This week, we talk about The Dark Backward... a movie involving casual necrophilia, Bill Paxton playing an accordion, and standup comedy apparently. You're going to want to listen to this episode because as much as we hated this movie, it's hard not to laugh at the clips we conjured up. Extra extremities exciting an extroverted eccentric! Filth and moisture! Accordion playing opportunists! Licking dead dumpster ladies! Buffoonery based on big boned beauties batting Bill's bits and bobs! Boning your best friend's broad! Leaving your lover when lumps turn to ligaments! Dom Deluise wheeze laughs! Doubling down on the third dick! Beef chiefs, and much, much more on this week's episode of The Worst Movie Ever Made! www.theworstmovieevermade.com
Hello! Our fearless leader, Chris, wasn't able to make it to the show tonight. Apparently he had better things to do like catalog his stamp collection, play with LEGOs, purify himself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka, attend an super exclusive ass party (his words, not ours), have a cake, kick off his DJ career, have an important foot bath, get a new pair of glasses, watch Donnie Darko, repair his extensive collection of dream catchers, smell his neighbor's various lizards, and grab some milk from the store. Bob and Rob took this opportunity to talk about what they've been watching outside of the podcast. Here's what we talked about: The Lost Weekend, Vampire's Kiss, Godzilla Minus One, The Taking of Deborah Logan, and Come to Daddy, and some other stuff. We'll resume with our regular show next week, when we review the strangest Bill Paxton movie we've ever seen, The Dark Backward. Thanks for listening! www.theworstmovieevermade.com

We're having an absolutely legendary Smalltember. First we covered The Legend of the Titanic, and now we're looking into The Legend of the Roller Blade Seven. Apparently they're legendary, but forgive us for being unfamiliar until now. It was made using a system RB7 star/co-writer/producer Scott Shaw dubbed "Zen Filmmaking." According to his wiki, this is a "style of filmmaking where no screenplay and scripts are used in the creation of a movie." We'll see if getting zen delivers a good movie, or whether it's better to... y'know... write things out and plan them ahead of time.If you live in Los Angeles, you can get tix for your choice of TWO live shows at Vidiots on 10/19. What can you say about Adam Rifkin's The Dark Backward? It's unlike any other movie we know of. Let's talk about it!
Cassian Elwes began his producing career with 1984's Oxford Blues, starring Rob Lowe and Ally Sheedy, and has enjoyed continuing success in film. His earlier roles include Men at Work with Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen, The Chase with Charlie Sheen, Kristy Swanson, and Henry Rollins, and The Dark Backward with Judd Nelson, Bill Paxton, and Rob Lowe.In 1989 he produced the independent film Never on Tuesday, which featured a cast of cameos including Charlie Sheen, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Nicolas Cage, and Cary Elwes. The Hollywood Reporter has said that Elwes was "involved in a virtual who's who of every great independent film of the last ten years." with films such as Thank You for Smoking, Half Nelson, and Frozen River (the last two of which garnered Oscar nominations for Ryan Gosling and Melissa Leo, respectively)."What people lose sight of," Elwes said to Screen International, "is that these films cost a tenth of the films that they competed against at the Academy Awards. The privilege was the recognition." Elwes is an expert in the field of arranging financing and distribution for independent films, having done so for 283 films during his tenure at William Morris Independent.Since leaving William Morris Independent, Elwes has been involved in arranging financing and distribution for 23 films, including Lawless, directed by John Hillcoat (The Road), starring Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy, and the thriller The Paperboy, directed by Lee Daniels (Precious), starring Matthew McConaughey and Zac Efron.Elwes produced the period drama The Butler, which was directed by Lee Daniels and featured an ensemble cast, including Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, John Cusack, Jane Fonda, Terrence Howard, Vanessa Redgrave, Alan Rickman, Liev Schreiber, Robin Williams, among others. He also produced Dallas Buyers Club starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner, Ain't Them Bodies Saints starring Rooney Mara, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, and Hateship, Loveship starring Kristen Wiig, Guy Pearce, Hailee Steinfeld, and Nick Nolte. On 29 October 2013, Elwes launched the Cassian Elwes Independent Screenwriter Fellowship, in conjunction with The Black List, to award one writer an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and mentorship from Elwes. Elwes and The Black List plan to award the fellowship annually. Please enjoy my conversation with Cassian Elwes.

A story about sweat, garbage, terrible jokes, and a third arm. Listen in as me and my guest, Kenny, talk through this star-studded, greasy little oddball flick. Written and directed by Adam Rifkin (The Chase, Detroit Rock City, The Last Movie Star), this film has been lauded as a "pitch-black fable of show business at this sleaziest" by the Los Angeles Times, while also considered "a new low in cinematic ineptitude" by Rolling Stone. What is the truth? You'll have to watch and decide for yourself, but until then we take look at some of the more memorable and affecting elements of this film which has, in my mind, hands down THE best production design I've ever seen. You can just feel the oily condensation of the film's world. It tells the story of garbage man-by-day and amateur comedian-by-night Marty Malt, played by Judd Nelson, and his smarmy, fame-seeking buddy Gus, played by Bill Paxton with his typically awesome bravado. The two casually move trash around during the day, but when the sun sets Marty takes the stage and tells some truly awful jokes, with piss poor timing to boot. All while Gus yucks it up and howls his support. One day, hot shot agent Jackie Chrome (Wayne Mr. Goddamn Vegas himself Newton) offers to check out Marty's show which sets the two friends aflutter with excitement that their train has finally come in. Unfortunately things don't go quite as planned... But all is not lost, for shortly thereafter Marty wakes up to find a third arm growing inexplicably from his back. To Jackie Chrome THAT is a talent! Did we mention that this film also features Lara Flynn Boyle, James Can, and Rob Lowe? This movie is so delightfully weird that it cannot be missed. The film is currently available on DVD.

Ryan and Dave are back to dig up a cult satire perhaps best left buried, as Dave finally gets his revenge on Ryan for inflicting "Hard Ticket to Hawaii" on him, all those moons ago. With an equal parts disturbing and hilariously over-the-top Bill Paxton performance, Wayne Newton in a prominent role for some reason, and Judd Nelson before he disappeared off the face of the earth, this film was... certainly something. Also, Ryan detects echoes of Lynch and Jeunet in director Adam Rifkin's dystopian presentation, while Dave waxes nostalgic over the niche video store where he found this movie in the first place.
After a two year sabbatical, Colin Johnson from San Francisco's Awesome Theatre joins the boys to talk about his new film "Holy Sh*t That Was Scary 3: The Cloud". My pal Jeff Frumess returns to finish our discussion about Adam Rifkin's The Dark Backward (1991). Our verdict is yes! You should watch this movie! And do it before you listen to this episode, because we're going to spoil the crap out of it. Jeff makes cool things, a lot of which you can find at frumess.com. And you can find out more about his project 1979: A Year of Horror Business on the They Came from Lodi Facebook page. Jeff kindly mentions my short film The Jerry Show, which you can watch if, for some inexplicable reason, you'd like to pollute your brain with a bit of whatever's wrong with me. WARNING: This movie is just, like, really messed up. It's about a guy who has Hitler growing out of him, and seriously, that's the least weird thing about it. Enjoy! https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B07NN3CM3S/ref=atv_dp_share_cu_r
Friend and filmmaker Jeff Frumess returns to the podcast to talk about Adam Rifkin's weirdo 1991 film The Dark Backward, starring a decidedly un-Bender-esque Judd Nelson. Find Jeff and all his stuff at https://www.frumess.com/. He's a pretty cool dude.
Marty Malt (Judd Nelson) is a garbageman who aspires to be a stand up comedian. One problem, nobody thinks he's funny. His biggest fan and closest friend Gus (Bill Paxton) a creepy, psychotic, disgusting trashman notices a lump growing on Marty's back. Well, this lump turns into the gimmick Marty needs to kick start his career. Joins us as we discuss the revolting, the repulsive, The Dark Backward.

Long time friends get together every week for 400 consecutive weeks to laugh, yell, argue and make a ton of new friends. For Trick or Treat Radio’s milestone 400th episode, we put aside the film discussion and hang out with a bunch of our friends! We first catch up with Bill By Force to talk about his latest crowdfunding project, Don’t Forget to Leave. Then we connect up with long time friend of the show, Stephen Scarlata to discuss his amazing podcast, Best Movie Never Made and his other upcoming projects. In this episode, we're discussing Adam Rifkin's The Dark Backward, a surreal freak show of a film that deserves a LOT more attention than it gets. Truly a cult movie in search of a cult. Join Brette and me as we dive deep into the appeal of this forgotten oddity and also go off on tangents about the nature of cult films in general, as well as various side topics including Nicktoons, critics, and of course, Bill Paxton!
If a cannibal is mentioned, but never seen and never eats anyone, do they still scream when the simulation they live in is halted? This is one of the many questions Netflix's The I-Land never answers! Join us as we discuss the show's final two episodes ("The Great Globe Itself" and "The Dark Backward"), and compare it to other crap we've endured! We have a show email address and we'd love to hear from you! Drop us a line at worstshowonearth@gmail.com. Follow Tocci on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/michaeltocci1/

You will never see Bill Paxton the same way after watching The Dark Backward (1991). This movie stars Judd Nelson as an awful stand-up comedian who inexplicably grows an arm out of his back and Bill Paxton as his deranged, corpse-licking, fat-fetishing, minced-clams-in-cream-sauce eating best friend, as they navigate the entertainment world in an alternative trash universe. Shockingly, this movie was a catastrophic financial flop.
Sean is a stand up comedian living in Los Angeles by way of South Dakota. He made it out even though South Dakota is the greatest state in the country! Sean spent his formative years in Portland OR where he was voted the funniest person in 2014. In 2015 he was named one of the "Comics to Watch" by Splitsider and in 2016 was awarded the same title by Comedy Central. Sean moved to Los Angeles just over a year ago where he wasted no time digging into the stand up scene performing on the top shows in the city while also maintaining a non stop touring schedule. If you're a podcast fan then you've most likely heard Sean on the wildly popular podcast All Fantasy Everything, where he is a regular cohost. IndieWire magazine even crowned an episode: One of the 50 Best Podcast Episodes of 2017! How fun is that?! Sean is also a regular guest and fan favorite on Doug Benson's podcast Doug Loves Movies. You may have also heard him on Professor Blastoff, The Crabfeast, Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction, Put Your Hands Together and ARIYNBF (Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend). Sean is no stranger to the festival circuit doing festivals like this one all over the country. Those festivals include: Sketchfest in San Francisco, High Plains Comedy Festival in Denver and The Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland to name a few. Sean was also a part time staff writer on Live Wire radio and just recently wrapped up as a member of a writing team for a Comedy Central pilot. https://headgum.com/all-fantasy-everythinghttps://www.seanjordancomedy.com

The Dark Backward[1991] Super Movie Ball's quick take episode: Bonus Stage!! Having nowhere to go and nothing to see Peter decides to a bus to place no one has been before in hopes of uncovering a treasure. Boarding the bus seems easy enough and it is and he does. Choosing a sit can be a chore but one seat is just right for looking out the vehicle's bay window and being far enough away from the other riders. The stale smell of generic disinfectant is just enough not to be too overpowering but noticeably present, like smell itself is a rider of the bus, quiet and content. He can feel how old the bus is from it's mechanical rumbles and creaks. The noises could put him to sleep if they were more rhythmic and less grading. The scenery lumbering by is nothing special and the chit-chat he has amongst one of the riders is somehow both better and worse. Perhaps 1991's "The Dark Backward" by Adam Rifkin will light a beacon to guide our movie adventurer to greener pastures? The bus makes a stop. No one gets on or off. The driver continues the route. One the riders opens a bag of rice cakes and takes a small bite. #SuperMovieBall #TheDarkBackward #JuddNelson #BillPaxton #MovieReview #BonusStage #Podcast Follow Us: twitter = @supermovieball instagram = supermovieball Email Us: gmail = supermovieball More of Us: web = supermovieball.com Music By: Intro = M.E.S.(Mack Entertainment System) By Riley Bowman Outro = M.E.S.(Mack Entertainment System) By Riley Bowman

With its primary objective consisting of everything and nothing expected of its well established lineage, the band fastidiously worked on material for its first studio release, Mute Memorials (2010). After receiving positive reviews, international airplay, releasing several videos and doing some light touring under the Worst Case Scenario label, the group re-entered the studio to record EP2011 (2011). The release further widened the sonic parameters established by the previous offering. In the summer of 2011, Dark Backward reverted back into writing mode while supporting its second release. The result was the 2013 release of the full-length Phrase & Fable (Waggletone/Worst Case Scenario) which found the band pushing its musical parameters even further apart while staying in touch with the membersâ?? respective backgrounds. The band wrote and recorded the five-song EP Tension/Release (Worst Case Scenario) over the latter part of 2014 on in to 2015, where it was released as a Pay What You Want Bandcamp exclusive to local acclaim. The band added Fred Vahlidiek on keys and noises for live performances during this time as well. In 2016, health issues forced Nye to take an emeritus position with the group. Chuck Sirloin was tabbed to take over the reins on bass while Vahlidiek was added as a permanent member of the group as well. Dark Backward have recently finished principal songwriting and are currently preparing to head back into the studio for their fifth album as of this release.
