Chris Hero recently made his return to the wrestling ring after a 3-year absence, and explains why West Coast Pro Wrestling was the perfect place to do it. He talks about the timing and his opponent, old rival Timothy Thatcher. He also talks about his gig as coach and producer at AEW, and the role that Sonjay Dutt played in it. Chris shares a bunch of great stories about his own mentors, Dory Funk Jr. and Tracy Smothers, and the lessons he learned from them that he passes on to his own students now. He also details his time at WWE & NXT, including his original tryout, his first run as Kassius Ohno, his relationship with Dusty Rhodes, and his original firing. He explains how and why he was brought back as a producer and coach, and what led to his departure during the pandemic. And of course he talks all about his longtime friendship with Claudio Castagnoli and their run as the Kings Of Wrestling on the indies and at ROH, and their incredible matches with The Briscoe Brothers. HALLELUJAH, WE HAVE GOOD WRESTLING! Takeover Philly was right at the beginning of the glory days of NXT, before the days of AEW and aborted call ups. Only 5 matches, 4 of them straight up singles matches, but when the "worst" matches are Ember Moon-Shayna Baszler and Kassius Ohno making *REDACTED* look like a Superstar, you are in for a treat. Also, the first WWE 5 Star Match since Punk-Cena MITB. Two And A Half Marks is not affiliated with the WWE/WWF/WCW/TNA/AEW/any promotion or any of the professional wrestlers named in this podcast. The NXT Wrestling Fan is officially in its 30s, and while Miles and Bob agree that's generally a good thing, the episode of NXT that originally aired on December 11th, 2013 is...not great. However, we had no intention of letting a somewhat mediocre piece of television dampen our spirits for Episode #30, which includes: Ceaseless dunking on Alex Riley, which he absolutely deserves Seriously though, what's going on with this tag team division The delightful friendship of Bayley and Natalya The many dangers of nail polish application Kassius Ohno surfs into the sunset Sailor Moon applies a sharpshooter Miss Elizabeth, the Jumping Bomb Angels, and the death of American women's wrestling By the way, that is, in fact, our music! It's called "Learnbuckle" and it was created by the uniquely talented Rafael Medina, whose work you can and should follow via his Twitter account, @EarthMeauxFaux! Football Sunday and the Seahawks are on bye week. Went to the gym, worked on some notes, watched the last two episodes of NXT UK. I think it's time we get caught up on some things, don't you? In Episode 132 of the Young Lion's Perspective, i'm discussing what I loved and what I hated about the last two episodes of NXT UK including: Tyler Bate vs Kassius Ohno, why I think Gallus & Ilja Dragunov vs Imperium is the right feud to end 2019 on, the state of the NXT UK women's division, and why a midcard title needs to be introduced in 2020. It's a full house this week as we've got Sorg, Larry, Bobby, Mad Mike, Billy, and Mainstream Matt in studio. As a special treat, comedian Jaye Cooper joins us as we kick off Mayhem Mania! This week's show is packed. We're a few days removed from NXT Takeover, the Royal Rumble, and a host of other wrestling shows over the weekend - which means we have a TON to talk about:WMS The worst thing for Sorg - when he can't recognize local wrestlers in their street clothes. So much rumbling happened this weekend! We're giving our thoughts. Royal Rumble appearance of Rey Mysterio confused us after watching the last season of Lucha Underground. We have mixed reviews of the return of The Hurricane from Royal Rumble. We're crossing the wrestling streams because of NJPW, WWE, and IMPACT happenings and shuffles. We're fans of all kinds of wrestling. OH: I met him one time at a funeral... Welcome to Wrestle Kingdom two years ago WWE fans. The Women's Rumble exceeded many of our expectations. Sorg wants a Total Taker show with Undertaker and Michelle McCool. We're following the #JacobsForMayor campaign, because Kane. Royal Rumble had matches other than rumbly things. Things happened. Braun Strowman teaching Alexa Bliss how to flip a car is the best thing ever. Mad Mike was in the same building as Ray Rowe, Ricochet, and EC3 this weekend. We're rebranding Ricochet as Rick O'Shea so he can keep his name. Mad Mike and Larry are teaming up to take on War Machine for the Tag Titles. We're talking some NXT Takeover and Johnny Wrestling. We're talking some Kassius Ohno options with NXT. Holy $#!% Adam Cole match at NXTTakeover. As big a night Royal Rumble was for Japan, NXT Takeover was just as big for Cleveland. This week's Big Question: Who left from IMPACT Wrestling do you want to see pop up in WWE? It's Mayhem Mania time! What did YOU learn in wrestling this week? We learned collaboratively that Jaye Cooper thinks he can take on Ray Rowe. (For the record - we vehemently disagree.) We're back after a week off with plenty to talk about, thanks to another fantastic round of listener questions. We look at the two new women's factions on Raw and SmackDown and how they look in their first few weeks. We're optimistic about Absolution and think the Riott Squad could be good, but the general state of SmackDown's women's division is so weird it's hard to say for sure. We take a closer look at NXT stars Velveteen Dream and Kassius Ohno and consider what their potential is in WWE. And, of course, we take plenty of time to appreciate the woken brilliance of Matt Hardy.
