With Boomer on jury duty, Gio and Jerry discussed St. John's recent loss to Arkansas, disagreeing with the assessment that their season was a failure, while also analyzing the game's shortcomings and officiating controversies. C-Lo's update featured Rick Pitino's post-game remarks, Dan Hurley's emotional reaction to UCONN's loss, and Maryland's buzzer-beater victory. The update included Jameis Winston's signing with the Giants, potential interest in Russell Wilson, Juan Soto's Mets decision, and the Mets' rotation. Tragically, Brett Gardner's 14-year-old son, Miller, passed away unexpectedly during a family vacation. The hour concluded with Tiger Woods requesting privacy regarding his new relationship and a discussion of Alec Baldwin's reaction to his wife's ex-boyfriend.

Welcome to the 106th edition podcast of Women's Liberation Radio News. First up, hear aurora linnea greet the listener before handing the mic to Mary O'Neill for women's news from around the world. Next, enjoy the song "Heaven is a Place on Earth" an old 80's pop favored re-imagined by Allison Lorenzen. After the song, stay tuned for excerpts of a LIVE round table discussion the WLRN team held on January 11th with aurora to discuss her book, Man Against Being: Body Horror & the Death of Life. Finally, enjoy this month's commentary from WLRN team member Margaret Moss who speaks to us about how human society is organized around serving the alpha males, something we should have left behind long ago in our journey here on earth. To learn more about ecofeminism, aurora has put together a list of books and articles to explore published below. Today on THE ROCK FIGHT (an outdoor podcast that aims for the head) Colin and Producer Dave are joined by the founders of SENIQ; a new brand focused on making outdoor apparel for women. It's not a secret that for much of the Outdoor Industry's history the primary directive when it came to apparel or footwear for women was to take something made for men and 'shrink it and pink it'. Even though there have been a number of advancements in recent years for female adventurers, there is still a long way to go.And that is why Madison Hilson and Tina Thompson started SENIQ. A women's outdoor apparel brand with a modern twist. On today's episode they discuss their journey working at Victoria's Secret and Backcountry, to creating a brand that prioritizes fit, function, and style for the modern outdoorswoman. As they explore SENIQ's vision for the future, Hilson and Thompson emphasize the importance of empowering women in the outdoors and addressing the gaps in the market for versatile, stylish apparel built for outdoor adventure.Hurricane Helene Relief Links:Fuel Goodshttps://outdoorbusinessalliance.org/ GoFundMe for Bubba O'LearysWestern North Carolina Hurriance Helene Resource GuideEast Tennessee Foundation Relief FundHead to www.rockfight.co and sign up for News From the Front, Rock Fight's weekly newsletter! Please follow and subscribe to THE ROCK FIGHT and give us a 5 star rating and written review wherever you get your podcasts.Listen to and follow Gear & Beer! It's season finale time! And my guest today is the whirlwind also known as Kathy Lette.Australian Kathy smashed her way into the global bestseller lists at the age of 17 with the novel Puberty Blues. Since then she has turned her irreverent, en pointe pen on the peaks and troughs, triumphs and total BS of female existence.I first read her with Girls Night Out and The Llama Parlour in my twenties and met Kathy when I was features editor of New Woman (yet another resident of the magazine graveyard). Foetal Attraction and Mad Cow followed, which was made into a film starring Anna Friel and Joanna Lumley. 20 books later, her latest, The Revenge Club, takes hilarious aim at the way women are scrap-heaped (sometimes professionally and personally) in their 50s.Kathy joined me to play pun bingo and talk about why life is in two acts and the key is surviving the perimenopausal interval, reaping the benefits of the invisibility cloak and chipping away at ageing double standards. She also told me about being told off by her teenage daughter, the power of complaining, why divorce isn't to be feared and why her midlife mantra is, if it doesn't spark joy, it's time to toss it away.* You can buy all the books mentioned in this podcast at The Shift bookshop on Bookshop.org, including The Revenge Club by Kathy Lette and the book that inspired this podcast, The Shift: how I lost and found myself after 40 - and you can too, by me.* If you enjoyed this episode and you fancy buying me a coffee, pop over to my page on buymeacoffee.com• And if you'd like to support the work that goes into making this podcast and get a weekly newsletter plus loads more content including exclusive transcripts of the podcast, why not join The Shift community, come and have a look around at www.theshiftwithsambaker.substack.com• The Shift (on life after 40) with Sam Baker is created and hosted by Sam Baker and edited by Juliette Nicholls @ Pineapple Audio Production. In 2009, Fudan University launched China's first MFA program in creative writing, spurring a wave of such programs in Chinese universities. Many of these programs' founding members point to the Iowa Writers Workshop and, specifically, its International Writers Program, which invited dozens of Mainland Chinese writers to take part between 1979 and 2019, as their inspiration. In her book, The Transpacific Flow: Creative Writing Programs in China (Association for Asian Studies, 2024), Jin Feng explores why Chinese authors took part in the U.S. programs, and how they tried to implement its teaching methods in mainland China–clearly, a very different political and cultural environment. In this interview, Jin and I talk about the Iowa Writers Workshop, the Chinese authors that attended, and the surprising links between U.S. and Chinese academia. Jin Feng is Professor of Chinese and Japanese and the Orville and Mary Patterson Routt Professor of Literature at Grinnell College, USA. She has published four English monographs: The New Woman in Early Twentieth-Century Chinese Fiction (Purdue University Press: 2004), The Making of a Family Saga (SUNY Press: 2009), Romancing the Internet: Producing and Consuming Chinese Web Romance (Brill, 2013), and Tasting Paradise on Earth: Jiangnan Foodways (University of Washington Press, 2019), three Chinese books such as A Book for Foodies and numerous articles in both English and Chinese. Due to the enduring EMOTIONAL FALLOUT that can be part of adoption, I highly support the GENTLE HEALING experience of SMGI: Somatic Mindful Guided Imagery. For more information on this groundbreaking and highly successful method, go to https://www.somatichealingjourneys.com Donna is a transracial adoptee, born in the UK and raised there by a white family with lots of fostered children. While she was the only black child, all the children were from different backgrounds and were equally loved. While not emotionally close to her adoptive parents growing up, Donna has always felt their unconditional love. Trauma still came her way, and Donna thinks she may have had less trauma if she hadn't kept quiet about traumatic events that happened to her during childhood. Donna has been slowly peeling the layers to her truth for 50 years. Learning to be a speaker led to her first talk about her adoption, and in 2020 she set up her Searching For Truth Podcast, doing interviews about various topics that touch on her own experiences. Donna also wrote a short memoir called "Lost and Found," published in the anthology The New Woman by Ritu Sharma in 2021. Now in Dominica with her husband and Son, Donna has experienced the most extraordinary challenges that she now believes are lined with incredible gifts for her healing and expansion. //Literatur David Herlihy: Bicycle. The History. Benjo Maso: Der Schweiß der Götter.
