Waka Waka! Its Episode 159! – Gerber, Danko and Chuck are hanging out for another nights of talking sports, and more, in the Land. The Guys start the show at home for immediate reactions to a bad Cavs loss to the New York Knicks. The Guys discuss the good (not much) and lots of bad in losing to an injury riddled Knicks team, at home. Toughness, rebounding and Even Mobley are mentioned… Gerber is mad. The Guys also look ahead to another tough week for a Cavs team that probably really needs Donovan Mitchell. The Guys close the first segment talking feel good Guardians team vibes and another  look at Guardians home game promotions for the season. On the Road (21:54), March is here and the Guys turn their attention, sort of, to the college basketball and the upcoming conference tournaments. The Guys follow that with a discussion of the phenomena that is the NFL Combine and the coverage of people running and jumping. He Guys also discuss the fastest player at the combine and potential impacts on the Browns. The Guys also discuss Lebron's 40,000 point milestone and the possibility of a 14 team (or more) college football playoff. Off the Field (39:36) and inspired by the unfortunate passing of Richard Lewis, the Guys devote an entire segment to stand up comedy. The Guys talk their first time watching standup, how to handle classic comedy that may no longer fit our times and some standup routines that they can't forget. The Guys close the show with their own attempts at joke writing. Stick around after the closing music (60:00) for outtakes and hear Chuck tell a long ass joke. Be Strong | Jeremy Wilson | BreakoutThere is so much more at stake for our holiness when we're husbands and fathers. In today's culture, genuine male friendships are scarce. Our friendships as believers should be built on eternal things. In this breakout, Jeremy walks through 1 Samuel by looking at the friendship between David and Jonathan to discuss what we can learn from them. Our conduct is greatly influenced by who we surround ourselves with. Let's spur each other on to read the Word and push each other towards holiness. Let's be intentional to surround ourselves with godly men who push us towards the Lord. Resources:1 Samuel 18:32 Samuel 1:26Ecclesiastes 4:9-12Proverbs 27:171 Samuel 23:151 Samuel 162 Samuel 12Hebrews 3:12-15The Example of Brotherhood From Jonathan & David | Be StrongSnowbird Wilderness Outfitters exists to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the exposition of Scripture and personal relationships in order to equip the Church to impact this generation.Learn more about our student and adult conferences at https://www.swoutfitters.com/Please leave a review on Apple or Spotify to help others grow in their faith. I am thrilled to share with you the latest episode of the Jaded Mechanic podcast. In this thought-provoking episode, we dive deep into the toils and triumphs of a career in automotive repair. As always, we have amazing guests who bring their unique perspectives and expertise to the table. Here are three key takeaways from this episode that I believe will resonate with all of you:1: The Power of Perspective: One of our guests beautifully highlighted how there is so much more that unites us than what sets us apart. We often label people based on their work history, but this guest challenged us to see beyond the resume and embrace the common ground we share. Let's break free from preconceived notions and approach each individual with an open mind.2:Life Beyond the Shop: While our careers in automotive repair are undoubtedly important, it's crucial to remember that our lives extend beyond the shop. Our families, children, and significant others play a significant role in shaping who we are. This episode reminds us to find a balance between work and personal life, cherishing the moments that truly matter.3:The Value of Continuous Learning: The highlight of the day for one of our guests wasn't the work at the shop but the training they received that evening. This emphasizes the importance of investing in our professional growth and seizing every opportunity to learn and network. Let's strive to be lifelong learners and embrace the gold nuggets of knowledge that come our way.I want to express my gratitude to our incredible guests and partners with the Changing The Industry Podcast for making this episode possible. If you haven't already, be sure to subscribe to the Jaded Mechanic podcast and set it to automatically download every Tuesday morning. Why do we garden? Why do you garden? Since we've started Hoss, our mission has ALWAYS been "We Help You Grow Your Own Food" and that will never change. When we first started our Row By Row Garden Show we shared our Top 4 Reasons why we garden. Do you think they've changed since 2015? Let's find out the Top 4 reasons why Greg and Sheila like to grow their own food! Let's Grow Together! Why We Garden | Top 4 Reasons - 2015 Back in 2015 on our Row By Row Show we shared our top 4 reasons of why we garden, first, it is to know what is in our food. Nice good, clean and healthy food straight to our table. Secondly, the taste straight from the garden is so much better than store bought; better quality and a lot more nutrients coming from your backyard grocery store. Third, passing your skills down to the next generation is SO important. You prevent the loss of certain gardening skills and you reinstall that skill set into the next generation and hopefully many generations to come. Last but definitely not least, self-satisfaction; we know we're not the only ones who get a HUGE sense of accomplishment when we harvest what we've grown from seed. It's a great feeling! Greg's Top 4 Reasons | Why We Garden 2023 Greg's number one reason was to learn the skill-set! I've always been amazing at the skill set needed to grow a nice garden and grow their own food! Self sufficiency is a huge thing for me, then and now! It may sound cliche but you never know when you're going to need it. Enjoyment, I've always enjoyed being out in the garden. When you enjoy a hobby, you go at it with enjoyment. It's also my happy place, solitude is what I find in the garden. Cleanliness of food, knowing what's on your food and in your food is VERY important to me. Knowing how they're harvested is a good thing to know as well. Sheila's Top 4 Reasons | Why We Garden 2023 Taste of fresh vegetables, the flavor. I know what the input is. I know that it is going to taste good, unlike the taste from grocery store. If you know you know.  Unless you have that homegrown tomato picked from your garden, ripen by the sunshine, picked in the heat of summer and tasted the concentrated sugars, you have never eaten a true tomato. Garden Community.  It is fun to share knowledge, successes, failures. Comradery around the love of the garden. A hobby that is entertaining, growing, enriching and very rewarding. Positive effects on our physical, mental and social well-being. Increase levels of physical activity through planting, watering, walking, maintaining. Gardening can help keep you mentally active, always providing opportunities to gain new knowledge. Gardening can reduce depression and stress. Increase feelings of hope and achievement. “I grew this”. Food Security, Covid changed this experience. Supply chain issues, Food cost. Gardening is a process.  You can't wait till an emergency to start. You need to start now to be prepared for an emergency. When you can afford to make mistakes and have time to learn.  Just start something. Then learn how to preserve it to enjoy all year long. Then learn how to preserve it to enjoy all year long. “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”  – Mother Teresa I am excited to welcome #FITFAM to the T&T mic, Aaron Brill and Manny Menendez. I have trained for years with Aaron and was excited to learn that he was bringing CrossFit in a unique way to his then day job, as a police officer. Arron was inspired by an experience through a friend that experienced deep changes because of the fitness modality- so he decided to introduce CrossFit and its principles to the other “insiders” and Lions' Pride Fitness was born. Lions' Pride Fitness is a CrossFit Community for those in or returning from incarceration. With over 5 years of experience in building CrossFit programs inside prison, they wanted to continue that community success outside. Arron was lucky enough to cross paths with Army Combat Veteran, Manny Menendez, who he brought on board to help guide the Lions' Pride Fitness process. Arron and Manny share their passion for fitness, community, and questioning a better way regarding re-entrance into mainstream society- regardless of where you are coming from. We all know antiquated systems need change, but what a refreshing approach to take things into your own hands and contribute where you can. This is a great convo about shifting perspectives and providing space for growth and change. What a world we would have if we all could do more of that!   Highlights: CrossFit and incarceration. Community, commitment, and working towards something larger. Perspective and opportunity. Systems and approach. Mindset of what we CAN do. Viewing people up close to lose your own bias. Humanizing leadership and meeting people where they are at. Taking existing skills and applying them to a legal game. Opportunity, hope, and evolution.   Aaron Brill Aaron is 25-year veteran of law enforcement (retired Feb '21), with the last 22 on Denver PD. Aaron spent 12 years as a patrol cop,  and 8 as an Academy Instructor where he found and fell in love with CrossFit, and 5 years as a patrol sergeant. He is a Co-founder of two non-profits aimed at bringing the whole person wellness of CrossFit to the justice system involved population. He is a proud husband of an amazing woman and Dad of two littles (6 year old daughter and 4 year old son).   Manny Menendez SSG, USA(Ret.) B.A.S. CF-L1 Lead Program Coordinator Veterans Healing Veterans from The Inside Out My name is Manny Menendez I am a US Army Combat Veteran.  After multiple deployments and injuries, I was medically retired from the service in 2013. I went on to earn my bachelor's degree after the service. Shortly thereafter I found myself incarcerated at Sterling Correctional Facility; this is where I found CrossFit.  Aaron at the time was the president of the CrossFit program inside the prison and we helped establish/build the program at sterling.  To this day I'm thankful for the work Aaron has done behind the wall and paving the way for CrossFit to be a part of that unique environment.  Thanks to his work I was able to earn my CF-L1 behind bars.  CrossFit has helped me make some foundational changes in my life and given me that structure, discipline, Comradery that I fell far away from during my transition out of the service.  Now I am very passionate about helping those in prison and reentering the community through CrossFit and working out.  I currently work as the lead program coordinator for veterans healing veterans, we are the largest organization advocating for the almost 200,000 justice involved veterans. We run a curriculum, which is based on narration therapy where we go in and help our nations forgot about hero's process some of their trauma so they are not finding themselves in these same positions.  I have a very unique journey, but am truly blessed to have gone through it all, because now I have found my purpose/life's work and that is invaluable to me.  Thank you for your time.  I look forward to the future and continuing this amazing work we are doing, truly impacting lives and making better human beings.    Lions' Pride Fitness: Mission: We exist to bring the full person wellness of CrossFit combined with peer and community mentorship to the Justice System Involved (JSI) population. Vision: We see a world where the community supports people in the ‘justice system involved' population and offer their time, talents and treasures in the success of those people. Training Expertise: With years of success and experience in this field, we can help bring the components of a successful program to your area. We have refined the process through in person application and have seen first-hand what works and what doesn't. Where we apply CrossFit: We see 3 areas in the justice system to apply CrossFit to help break the cycle: Courts, Corrections, Reintegration including probation/parole. We apply what we've seen work into the unique needs of each. ·         Courts: Diversion into CrossFit Community Centers and Affiliates as part of a comprehensive alternative to jail/prison ·         Corrections: We have a proven model for peer lead, Staff and community supported CrossFit Behind Bar(bell)s ·         Reintegration: Access to a global network of CrossFit Affiliates and a developing mentor support system https://lionspridefitness.org/   Connect with T&T: IG: @TurmericTequila Facebook: @TurmericAndTequila TikTok: @TurmericTequila Website: www.TurmericAndTequila.com   Host: Kristen Olson IG: @Madonnashero Website: www.KOAlliance.com

Episode Summary:  This is what we love about our industry! Comradery and collaboration.  Today, we speak with National Pool Partners' CEO Augusto Titarelli and Chief Development Officer Justin Kuperberg, to discuss the impact inflation is having on the pool service industry. Increased costs for things like chemicals, labor, and even gas for service vehicles have strained operating expenses for many pool service businesses and their employees.  The team at NPP put together a free inflation impact calculator to help give business owners the tools they need to protect their business, employees, and customers. It's great that someone has done this and made it available for everyone!  Download Here: https://poolchasers.link/npp-inflation-calc  Topics Discussed:  01:14 - An introduction to Augusto, Justin, and inflation  04:22 - Sectoral inflation and how to protect cashflow  17:39 - Justifying price increases to customers  30:02 - Fighting inflation as a business owner  35:21 - NPP's pool industry inflation calculator  48:29 - Whether or not inflation is here to stay  56:57 - Responding to complaints of “price gouging”  1:06:02 - How to stay ahead of inflation  Sponsors:  NPP  Skimmer  PoolRX  Leslie's  AquaStar  Connect with Guest:  Inflation Calculator  Website  Facebook  LinkedIn  Connect with Pool Chasers:  Website  Instagram  Facebook  Facebook Group  Twitter  YouTube  Patreon  Key Quotes from Episode:  Inflation, in its purest definition, is a decline in purchasing power over a period of time. [...] In an era where costs of services and goods are rising, the amount of profit or money that you have is buying less of those goods and services. That causes inflation. ~Justin  You can't compensate for inflation that you've already suffered. You can only compensate for the inflation that you're going to suffer in the future. ~Augusto  The first thing you need to do when you're in high inflation is to protect your cash flow. If you don't protect your cash flow, you run the risk of disappearing as a business. ~Augusto  People don't look at paper profit—they look at cashflow to put a value on your company; so, if you want to build a valuable company, you have to build a healthy cash flow. ~Justin  The bad thing about inflation is that even when the causes for inflation stop, the prices never go back to where they were. ~Augusto  There are two ways to drive pricing. One is the price that the market will take. The other one is cost-up. ~Augusto

..... And They're Watching You, Too. I know, that sounds creepy but it's not what you think.  Did you know that you influence and impact more people daily than you realize? As a parent I knew right away that my boys were watching me, my every move, even when it appeared that they were enthralled in a movie, game, or activity! They'd say something, or repeat me, or act the way I did. Wow! What an eye opener that was for me as a mom. Now as an amputee I am realizing that people are watching, every move feels like it's being monitored. At first you might think they are just being rude and it makes you feel uncomfortable, almost paralyzing, afraid of stumbling or looking weak and incapable; at least that's how I felt.  Then I decided to make eye contact and smile....and you know what?  People started opening up!  They'd ask if it was rude to ask what happened, if I was a vet, if I'm comfortable in a prosthetic.  Some people would tell me about their journey and rough patches they were going through. Some even asked my thoughts on amputation because they were at that juncture in their own life.  I mean, wow! Connection. Comradery. Compassion. People are curious, they have questions and want to understand what it's like to be an amputee and what makes us tick. After my journey from injury to amputation, and now beyond, I feel it is my purpose, and obligation, to help others. If I have experiences that can help someone else through their trials then I need to share my experiences, good and bad. I have found that talking with others, sharing my story, my journey, not only gives them insight and a foundation to help them along their path, it also fills my bucket up, motivates me, and puts a spring in my step that day. I love sharing my story with anyone who asks. I love showing curious children my leg and helping their parents understand that it's ok for their children to be curious and ask questions.  I wished more amputees were so open, but the reality is that some are hurting inside, struggling to make sense of what they are going through, wondering if they can carry on.  If that's you, I'm sorry you are going through that, but know you are not alone and you don't have to be stuck in that mental space. Break free from those mental and physical confines by sharing your experience, you'll be surprised how healing that can be.  When you share your story, you let go of some of those hard emotions by allowing others to absorb them, listening to you, and validating your feelings and struggles.  And when they share their own struggles in reply you'll realize you AREN'T alone after all, which is such a load off your heart. I'm telling you, it is an AMAZING feeling to share your journey, your struggles, your successes with people who are strangers that become invested and lift you up with their words. Embrace that you are different. Share your story, you may help someone along the way. I know you'll be helping yourself when you do.     This week I challenge you to make eye contact, smile and see what relationships you create, and who's lives you'll touch with your story. It's time to face the fears you have about your circumstance. It won't be easy for some of you but I can tell you that I haven't met a person who hasn't made a difference in my life when I've made those connections.  I love telling people what I went through. I'm proud of the courage it took me to get here. I'm proud of how hard I've worked to get over being self-conscience, and how hard I've worked to achieve things some people never thought I could do as an amputee.  Be proud of your story and the scars you have, and share it with who ever is curious. You will feel liberated and find healing in opening up. Get out there and be brave. Share your journey.  You have so much to offer this world. As always: Be Healthy, Be Happy, Be YOU!! Much love, Angie
