, through one-to-one sessions, group programmes, and live events, I've realised that the impact I once sought in rooms now lives through my words, my voice, and my energy. The connection remains, but the form has changed. This episode is about refinement, the art of releasing what no longer fits so you can honour what truly does. It's about recognising that your worth isn't measured by how much you give, but by how intentionally you live. Here's to becoming quieter, truer, and more precise in how we show up. Not chasing presence, but being it. For reflections and resources, visit Kiransinghuk.com and explore my Digital Library. Wie viel Scrum-Wissen brauchst du als Product Owner?

Die Produktwerker

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 29, 2025 42:05

We’ve seen a swag of new Chinese models in recent months and the competitive nature of the new vehicle market just gets more intense – and with continual price cuts and incentives one wonders where it will end up but the Chinese brands are intent on gaining significant market share in a short time. I’ve just driven GWM’s first plug-in hybrid – the Haval H6 GT Ultra PHEV SUV with an impressive electric only range of 180kms, combining a 1.5-liltre turbo-petrol engine with front and rear electric motors and a high voltage 35.4kWhour battery. This plug-in hybrid is $9,000 dearer to the pure petrol model, $53,990 drive-away plus a free wall charger for a limited period. Highly equipped and with numerous drive modes. This coupe-styled SUV is well built with more than acceptable quality but as a driver I did not enjoy it as much as the Jaecoo J7 SHS plug-in hybrid of a few weeks back. Part of the problem is that the Chinese want you to think you driving a computer on wheels – everything is activated by a touchscreen and its simply frustrating. Warranty 7-7years/unlimited km with battery warranty at 8-years. The Haval H6 GT Ultra PHEV offers much but for me there are better options.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Bring Focus to Your Refinement Meetings - Mike CohnYour team is spending too much time in product backlog refinement. How can I make such a bold claim since I didn't participate in your most recent refinement meeting? I can make it because the vast majority of teams spend too much time refining their product backlogs. So I'm playing the odds, and betting your team is among them. Teams spend too long in refinement because they misunderstand the purpose of refinement, so let's start there. As a reminder:The purpose of backlog refinement is to ensure the highest priority items are small and sufficiently understood that they can most likely be completed within a single iteration. This means that during a refinement meeting the team does not need to get answers to every conceivable question about each backlog item. Some questions can be answered during the iteration without quashing the feasibility of finishing the backlog item in the iteration. For example, suppose a team wants to know how long a failed transaction should be retried. Perhaps 30 seconds? A minute? Two? The product owner says she's not sure but she'll decide within a couple of days.Even if the team doesn't get that answer until after the iteration has begun, that's fine. The team should not need to have all questions answered or all open issues resolved before an item is brought into an iteration. In this example, whatever answer the product owner provides about the retry duration will not affect the two concerns of backlog refinement: Is the item small enough to be brought into an iteration? Is it sufficiently understood to be completed within an iteration? This means that the amount of time spent retrying failed transactions should not be discussed during refinement. (Actually it could warrant just the briefest discussion to confirm that the retry period is minutes—not months, because *that* difference could matter.)From just this example we can see that some questions do not need to be discussed during refinement. Sure, the team will eventually need to know how long the product owner wants to retry transactions. But team members don't need to know that during refinement. And they don't even necessarily need to know it before starting work on the item.Conversations between team members and their product owner during refinement should be focused on confirming an item is small and well understood. Discussions beyond that are often very fun, but they're best had either during the iteration itself or possibly the sprint planning meeting.Keeping off-topic discussions out of your refinement meetings will shorten those meetings with no adverse effect on meeting your iteration goals, which will help you succeed,The Main Reason Refinement Bogs Down Focus on the Two Concerns of Backlog Refinement How to connect with AgileDad:- [website] https://www.agiledad.com/- [instagram] https://www.instagram.com/agile_coach/- [facebook] https://www.facebook.com/RealAgileDad/- [Linkedin] https://www.linkedin.com/in/leehenson/

As Dragon Con 2025 approaches, the air is thick with anticipation, and at the center of the excitement is the incomparable Charles "Rock God of Podcasting" McFall. Known for his captivating voice, insightful conversations, and passion for all things pop culture, McFall is a podcasting pioneer who has become a beloved figure in the digital media world. He's not just a voice, but a force shaping the conversation around fandom and entertainment. In a recent discussion, McFall offered a glimpse into the incredible plans for Dragon Con 2025. This year, fans can expect an even more immersive and engaging experience, with a focus on expanded gaming, a deeper dive into literature and science, and a star-studded guest list that includes actors from hit shows like The Magicians and Supergirl. McFall's role as the Director of Digital Media at Dragon Con means he's at the forefront of amplifying these voices and bringing the magic of the convention to an even wider audience. Web: https://www.dragoncon.org/ About: Dragon Con, a titan of pop culture conventions, has a rich and fascinating history that reflects the evolution of fandom itself. What began as a small gathering of enthusiasts in a single hotel has blossomed into a multi-venue, multi-genre extravaganza that draws tens of thousands of attendees each year. The Origins: A Small Gathering of Fans (1987-1989) Dragon Con's story begins in 1987 in Atlanta, Georgia. It was founded by a group of local science fiction and gaming fans who were part of an organization called the Dragon Alliance of Gamers and Role-Players (DAGR). The convention was initially a project of this group, with a board of directors that included John Bunnell, David Cody, Robert Dennis, Mike Helba, Pat Henry, and Ed Kramer. The name "Dragon" was inspired by Kramer's home computer, a Dragon 64, which also hosted a bulletin board system that served as a central hub for the group. The inaugural Dragon*Con (as it was originally stylized) was held at the Pierremont Plaza Hotel and attracted a modest 1,400 fans. It featured notable guests like author Michael Moorcock and Dungeons & Dragons co-creator Gary Gygax, and even included a performance by Blue Öyster Cult's Eric Bloom, singing songs inspired by Moorcock. This early convention established a key tradition: a big-tent approach that brought together different facets of geek culture. The event grew quickly. By 1989, with Anne McCaffrey as the Guest of Honor, attendance had more than doubled, prompting a move to the Omni Hotel and Convention Center to accommodate the swelling crowd. Rapid Expansion and Diversification (1990s-2000s) The 1990s and 2000s saw Dragon Con's explosive growth. The convention became known for its "big tent" philosophy, bringing together fans of everything from sci-fi and fantasy to comics, gaming, and anime. Key milestones during this period include: * Move to multiple hotels: As attendance soared, the convention expanded to encompass a cluster of downtown Atlanta hotels, including the Hyatt Regency, Marriott Marquis, and Hilton Atlanta. This interconnected "campus" of hotels, linked by skywalks and bridges, became a hallmark of the Dragon Con experience.
 * The Parade: The annual Dragon Con Parade down Peachtree Street, a showcase of elaborate and creative cosplay, was first held in 2002. It has since become a beloved and widely recognized part of the convention, drawing thousands of participants and spectators. * Charitable efforts: Dragon Con established a strong charitable component, raising money for various causes. The annual Robert A. Heinlein "Pay It Forward" blood drive, which began in 2002, is consistently one of the largest convention-based blood drives in the country.
 * Programming: The number of programming tracks and events expanded exponentially, covering a vast range of topics from writing and alternate history to robotics and space science. A New Era: Growth and Refinement (2010s-Present) In 2013, the convention officially dropped the asterisk from its name, becoming "Dragon Con," following a legal restructuring that severed ties with one of the original founders. This marked a new era of management and growth. In recent years, Dragon Con has continued to thrive, reaching a pre-pandemic attendance of over 85,000 in 2019. Post-pandemic, the convention has implemented attendance caps to ensure a safer and more manageable experience for all. While still a massive event, the focus has shifted to maintaining a high-quality experience, with an emphasis on unique programming, engaging workshops, and a strong sense of community. Today, Dragon Con stands as one of the world's premier pop culture conventions. It's a place where fans can not only meet their favorite celebrities and artists but also connect with fellow enthusiasts, celebrate their passions, and immerse themselves in a vibrant, inclusive, and unforgettable weekend of geek culture. August 2025 Energy Forecast: The Harmonic Month of Refinement – Choosing Resonance Over Residue Welcome to the August 2025 Energy Forecast. This is a month of crystalline precision—not upheaval, but refinement. What once asked to be purged has already left. Now, the focus becomes gentler, quieter, more intentional. This is not about clearing debris—it's about honoring the shape of what remains.Throughout August, you are invited into an advanced layer of vibrational discernment: choosing what resonates over what lingers. Choosing Soul truth over softened truths. Choosing to withhold what is sacred rather than overexpose your becoming. Choosing to move in alignment rather than urgency. This is the harmonic month of refinement—a calibration into clarity. We begin with Theme 1: The Frequency of Refusal, where integrity sharpens through what you no longer allow. Refusal isn't resistance—it is refinement. It is how you choose resonance over residue.Theme 2: Radiance Through Refinement reminds us that strength doesn't always roar. Sometimes, it hums. Power this month emerges through subtleties—through micro-calibrations, inner precision, and the quiet authority of coherence. With Theme 3: Soul Silence, movement may slow, but the signal becomes strong. In this space of sacred stillness, inner instruction amplifies. You are not stuck. You are receiving.Theme 4: Prismatic Core Alignment brings the full spectrum of your Soul online. The lightline becomes color. The tone becomes image. You begin to see and feel your unique Soul frequency, not just intuit it.Theme 5: The Edge of Expression is a moment of sacred risk. What has remained internal now presses outward—through voice, vision, vulnerability. The throat and solar plexus harmonize to let your Soul lead in form.Yet, Theme 6: The Sacred Act of Withholding teaches a parallel truth: Not all that is received must be shared. Energetic privacy becomes a power. Sometimes, the most aligned action is non-disclosure.Theme 7: Harmonic Extraction guides you in removing what no longer fits—not with force, but with gentle precision. This is frequency surgery: releasing without trauma, disruption, or backlash.Theme 8: Timeline Shedding arrives with love. It invites the graceful dissolution of Soul assignments that have reached completion. Not with guilt or fear—but with deep gratitude and readiness. We close the month with Theme 9: Embodied Reverberation—where the refinement becomes rhythm. There is no more input needed. You walk now as the tone you've chosen. Your field carries what you've become. This August is not about initiation. It is about reverberation. Not about force—but frequency. Not about urgency—but purity. You are not becoming new. You are refining what's true. You are not here to rush. You are here to resonate.—

Are You Refining Your Backlog Enough (or Too Often)? - Mike CohnHi V. Lee,Ever felt like your backlog refinement meetings are either way too long or painfully unproductive? You're not alone.Backlog refinement can be a game-changer—or a time sink. The difference? How well you understand the purpose. So, let's get clear. Refinement is when a team and its product owner look at the top items on the product backlog to make sure each is sufficiently well understood and small enough to be brought into the next sprint. That means breaking down large items, adding detail, estimating effort, and generally getting your stories “ready” for the team to work on.Great refinement helps your team:Avoid surprises during sprint planningReduce rework due to misunderstood storiesDeliver value faster, with fewer blockerOnce per sprint works well for teams that like fewer meetings. Keep in mind that the meeting will be longer, though.Once per week can help avoid long, draining sessions—especially if your once-per-sprint meetings are creeping past two hours. What Is Product Backlog Refinement? How Often Should You Do It?Most teams will either do a refinement meeting once per sprint or once per week. What I don't recommend is going beyond that.I've worked with teams in the past that were running 2–3 refinement meetings per week, each an hour or more. Unless your backlog is in serious disarray or your product is unusually complex, that's overkill. And remember—refinement doesn't only happen in meetings. It's perfectly fine for a product owner and a few team members to huddle up outside the scheduled meeting to split a story or clarify details.Keep your refinement meetings focused, lightweight, and appropriately timed—and you'll spend more time delivering value instead of just talking about it. That's a great way to succeed with agile. How to connect with AgileDad:- [website] https://www.agiledad.com/- [instagram] https://www.instagram.com/agile_coach/- [facebook] https://www.facebook.com/RealAgileDad/- [Linkedin] https://www.linkedin.com/in/leehenson/

Once men learn that being the 'nice guy' doesn't work, they usually get led down the path of being the bad boy. They'll be playful, banter with her, bust her chops. While this is important when it comes to getting her attracted to you, it's not the complete picture.
