Today, Dr. Kristy sits down with previous podcast guest, Stephanie Lincoln to talk about a different topic this time, keto. In Episode 3 of The Weird Works! Podcast, Dr. Kristy interviewed Stephanie about her experience of being lost while on a hike in the Olympic National Park for 3 days. In that interview, they briefly touched upon the fact that one of the reasons why she was able to survive that extreme circumstance over 3 days without food was the fact that she was “fat adapted”. Today we expound upon what that is and how Stephanie discovered keto and became an expert on this subject and started her own company coaching others to become keto-adapted. Stephanie gives an easy-to-understand explanation of why keto biologically works, what being fat-adapted means, what is insulin resistance and insulin sensitivity and how people can transition to this way of eating. Stephanie Lincoln, founder of Fire Team Whiskey joins Ward to chat about how she helps veterans, military members, first responders, and law enforcement keep each other healthy and well.
In this episode, we talk with Army Veteran Stephanie Lincoln, Founder of Fire Team Whiskey. We talk about creating a digital product from scratch, the importance of not being so precious with what you’ve created that you don’t make critical changes, and the value that you can capture from others who have walked the path before you.
While you are checking in with your clients, are you checking in with yourself? That was the question I was recently asked by a colleague and it got me thinking about our profession and peers. As therapists we preach it all the time, right? Yet are we actually walking the walk? Especially during times like these when our clients may need a little more from us. How are we managing ourselves? Our self care? Our mindset? I gathered 3 peers and asked them to weigh in on this topic. I learned a lot while talking with them and hope you find this bonus episode helpful as you navigate being a helping professional during a pandemic. We hope you enjoy this episode! That’s right! If you are a licensed talk therapist and you are looking to grow your reach and visibility, this group may be a place for you to start. I’m working to bring in podcast hosts who are looking to interview licensed clinicians that can share their expertise and knowledge with their audiences. Why should you be a podcast guest? Well people are crawling all over the internet, listening to podcasts and watching videos on mental health issues. My mission is to help spread the word about mental health treatment and help lower the stigma around mental health..and to do that we need to get you guys out there sharing your knowledge and wisdom and how you help people live their best lives. And it will help you grow your brand and visibility and possibly help you gain new clients! I also share how to create a podcast guest one sheet and tips and ideas for getting yourself booked on shows. So will you come join us? Look for the talk therapist lounge on facebook! Hope to see you there! This episode is brought to you by my favorite activewear line, Zyia Active. Want to be more comfortable while sitting on the couch? I sure did and I went looking for pants and tops that were soft, wrinkle resistant and would match just about anything I already had in my closet. And now Zyia Active makes up about 80% of my wardrobe...want to learn more? Head to lisamustard.com and click on the activewear tab. Don’t think this is just for women..they have mens’ and kids’ clothes too..our family is loving the quality and I love the price tags! So head over to my site to check it all out.

This session I spoke with Stephanie Lincoln of Fire Team Whiskey. Stephanie is a former Captain in the Florida Army National Guard and is the founder of Fire Team Whiskey, the only nutrition and fitness program aimed at improving the health and wellness of America's fighting force. Stephanie takes us through her journey and how she went from a Guardsman, to running the Army National Guards Director of Psychological Health Program, to starting Fire Team Whiskey. She has some great inspiration and sage advice along the way.
Stephanie Lincoln is an Army Veteran, a Certified Personal Trainer, and Founder and CEO of Fire Team Whiskey Military Fitness. Stephanie spent 10 years in the Army and another 9 years working in the field of Military Medical and Mental Health. It was over her 19 years of service with the military that she noticed a steady significant decline in the physical health and fitness of the Military Members she was working with. Being a fitness instructor and an Eating Psychology specialist, she was inspired to research the best and most efficient ways of eating and working out that would work for any military service members living anywhere in the world. After a year and a half of research and development, she created the fitness and nutritional protocols of Fire Team Whiskey. Fire Team Whiskey launched to the public in July 2018. Captain Stephanie Lincoln spent 10 years in the US Army before transitioning out and starting her career in nutrition and fitness. Fire Team Whiskey came about after Steph saw how many soldiers were overweight and afflicted with so many health conditions like high blood pressure, injuries, etc. This trend isn't unique to the Army ( as much as we Marines would like to believe). All branches of the military have gotten fatter, following the trend of the US population in general. When Stephanie saw this happening to active duty military she sounded off with a resounding "Hell no!" and optimized her own fitness and nutrition before founding Fire Team Whiskey, an app-based personal fitness and nutrition service geared to help active duty and military veterans take charge of their health with a ketogenic approach to eating. I am taking the plunge into a high-fat eating template to get my body fat-adapted. Steph will be coming on the show each month to go over my progress with adapting a ketogenic nutrition approach as I am training up for Ironman Santa Rosa in May of 2019. In this episode we also cover eating disorders, specifically my own struggle with binge eating and purging. This encompasses both nutrition and mental health, which Stephanie points out is important to address with a mental health professional. Listeners can sign up with Fire Team Whiskey with a whopping 40% off and get started today. Use promo code "TRANSITION" to save on her coaching.
