Kenny Lee Lewis has been a member of The Steve Miller Band for over 41 years and is now their current touring bass player. The Steve Miller Band was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2016. Kenny speaks about how he landed the gig with Miller and attributes of his artistry that have sustained him in the music industry. Kenny, also an amateur luthier, took it upon himself to create his first custom signature series model bass while integrating the historic content and integrity of one of our most beloved founding fathers. Kenny speaks about his signature bass ..the Franklin Founding Father Five. Kenny's signature bass is formed with a piece of 200 year old Spruce which was once a used in Benjamin Franklin's House in Boston, MA. Borrowing from the iconic designs of Leo Fender, Kenny Lee built and finished this bass with TruOil gunstock linseed oil. He left all the knotholes and imperfections visible for an antique, transparent representation- not unlike our great nation, a work still in progress. Kenny Lee also inset a silver 1954 Franklin 50 cent piece, the year that Kenny was born, and the Franklin logo is taken from the 100 dollar bill.Kenny Lee Lewis talks about his Franklin Founding Father Five on YouTubeInstagram / Twitter / Youtube / Website / BSA/ View More Episodes

Cohen first got his start touring with stand-out Canadian acts such as Johnny Reid and Amanda Marshall. After moving to the states and hitting the road to play for country icon Joe Nichols and hit-makers like Big & Rich and Wynonna, Cohen stepped away from touring in 2013 to focus on fine-tuning his talent strictly as a studio musician.Cohen has since played on countless No. 1 hits by country music’s biggest stars including Rascal Flatts, Florida Georgia Line, Brett Eldredge, Keith Urban, Chris Young, Cole Swindell, Jon Pardi, Lauren Alaina, Lindsay Ell, Kip Moore, Old Dominion, Josh Turner, Randy Houser, Chris Lane and more. A culmination of his hard work throughout the last decade, Cohen was named the Academy of Country Music’s 2017 Keyboard Player of the Year. Andy grew up literally smack dab in the middle of the pop culture and music revolution of the late 1960’s and saw acts like BB King, Albert King, & Buddy Guy & Junior Wells in concert. Yet, oddly enough, he became infatuated with country music, which his older brother turned him on to. Some great stories about moving to Nashville and a sort of “Baptism by Fire” when Andy found himself playing for a famous actor in his first session… and with literally the best players in Nashville at the time. A collector of vintage guitars, Andy shares his favorite guitars along with some interesting stories about how he acquired them… divorce, cooking, his maternal grandmother / guitar teacher, James Brown, and more. Akil Thompson is a nasty multi-instrumentalist that can play any genre of music thrown at him. I guess all those years of his dad touring with Frank Zappa must have sunk in some how?? Growing up in a musical family and walking the concourse with Phil Collins as a kid isn’t your average way of growing up, but don’t let that fool you. Akil is creating his own legacy through hard work and talent. Akil studied Jazz Percussion and Composition at Belmont University, but has played guitar and recorded with some heavy hitters. Jonny Lang, LeAnn Rhimes, Ginny Owens, Dave Barnes, Mandisa, and Marc Broussard to name a few. Even Brandon shares a record with Akil! (Brandon recorded on a secret track. Don’t let him impress you.)
