(STINGER: AEW) Kenny Omega defends the AEW Championship against Jungle Boy on tonight's special Saturday night Dynamite. Just announced for tonight's show on Friday...Ethan Page vs. Bear Bronson...and Tully Blanchard and Konnan will be face to face...in the ring...as the hype builds for a match between FTR and Santana & Ortiz. Also tonight… Hangman Page vs. Powerhouse Hobbs… Kris Statlander vs. The Bunny… AND Matt Sydal vs. Top Flight's Dante Martin... Another upcoming match announced Friday...the Young Bucks will defend the AEW Tag Titles on next Wednesday's Dynamite...against Eddie Kingston & Penta El Zero Miedo. (STINGER: WWE) Another round of releases in WWE on Friday - at least fourteen wrestlers. In fact, both Grey and Daivari had matches on last night's episode - both in losing efforts. Edge is back. He returned at the end of SmackDown...after Paul Heyman declared that Universal Champion Roman Reigns had “cleared out the division”. Edge got the better of an attack on Reigns, set up for the con-chair-to...but Jimmy Uso cut him off. Reigns fled. Jimmy got speared by Edge through a barricade for his troubles. Earlier, Jimmy Uso pinned Dolph Ziggler with a superkick. Big E is in the men's Money In The Bank ladder match. He qualified by pinning Apollo Crews with the Big Ending on last night's SmackDown. Sami Zayn will have a chance to qualify on next week's show - but he'll have to beat Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing Match. Carmella was announced as an entrant in the women's Money In the Bank match. Liv Morgan wants in the match too, but she apparently has to earn her way. So, Morgan was put in a match with Carmella...and beat her. Bayley & Seth Rollins beat SmackDown Women's Champion Bianca Belair & Cesaro. Bayley pinned Belair with the Rose Plant after Rollins ran into Belair. WWE announced four live event dates in the United Kingdom coming up in September. (STINGER: New Japan) FILTHY Tom Lawlor is still the Strong Openweight Champion. He pinned Karl Fredericks with a PK on last night's Strong. Lawlor and his Team Filthy partner JR Kratos beat up on Fredericks after the match, but were run off by Satoshi Kojima, who declared himself the next title challenger. Also on the show, Clark Conners scored a big win over Rocky Romero. New Japan announced Friday that it will have live fans in attendance for New Japan Strong tapings on Monday, August 16th. Names announced for those tapings include Jay White, Juice Robinson...and Lio Rush. Back in Japan...All Japan and Pro-Wrestling NOAH are both running big shows on Saturday. NOAH has another big show on Sunday: “Muta The World”. The Great Muta himself faces Kenoh in the main event. Plus, Atsushi Kotoge will defend the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship against the winner of a Rumble Match happening on Saturday.. (STINGER: ROH) Ring Of Honor confirmed the winner of the Survival Of The Fittest tournament will get their shot at Rush and the ROH World Title in the main event at the Best In The World pay per view. For quite a while Impact Wrestling, despite having some top tier talent has been considered the "weak sister" of the wrestling business, despite being the only option to WWE with an actual TV deal. However, multiple channel changes and numerous talent defections made the future of the alternative promotion doubtful, especially once All Elite Wrestling started running. Once the coronavirus hit and basically shut down the industry, and in the case of WWE, forced them to make cuts that they probably would not have made in the current business environment, it became open season. AEW had already gotten the team they wanted when they signed FTR. They also picked up former NXT star Tino Sabbatelli, a guy who, if he wouldn't have gotten injured so much, including at least one concussion, probably would have been on the main roster. This still left a wealth of talent looking for a place to go. Well when you not only own a wrestling promotion, but also your own network where the ad revenue gives you a bigger budget to work with. What do you do? You go on a buying spree, especially when there are guys who are recognized stars, a few of whom had worked under one or more of the banners Impact had used. This week I'll examine the people Impact brought on board, their visual message to Vince McMahon and some other news in the wrestling world. This should be a good show
