Each week we take a look at the real-life inspirations behind some of our favorite horror movies. All the way from huge blockbuster horror movies to some lesser-known cult classics and the terrifying real-life stories that inspired them. This week we take a look at another Wes Craven classic with The Hills Have Eyes(1977) it's sequel in 1984 and their remakes in 2006 and 2007. While initially watching these movies you may think there is no way that it could be based in reality.. the movie takes inspiration from some real-life events. Directed by Wes Craven, starring the likes of Dee Wallace and Michael Berryman. The movie follows a family on their way to California take a shortcut through a military nuclear testing range when their car breaks down, stranded in the desert they soon come face to face with a cannibalistic family that lives in the hills. There are many reports on this story and it's never been proven to be 100% true and factual. Sawney Bean is a legendary Scottish cannibal said to have lived with his inbred family around the Galloway hills in Scotland where he would hunt down and murder innocent passersby and take them back to his hideout to feast on their flesh. The legend of Sawney Bean is questionable but has remained one of Scotland's most popular ghost stories nonetheless. It is said that he and his clan killed over 1000 people over their lifetime which includes bodies they dug up from graveyards...if this were true he would be one of the most prolific serial killers of all time.If you enjoyed this episode please subscribe and review the podcast!Follow all my content by clicking on this link - https://linktr.ee/FirstClassHorror
