Steven talks about some news again! The Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks single "Shine On" is out now! But before going into that, Steven touch on other news topics. There's a surprising addition to the Cruise to the Edge lineup, for example, and Bill Bruford will be involved in a conversation in conjunction with the upcoming Progject tour. Steven will even review the Jazz Sabbath Show he attended last night at the Catalina Jazz Club, which featured Adam Wakeman, Tim Landers, and Tal Bergman playing jazz versions of Black Sabbath songs. He acquired both albums on vinyl, so will also do a Steven's Vinyl Adventures segment here. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/yesshift/support
It's hard to put into words what it means to meet your heroes. To be able hit record 5 minutes later and get to share that conversation with you is one of the prouder moments of my career. With stories about how he started out, practicing in a shed in Steve Smith's backyard, to walking into Electric Ladyland in New York City for a record date where the horn section was Michael and Randy Brecker and Barry Rogers, we cover a lot of ground in this conversation. John Tesh, Tracy Chapman, Chick Corea, Lee Ritenour, Vince Neal, Billy Cobham, Mike Stern, Vinnie Colaiuta, Frank Gambale, about a thousand other legendary recording artists grace the pages of Tim's career highlights. I hope this is the first of many times I get to pick Tim's brain and share it with you. The man is a treasure chest of knowledge and experience with some of the best music and bass related stories you could hope to hear. My friend Tim Landers sadly passed away this weekend. This was a podcast I did with him years ago shortly after his departure from Transit. Many people wrote me over the years to repost it after having heard it since they found what he said to be insightful. I wanted to make sure it was on the Internet so the world could see what an amazing human he was and for friends that want to hear him talk again. RIP Tim.
The world learn of Tim Landers' passing on February 3rd, 2019. This episode shares Tim's one and only appearance on our show, which occurred in June 2015. Rest easy, old friend. We miss you.
