Mometu President Bryan Louzil joins Nicole and Ryan Pak to discuss the soundtrack to Mike Judge's 1999 cult classic, Office Space. The soundtrack boasts needle drops from artists like Scarface, The Geto Boys, Slum Village, Canibus & Biz Markie, Ice Cube and Kool Keith. Obviously, we have to talk about "Still" by the Geto Boys which soundtracks the infamous "printer scene". The soundtrack supervisor for Office Space is Karyn Rachtman, whose illustrious career includes soundtracking Pulp Fiction, Clueless, Romeo and Juliet, Reality Bites, and Moulin Rouge - and those are just the movies that we've covered on our podcast. An alien ship lands seeking aid, but when its commander emerges and sees Maya, she stuns Maya, putting her in stasis. The ship bears Dorzak, a Psychon refugee who behaved criminally on the commander's planet. Dorzak beguiles Maya about his intent, using extremely well-developed psychic abilities to control others' thoughts.

A lush Earth-type planet holds the promise of a new home for the people of Moonbase Alpha. When the reconnaissance Eagle returns, it carries an unexpected passenger: Helena's husband, who died five years ago. The mysterious Lee Russell tells the Alphans that death awaits them on the new planet. The Alphans ignore his warning and unknowingly descend into a world of antimatter.Intro special guest: Paul Shipper
In this in-depth conversation, writer and franchise caretaker Andrew E.C. Gaska joins John Siuntres to discuss his work revitalizing three of science fiction's most enduring universes — Planet of the Apes, Buck Rogers, and Space: 1999.Gaska talks about balancing canon, continuity, and creativity as he builds connective tissue between classic stories and modern reimaginings. For Planet of the Apes, he explains how his novels Conspiracy of the Planet of the Apes and Death of the Planet of the Apes expand the original film mythology, deepening the lore around the astronauts, the forbidden zone, and the political world of the apes. Turning to Buck Rogers, Gaska outlines his efforts to restore the franchise to its pulp and serial roots, steering away from camp and back toward the raw, forward-looking adventure of Philip Francis Nowlan's original creation. He also teases his plans for reconnecting Buck's 20th-century origins with a plausible 25th-century future. Finally, Gaska delves into Space: 1999, discussing his work on To Everything That Was and the Aftershock and Awe graphic novel, which translate the cult 1970s series into a coherent expanded universe. He breaks down the philosophical themes of isolation, humanity's place in the cosmos, and the Cold War anxieties baked into the show's DNA — and how he modernized them for today's audience. The conversation highlights Gaska's approach as both a fan and historian, preserving the essence of each franchise while giving it new life.
A cloud of space dust causes a mystery illness on Alpha; an Eagle crew is sent to discover its secrets, but the craft returns only with a strange beast that withstands all assaults and which Maya realises is not a life form. The senders of the beast want elements of Alpha's life support system.Intro special guest: Kate Harbour

We don't usually review comedies, because they are usually difficult to talk about apart from naming every joke in the movie, however in Office Space (1999) we felt that this was such a smart comedy that had a deeper meaning and more to say about life that we could talk about it and come up with some insight to share with you! I hope you enjoy! The Alphans celebrate the arrival of the first child born on the Moon. The blessed event sours when the infant grows into a five-year-old child in minutes. Trying to accept him, the Alphans do not notice that little Jackie Crawford is much more than he seems. When hostile spaceships approach the base, Koenig realises, too late, that the aliens have an agent on Alpha.Intro special guest: Anton Phillips.
