Pulmonary AVM may be rare, but missing them can lead to lifelong complications, especially in patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT). How do you choose the right device and strategy to ensure long-term success with embolization? In this episode of the BackTable Podcast, host Dr. Kavi Krishnasamy is joined by Dr. Brian Funaki and Dr. Nima Kokabi to unpack the evolving treatment landscape for pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVM). As interventional radiology cements its position as a primary clinical responder for acute arterial hemorrhage, what if you could achieve rapid and durable arterial occlusion with a single, highly deliverable device? In this episode of the BackTable Podcast, Dr. Alex Villalobos (UNC), Dr. Nima Kokabi (UNC), and Dr. Brian Funaki (UChicago) join host Dr. Kavi Krishnasamy to explore the shifting paradigms of arterial embolization in a case-based discussion highlighting modern vascular plug technologies.--- Get the BackTable app https://www.backtable.com/app --- This podcast is supported by Okami Medicalhttps://okamimedical.com/ --- Timestamps 00:00 - Introduction01:24 - Trauma Activation Workflow06:42 - Empiric Arterial Embolization Indications10:40 - Embolic Agent Preferences and Value Analysis17:18 - Embolics on the Shelf19:32 - LOBO Plug Use Cases20:58 - Case 1: Abdominal Wall Hematoma23:54 - LOBO Advantages, Cost, and Microcatheter Compatibility26:33 - Alternative Access Approaches30:31 - LOBO Sizing and Trackability35:26 - Pusher Wire Features38:20 - Delivery Catheter Requirements43:41 - Case 2: Retroperitoneal Bleed45:15 - LOBO Deployment Technique49:41 - Case 3: Splenic Trauma53:51 - Occlusion Time and Adjunct Embolics57:07 - Closing Remarks --- More about this episode The panel begins by discussing the range of embolic options and combinations at their disposal, sharing their preferences and treatment algorithms in various clinical scenarios. In particular, they emphasize the need for tools that provide immediate, predictable occlusion without the technical burden and cost of needing to deploy multiple embolic agents. The physicians go on to focus on Okami Medical's LOBO vascular plug as a primary solution for rapid vessel occlusion, highlighting the micro-pore architecture and unique deliverability through microcatheters that make it advantageous for precise positioning and reliable embolization. Exploring its use in cases including rectus sheath hematomas, retroperitoneal bleeding, and splenic trauma, the physicians detail the technical nuances of sizing and positioning the LOBO as well as the long-term advantages of its artifact-free design. This episode ultimately underscores a growing preference for streamlined arterial embolization workflows that prioritize rapid stasis and clinical predictability while leveraging the strengths of a multimodal embolic toolkit.

Road Trip After Hours w/ WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long and Host Mac Davis
The show starts with sweet tooth confessions—OJ, cranberry, banana pudding—and veers straight into the kind of candor fans crave. That playful energy sets up a serious look at what made the Attitude Era special: pressure, pride, and a relentless drive to outwork the last match. We revisit Chyna's 1999 Good Housekeeping win over Jeff Jarrett, unpack the money standoff behind the scenes, and talk about how veterans navigated live TV without losing sight of the crowd's heartbeat. From carnivals and sideshows to the modern product, we ask why the spectacle feels safer now. Is the industry too comfortable to compete? Teddy Long shares how old school pros treated the locker room as an incubator for resilience, why you never “sell” a rib, and how even disasters in the ring become teachable moments for great workers. The mailbag brings raw stories—JBL heat, travel survival, and name association with Funaki, Justin Credible, and Sandman—along with a listener's tough review: her 11-year-old tuned out of a recent WWE show. That's a challenge worth meeting. We also tackle AI's push into voiceover and whether synthetic reads can ever replace real emotion. Wrestling runs on timing, risk, and human presence; that's hard to automate. Between laughs about fair rides gone wrong and gratitude for a growing community, the thread is clear: bring back urgency, trust performers with more voice, and polish the product without sanding off its edge.If you're here for backstage insight, Attitude Era context, and fan-first honesty, you'll feel right at home. Subscribe to Road Trip After Hours on YouTube, hit the bell, and share this episode with a friend who misses that old school spark. Then tell us: what would bring the edge back?Send us a text

August 3rd, 1998: While Vince McMahon continues to accuse The Undertaker of being in cahoots with his brother, The Dead Man & "Stone Cold" Steve Austin must defend their WWF Tag Team Titles against Nation of Domination co-leaders The Rock & Owen Hart. D-Generation-X's struggles continue as Triple-H and X-Pac are forced to go head-to-head while The New Age Outlaws must do battle with Kane & Mankind. Val Venis & Taka Michinoku team up to take on Togo & Funaki, but a shocking swerve may allow Yamaguchi-San to make good on his promise to "choppy-choppy Val's pee-pee." The WWE Network edits out a segment where Sable helps to repackage The Oddities from angry societal rejects into fun-loving goofballs, but don't worry: all of the details are covered on the Podcast! The Godfather and Scorpio square off in a Brawl For All match-up, with the most noteworthy moment being the debut of The Godfather "making an offer you can't refuse." Hawk issues an apology for showing up intoxicated on "Raw" last week, and then he goes one-on-one with the slumping Jeff Jarrett. D'Lo Brown defends his European Title against Dan "The Beast" Severn as the WWF continues to tease a Severn/Ken Shamrock match despite the fact that Shamrock is already booked to face Owen Hart at "Summerslam." Indian aristocrat Tiger Ali Singh returns to the WWF and attempts to prove that Americans will do just about anything for money. Plus, Edge makes another surprise appearance and Triple-H shills for Stridex! Meanwhile over on "Nitro," Eric Bischoff continues to parody "The Tonight Show" to the delight of no one, and a cameraman zooms in on one of the most offensive signs in wrestling history! June 1st, 1998: It's the night after "Over the Edge," and things continue to get even crazier in the WWF! For the first time ever, The Undertaker breaks his "Dead Man" character and cuts a worked shoot promo demanding that Vince McMahon give him a shot at the WWF Title. The boss somewhat gives him what he wants as he then schedules a match on "Raw" for the #1 contendership: The Undertaker vs. Kane! D-Generation-X battles The Nation of Domination in a six-man tag team elimination match, but a returning superstar ends up angering both sides. Dude Love was not able to win his title match at "Over the Edge," and this failure may end up costing Mick Foley his job. In our first King of the Ring Qualifying Match of the night, Steve Blackman takes on "Marvelous" Marc Mero, who introduces us to his brand new valet. In our second qualifier, Faarooq goes head-to-head with Jeff Jarrett, who now has a repackaged tag team watching his back. And in our third qualifier, Terry Funk almost kills himself attempting to defeat Mark Henry. L.O.D. 2000 & Droz take on The Disciples of Apocalypse in a Chicago Street Fight, a.k.a. sloppily brawling in an alleyway with a bunch of weapons. Val Venis cuts his first ever in-ring promo (spoiler: it's not very good) and then he goes one-on-one with Papi Chulo. Taka Michinoku defends his Light Heavyweight Championship against the still-employed-by-WWE-in-2016 Funaki. Plus, Vader provides us with the greatest soundbite of his entire career! Meanwhile over on "Nitro," Sting finally tells the world whose side he is on.... but did he make the right choice? Enjoying the Podcast?
