5/28/25 - We'll examine the life of Gabrielle Bossis (1874–1950), a French nurse, playwright, and Catholic mystic whose deeply personal spiritual writings have touched generations. Best known for her diary Lui et moi (He and I), Bossis began experiencing what she described as interior conversations with Jesus later in life, during her travels across France as a playwright and performer. Born into a devout Catholic family in Nantes, she served as a nurse during World War I, and only turned to writing and spiritual reflection more intensely in her 60s. In He and I, she recorded daily dialogues filled with tenderness, guidance, and divine love, texts that would eventually be hailed as a modern spiritual classic. Through excerpts from her writings and historical context, we'll attempt to trace the journey of a woman who lived quietly but carried within her a profound mystical relationship with Christ.
5/27/25 - We're joined by Fr. John Nepil, priest, theologian, and mountaineer, as he reflects on his new book To Heights and unto Depths: Letters from the Colorado Trail. Written during a 486-mile pilgrimage through the Colorado Rockies with fellow priests and Catholic young adults, the book offers a profound spiritual meditation on nature, suffering, and divine encounter. Fr. Nepil draws deeply from the Catholic intellectual tradition, especially the insights of Luigi Giussani, Dietrich von Hildebrand, and Hans Urs von Balthasar, to explore how the wilderness becomes a school of the Incarnation where God speaks through the silence of creation. He dedicated over two decades to teaching and school administration before turning to full-time writing and Catholic apologetics. In the Jubilee Year 2000, he established the Kolbe Center to unite theologians, scientists, and philosophers who challenge evolutionary theory and uphold the literal and historical interpretation of Genesis 1–11. In this conversation, Hugh shares personal reflections, scholarly insights, and his mission to restore confidence in the Church's timeless teachings on origins, bridging the gap between faith and science for a new generation. 5/19/25 - Turning Points examines how thirteen extraordinary men and women from apostolic times to the present—most of them canonized saints—came to see how God wanted them to organize their lives and, seeing that, set out to shape their lives accordingly. The book probes the stories of highly motivated individuals who in a variety of ways committed their lives to wholeheartedly following Christ, and it discusses a number of issues as timely for the Church now as they were then. It is engagingly written for all who are interested in serious religious ideas, as well as in the inspiring stories of thirteen outstanding people whose lives shed fresh light on living the faith in their times—and our own. Among those whose stories are told are Saint Paul the Apostle, Saint Augustine of Hippo, Saint Ignatius Loyola, Saint Thomas More, Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, Saint John Henry Newman, Saint Josemaría Escrivá, Caryll Houselander, and Dorothy Day. 5/14/25 - Today we examine the extraordinary life of Servant of God Josefa Menendez (1890–1923), a Spanish-born nun of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Though virtually unknown during her lifetime, Josefa was chosen by Christ to be a messenger of His infinite love and mercy, especially for souls trapped in despair. Through interior locutions and mystical experiences, Josefa received intimate revelations from Jesus, who spoke to her heart about the sufferings of His Passion and His burning desire for souls to return to Him. These messages—later compiled in the spiritual classic The Way of Divine Love—present a moving call to reparation, humility, and trust in divine mercy. We'll discuss Josefa's early life, her hidden vocation, and the spiritual battles she endured, including intense temptations and physical suffering. Despite her obscurity and fragile health, she offered everything for the salvation of souls, uniting herself with Christ's redemptive love.

5/12/25 - Join us for a rich and thought-provoking conversation with acclaimed Catholic philosopher and author Dr. Peter Kreeft as we explore two of his latest books: The Mystery of Joy and From Calvinist to Catholic: 13 Stories of Conversion. In The Mystery of Joy, Dr. Kreeft reflects on the deep spiritual meaning of joy—not as mere emotional happiness, but as a profound mystery rooted in the nature of God Himself. Drawing on Scripture, the writings of C.S. Lewis, and the saints, Kreeft unpacks how joy can be found even amidst suffering and why it is the ultimate fulfillment of the human heart. We also discuss From Calvinist to Catholic, a collection of compelling conversion stories—including his own—that chart the intellectual, theological, and personal journeys of former Calvinists who found their way into the Catholic Church. Dr. Kreeft offers insights into the shared theological foundations between Reformed and Catholic traditions, while highlighting the sacramental, historical, and spiritual richness that drew these converts home to Rome. With his trademark clarity, wit, and wisdom, Dr. Kreeft challenges us to seek the fullness of truth and the joy that comes from encountering Christ in the heart of the Catholic faith.

5/1/25 - Discussion of Priorities within the Catholic Church and ending the mass murder of babies from abortions.
4/30/25 - St. Maria Faustina Kowalska, a humble nun from Poland, was chosen by Christ to be the Apostle of Divine Mercy. Through her diary, Divine Mercy in My Soul, she recorded extraordinary revelations in which Jesus urged the world to turn to His mercy. He revealed to her the image of Divine Mercy, the Chaplet, and the institution of Divine Mercy Sunday, saying, ‘I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls' (Diary, 699). Despite intense physical suffering and spiritual trials, Faustina remained faithful to her mission. Her writings offer a window into a soul completely surrendered to God's will, and her legacy continues to inspire a deeper trust in Christ's mercy.
4/29/25 - Bishop Joseph Strickland shares his thoughts on the death of Pope Francis and the spiritual and institutional crossroads now facing the Catholic Church. He considers the late Pope's complex legacy — including his pastoral priorities, theological emphases, and moments of controversy — and how these will influence the mindset of the College of Cardinals as they prepare for the upcoming conclave. Bishop Strickland also offers insight into what kind of leader the Church needs now: someone rooted firmly in apostolic tradition, clear in moral teaching, and courageous in guiding a divided and often confused flock. He discusses the profiles of likely contenders — from those with strong curial experience to others known for their pastoral outreach, theological clarity, or global influence — while emphasizing the need for discernment grounded in prayer and fidelity to Christ.
5/1/25 - Of all the theological errors commonly held today, the most popular is surely the denial of the doctrine of hell. Even self-described Christians question whether God would consign anyone to hell. Msgr. Pope explains this false perception: “If it exists at all, it is largely empty, except perhaps for a few serial killers or genocidal maniacs like Hitler.” People who adopt this belief are ignoring Jesus's teachings that instruct the exact opposite. In The Hell There Is, Msgr. Pope defends the doctrine of hell against doubters and skeptics. The reader will learn how God has largely been refashioned and trivialized in much of modern thinking. The God of Scripture has been replaced by the “Jesus I know,” who would never impose demands on anyone. As in the past, those nowadays who invent their own god engage in idolatry. By denying the existence of hell, they choose a false god who is indifferent to their spiritual condition over the true God who makes demands on those He desires to save. We'll examine the moral and legal failures that have allowed Roe v. Wade's legacy to persist, even after Dobbs. We'll also break down how Catholic teaching aligns with natural law and the Constitution, and why the Court has a duty not just to interpret the law, but to protect innocent human life. 4/4/25 - Has anyone else noticed contradictions in JD Vance's public stance on life and values? Our Vice President has publicly encouraged Americans to live by simple truths, yet his support for IVF and unwillingness to protect unborn babies implies a denial of the fundamental right to life from conception. 3/25/25 - What does it mean to be evangelical? What does it mean to be Catholic? Can one consider oneself both simultaneously? Dr. Francis Beckwith has wrestled with these questions personally and professionally. He was baptized a Catholic, but his faith journey led him to Protestant evangelicalism. He became a philosophy professor at Baylor University and president of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS). And then, in 2007, after much prayer, counsel, and consideration, he decided to return to the Catholic church and step down as ETS president. What might have caused such a dramatic shift? This provocative book details Dr. Beckwith's journey, focusing on his internal dialogue between the Protestant theology he embraced for most of his adult life and Catholicism. He seeks to explain what prompted his decision and offers theological reflection on whether one can be evangelical and Catholic, affirming his belief that one can be both. 3/21/25 - One in four women in the U.S. will have an abortion by age 45, yet many feel abandoned by a culture that doesn't acknowledge the lasting effects. Studies have shown that nearly 60% of women who have undergone the procedure report feeling emotional pain post-abortion, with one-third citing feelings of sadness, regret, or anger. Yet, somehow, our government officials and even many of our own leaders in the Catholic church continue to minimize the issue at every opportunity. We know that the teachings of the Catholic church call for an end to this atrocity, so why does its human leadership fail to uphold the message? Does anyone actually care? 3/20/25 - As we enter into a deeper apostasy as a society, looking at the first things, especially Creation, the Fall, and the first Good News, will help us to see where we have erred so that we can correct our course. In Loved, Lost and Found, Hugh Owen gives a scientific perspective on why we need to go back to what God revealed in Genesis 1-11. The modernist believes that the god of theistic evolution used a process of death, disease, extinction and natural selection to produce mankind, and he inserts billions of years between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 11. By aligning his theology with the speculations of fallible human scientists, the modernist sows doubt among the faithful and slips into scientism. This book will cause “the scales to fall from our eyes” (cf. Acts 9:18), to see the errors that have infected modern theology like a cancer. 3/19/25 - We'll recount St. Francis de Sales' teachings on patience, humility, and gentleness through his writings, especially his Introduction to the Devout Life, and examine his letters, including those to Jane de Chantal, a French-Catholic widow with whom St. Francis eventually co-founded the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary. With a message that is more applicable than ever in our busy modern climate, he notably believed that holiness can be achieved amidst the daily responsibilities of family, work, and social life, emphasizing that a deep prayer life can coexist with an active, worldly vocation. St. Francis also offers practical advice on managing anger, cultivating humility, and practicing gentle correction in relationships, drawing from his own experiences while serving as Bishop of Geneva.
3/18/25 - Bishop Joseph Strickland returns to the show to offer his thoughts on the recent appointment of Cardinal Robert McElroy to the position of Archbishop of Washington. What do those survivors, some of whom have remained in contact with Bishop Strickland, have to say about all of this? Bishop Strickland will also offer his thoughts on which Catholic leader he feels may serve as a potential fit to serve as our next Holy Father. 3/17/25 - In a significant legal victory for pro-life advocates, the Indiana Department of Health has agreed to release previously withheld abortion records following a lawsuit filed by the Thomas More Society on behalf of Voices for Life. The lawsuit, filed in 2024, challenged the state's refusal to release Termination of Pregnancy Reports (TPRs), which are critical for ensuring abortion providers comply with state laws. The settlement ensures that these records will now be made available to the public with minimal redactions, allowing pro-life groups to continue their oversight of the state's abortion industry and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations. 3/10/25 - Discipleship: isn't that a Protestant thing? The concept of Christian discipleship gets stressed so much in Evangelical culture that many Catholics assume that - like “altar calls” or the “Rapture” - it's not their concern. Or maybe you're more familiar with a form of “discipleship” that stresses personal fulfillment, moral and doctrinal flexibility, and an individualist gospel that measures success by worldly standards. This idea has roots in Protestant “health & wealth” preaching, but you can find it in Catholic churches, too. Both of those notions are dead wrong, says Fr. Jeffrey Kirby. In Real Discipleship, Fr. Kirby says that discipleship should be the central concern of every Catholic, and that far from being all about us and our earthly needs, true discipleship is about following Jesus diligently on the path to the Cross. A lively mix of personal stories, theology, history, Bible study, common sense, and prayerful meditation, the book will be a valuable companion on your own journey along Christ's path - all the way to Calvary and to eternal glory. 3/6/25 - Never before in the life of our nation have more drugs – legal and illegal – been consumed than now, and in such an acute time as this, it is difficult to evaluate which mood-altering drugs carry moral legitimacy. In these pages, author John-Mark Miravalle explores, through a Catholic lens, the phenomenon of chemical mood alteration and reflects on our feelings of pleasure and suffering and how they relate to the rest of our humanity. John-Mark L. Miravalle is professor of Systematic and Moral theology at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Maryland. He received his doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Regina Apostolorum in Rome. He is the author of three books, including Why God? Why Jesus? Why the Catholic Church? He has debated noted atheists on topics such as God's existence, same-sex marriage, and theistic morality. He and his wife Jessica have five children. You can find Dr. Miravalle's book here: https://sophiainstitute.com/product/how-to-feel-good-and-how-not-to/
3/5/25 - Beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2000, Fr. Seelos possessed great mystical gifts due to his life of intense prayer and penance. His innate kindness, understanding and dedication to the needs of the faithful from all walks of life makes him an outstanding model for those in religious life and laity alike. As a missionary preacher and lifelong friend of the poor and destitute, Seelos was a spiritual father to tens of thousands, giving counsel and hearing the confessions of all who came to him. Despite his untimely death at age 48, so profound was his apostolic zeal that sickness, persecution, and even the upheaval caused by civil war could not stop him.
