Chris van Voorst van Beest is a bassist and composer who grew up in Maine and lives in Brooklyn, NY. Hailed as "a double bassist with an exceptional ability to improvise," (Erminio Garotta - Sound & Vision) Chris has performed and/or recorded with artists as diverse as Frank Kimbrough, Robert Glasper, Gabriel Kahane, and George Garzone. Sought after in a variety of musical settings, Chris is a member of a number of original music projects including The Danny Fox Trio and Garage Ellington, plays for immersive theater (Sleep No More), and collaborates with multi-media artists, most recently with choreographer Kelly Ashton Todd with whom he wrote and performed incidental music for the 45 minute dance piece 'Nest'. Chris also writes contemporary classical music, most recently finishing his first work for orchestra 'Short Story'. The founder of his own chamber ensemble, Chris's latest concert, 'Miniatures and Improvisations', features a broad program of short pieces for trio, each piece immediately followed by an improvised response, exploring the dialogue between improvisation and composition. Chris was awarded a Dutch grant for composition in 2010 to compose music for the children's book 'The Lamplighter' and has been nominated three times for the Charles Ives Arts and Letters award. After that I was hooked,  I found an apprenticeship and realized that rather than repairs, designing and building instruments was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Three years later, I moved to NYC and got the chance to work at Sadowsky Guitars, arguably the best guitar shop in the city. My time there not only showed me how much I had to learn but also allowed me to grow from an amateur builder to  a professional. I was hired to do fret work and body sanding back in 2005, but moved on to final assembly and by 2013 became the shop manager. Over the course of the past 16 years, I've built hundreds of instruments. I've learned something from each one. Whether it was about wood combinations, electronics, construction techniques and design, or geometry and balance. The goal is always to create an instrument that echoes back the inspiration put into it. “The Bass Shed

Nick Campbell plays the electric bass. He was born and raised in Los Angeles and like most members of the city's bountiful music scene he spent the majority of his youth in the annals of music education. It was here that Campbell developed his unique penchant for superimposing triadic patterns over static harmony (commonly referred to as “getting modal”).You may have seen him playing bass as a sideman with (but not limited to): Pomplamoose, Scary Pockets, Charlie Puth, Vulfpeck, Meghan Trainor, Raquel Rodriguez, Nigel Hall, Josh Smith, Kirk Fletcher, Lunchmoney Lewis, Michael Mayo and Moonchild and as a leader (or co-leader) with the bands: Shrek Is Love and Bear Attack. He currently writes music under the name “Nick Campbell Destroys.” Some people think that his music sounds like a deranged amalgam of Industrial Jazz-Funk and too many tri-tone substitutions, but he thinks it just sounds like Nihilism. Nick released his debut EP "Lo-fi Bass Music For Quarantine" on August 21st, 2020, which is a collection of arrangements of standards made in his bedroom during the Covid-19 lockdown. Keep an eye out for his debut LP of all original music sometime in the next year. Also, plz respect his art.
