(STINGER: Impact) Some new matches are now added to Saturday night's Impact Plus exclusive Homecoming show. Josh Alexander will defend the X-Division Championship against Black Taurus. That's on top of the already announced Hardcore Match between W. Morrissey and Eddie Edwards...and a one-night mixed tag team tournament to crown the Homecoming king & queen. Another Impact Plus exclusive show was revealed last night. Emergence is set for August 21st - the same day at SummerSlam. Kenny Omega will defend the Impact World Championship on that show...against the winner of a battle royale that's coming up in a couple weeks. The ELITE HUNTER Frankie Kazarian made a surprise appearance on last night's Impact...helping Sami Callihan run off Omega and the Good Brothers. Kazarian is now set for a 6-Man Tag on next week's Impact - tagging with Callihan and Eddie Edwards...against Omega and the Good Brothers. It'll be Kazarian's first match in Impact since he left the company back in 2014. Jay White's first match in Impact was a loss. The Good Brothers beat White and Chris Bey. They pinned Bey with the Magic Killer. After the match, White made it clear that Bey is not YET a member of Bullet Club. Still, Bey later helped White stage an attack on David Finlay on Juice Robinson. Earlier...FinJuice, Fallah Bahh & No Way beat Ace Austin, Madman Fulton, Rohit Raju & Shera. Finlay pinned Raju. Moose beat Chris Sabin in last night's main event. Rich Swann & Willie Mack beat Violent By Design's Rhino & Deaner. Swann pinned Rhino with a 450 Splash. Taylor Wilde handily defeated Kaleb With A K, pinning him with a bridging German suplex. Trey Miguel and Steve Maclin fought to a double countout on Before The Impact. It looks like Susan is gone...and Su Yung is back. A vignette last night showed her alongside an “undead” version of Kimber Lee. (STINGER: New Japan) Tonight's New Japan Strong has the finals in the Tag Team Turbulence tournament. It's the Good Brothers vs. Brody King & Chris Dickinson. Back in Japan, there's a busy weekend ahead for the big promotions. New Japan has Summer Struggle shows on Friday and Saturday with an Elimination Tag Match in the main event on both days. Sunday's show has the NEVER 6-Man Titles on the line in the main event. Tomohiro Ishii, Hirooki Goto, and YOSHI-HASHI defend against Zack Sabre Jr., Taichi & Minoru Suzuki. Plus, the “farewell matches” for two Young Lions before they go on excursion. Yuya Uemura goes one-on-one with Kazuchika Okada...and Yota Tsuji faces Tetsuya Naito. Dragon Gate has a pair of big shows on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's show has Shun Skywalker defending the Open the Dream Gate Title against Kzy in the main event. Also, Pro-Wrestling NOAH has a big show on Sunday...with Naomichi Marufuji defending the GHC Heavyweight Title against Kazushi Sakuraba. (STINGER: ROH) Ring Of Honor's women's title tournament begins on this weekend's ROH TV...with three first-round matches: Miranda Alize vs. Alex Gracia...Mazzerati vs. Nicole Savoy...and Sumie Sakai vs. Rok-C. Broadcaster Quinn McKay is officially IN the tournament. She won a fan vote on the ROH The Experience Facebook by an overwhelming majority. McKay will face Mandy Leon in the first round. That match is set for NEXT weekend's ROH TV. (STINGER: WWE) WWE hosted a conference call for investors on Thursday. There was no confirmation of an upcoming show in Saudi Arabia...but information from WWE does reveal plans for a large-scale international event later this year. On Thursday's NXT UK… Moustache Mountain beat Symbiosis. After the match, NXT UK Tag Champs Pretty Deadly strolled out to jaw at Trent Seven and Tyler Bate. The pecking order in NXT UK's women's division may be starting to take shape. Jinny beat Aoife Valkyrie thanks to a distraction from Joseph Conners...and Stevie Turner beat Aleah James. As of Thursday night, there is essentially NOTHING announced for tonight's SmackDown. (STINGER: AEW) Domino's Pizza told “Front Office Sports” the company is “reassessing” its “advertising presence” after a Domino's ad appeared alongside the live broadcast of Nick Gage slicing Chris Jericho's head with a pizza cutter during a picture-in-picture break on TNT during Wednesday's Dynamite. Listen and subscribe at www.JustProWrestlingNews.com I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Friday, July 9, 2021. This update is brought to you by IndyWrestling.us. (STINGER: WWE) The lineup for the men's Money In The Bank ladder match should be set by the end of the night. Two qualifying matches are being advertised for tonight's SmackDown - Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins...and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Baron Corbin. Tonight's 205 Live will feature the WWE TV debuts of two men who are certainly NOT cruiserweights - the 405-POUND Odyssey Jones...and the 6'8” Josh Briggs. Both are in the upcoming NXT Breakout Tournament. Ilja Dragunov will get his next shot at WALTER's UK Championship on the July 22nd episode of NXT UK. Mark Andrews pinned Lewis Howley with a shooting star press. Presumably, Subculture will be getting a shot at Pretty Deadly's NXT UK Tag Titles. Kenny Williams pinned Nathan Frazer with Bad Luck. Trent Seven pinned Eddie Dennis with the Birminghammer. After the match, Tyler Bate showed up with a pair of nunchucks to help Seven run off Dennis' pals Primate and T-Bone. Blair Davenport - the former Bea Priestly - made her NXT UK in-ring debut. She used a Kamigoye to pin Laura Di Matteo. (STINGER: Impact) Slammiversary really started to take shape on last night's Impact Wrestling. Deonna Purrazzo will defend the Impact Knockouts Championship against a mystery opponent at Slammiversary. Purrazzo held an open challenge last night. It was answered by Lady Frost, who made her Impact debut. Purrazzo got the win via submission. Violent By Design will defend the Impact Tag Titles at Slammiversary...in a 4-Way against the Good Brothers...Rich Swann & Willie Mack...and TJP & Fallah Bahh. Karl Anderson won a 4-Way last night...beating Rich Swann, Deaner and TJP. Anderson pinned Deaner with the Gun Stun. Rosemary & Havok are the #1 contenders for the Knockouts Tag Titles. They beat Kimber Lee & Susan last night. They'll challenge Fire n' Flava at Slammiversary. W. Morrissey accepted Eddie Edwards challenge for a match at Slammiversary. Jake Something pinned Brian Myers with the Black Hole Slam. Under a pre-match stipulation, Myers was supposed to admit that Jake is a “professional”...but before he could speak, Sam Beale jumped Jake. That drew out the returning Matt Cardona to run off Myers and Beale. Sami Callihan was briefly arrested for assaulting Don Callis. But it turned out the video evidence was a fraud...and Sami returned to lay out Impact Champion Kenny Omega. Tenille Dashwood attacked Jazz during her All About Me talk show. Rachael Ellering & Jordynne Grace later vowed to get revenge. (STINGER: ROH) Ring Of Honor World Champion Rush told Sports Illustrated he underwent knee surgery during his storyline suspension. Rush is set to defend the title against Bandido at Sunday's Best In The World pay per view. The bracket for the ROH women's title tournament will be unveiled at Best In The World. Three more entrants were revealed Thursday: Sumie Sakai, Hollidead and Marti Belle. (STINGER: AEW) New AEW signee Tommy End - a.k.a. Malakai Black - says a clerical error by WWE gave him a 30-day non-compete clause...and made it possible for him to debut on Wednesday's Dynamite. WWE was concerned Buddy Murphy had the same 30-day clause on his deal. (Murphy Non Compete) Murphy speaking with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp. Murphy confirmed he does in fact have a 90-day non-compete, which is up on August 31st. (STINGER: New Japan) Impact X-Division Champ Josh Alexander is on tonight's New Japan Strong...in a match against Rocky Romero. New Japan is running its first Summer Struggle show on Saturday. The main event is El Desperado defending his junior heavyweight title against Taiji Ishimori. New Japan announced the start date for this year's G1 Climax tournament. It'll kick off on September 18th...and conclude on October 21st. Trevor Murdoch will get a rematch against Nick Aldis for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. It'll happen at The Gathering in Charlotte on July 24th. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Friday, July 8. A special welcome to those of you listening on TheWrestlingRevolution.com. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: desk@justprowrestlingnews.com. (STINGER: AEW) The return of live touring for AEW last night in Miami. And there just had to be some trouble. A fan apparently tried to rush the ring during a face-to-face between Chris Jericho and MJF. Jericho could be seen taking a swing at the fan on TV before the fan was subdued by security. There was a big surprise during Dynamite. The former Aleister Black - who was identified on-air as both Tommy End and Malakai Black. He surprised Cody Rhodes and Arn Anderson. The arena lights went out without warning...and when they came back on...Black was in the ring. He hit his signature spinning kick on BOTH Arn and Cody. Another instance of the arena lights going out happened earlier in the show during Cody's strap match against QT Marshall...but it was played off as a technical glitch. Cody won that match, by the way. The Young Bucks are still the AEW Tag Team Champions. They narrowly escaped with the titles...but did find a way to beat Eddie Kingston & Penta El Zero Miedo in a Street Fight. This match saw Michael Nakazawa, Brandon Cutler, the Good Brothers and the ELITE HUNTER Frankie Kazarian all get involved. There were also thumbtacks. AEW Champion Kenny Omega was confronted in the ring...first by Evil Uno and Dark Order...and then by the #1 contender himself Hangman Page, who laid waste to the Good Brothers before Omega slipped away. Getting back to Jericho and MJF...the hurdles were laid out for Jericho to get another match against MJF. He'll have to wrestle...and defeat...every other member of The Pinnacle in matches that will each have their own unique stipulations. The Pinnacle's Wardlow, Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler beat Inner Circle's Jake Hager, Santana & Ortiz. FTR hit the Big Rig on Hager and Wardlow got the pin. Andrade El Idolo's AEW in-ring debut was a win over Matt Sydal. Orange Cassidy & Kris Statlander beat The Blade & The Bunny. Statlander pinned The Bunny with the Big Bang Theory. Stars from the MMA world were in attendance. Jorge Masvidal, Amanda Nunes and Dan Lambert. Lambert took the mic at one point and talked trash on AEW...only to be put down by Lance Archer. New matches announced for next week's Fyter Fest special: Jon Moxley is set to return to Dynamite and defend the IWGP United States Championship against Karl Anderson. Yuka Sakazaki will return to AEW...in a match against Penelope Ford… And Christian Cage will go one-on-one against Matt Hardy. (STINGER: WWE) A future shot at the NXT UK Tag Team Titles is on the line on today's NXT UK. Lewis Howley - one-half of the champs, Pretty Deadly - will face Mark Andrews. If Andrews wins, he and Flash Morgan Webster get a shot at the belts. Also on today's show...Trent Seven vs. Eddie Dennis...and Nathan Frazer vs. Kenny Williams. WWE will air matches from the Rolling Loud rap festival in Miami on the July 23rd episode of SmackDown. (STINGER: ROH) Ring Of Honor on Wednesday awarded a ticket into its women's championship tournament to Allie Recks. Unfortunately, Recks will not be able to take part due to major knee injury. Major League Wrestling announced Wednesday that Dave Prazak - the founder of Shimmer - is joining the league...to lead the launch of a women's division. MLW says it plans to premiere its women's division sometime this summer. All Japan announced that both Shuji Ishikawa and Black Menso-re tested positive for COVID-19. TAJIRI and ring announcer Ryo Okuda were in close contact with them. All four are now pulled from upcoming shows. Similar issues in Tokyo Joshi Pro. Pom Harajuku tested positive for COVID-19. Miyu Yamashita and Yuki Aino were in close contact with her. All three are off this weekend's shows. The Japan Times reports the Japanese government will declare another COVID-related state of emergency in Tokyo - running through August 22nd. That would cover the full duration of summer Olympics which begin on July 23rd. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Thursday, July 8. (STINGER: ROH) This weekend's Ring of Honor TV has a big EIGHT-man tag team main event. He's tagging with Chris Dickinson against the team of Yuji Nagata and Ren Narita. Mox will defend his IWGP United States Championship against Nagata on next Wednesday's AEW Dynamite. The COVID-19 state of emergency in Japan is being extended...and expanded. The country's Prime Minister is pushing the end date through the end of May. The state of emergency covers areas in and around Tokyo and Osaka...with Aichi and Fukuoka now added to the list. Some of the restrictions on businesses are expected to be eased. The encouraging news for pro wrestling companies in Japan is that the ban on spectators at large sporting events will be scaled back. Attendance will be capped at 5,000 people - or 50% of the venue's capacity. That would be good news for pro wrestling companies, including New Japan - which has a major show in Tokyo Dome on May 29th. Salina de la Renta is leaving MLW. Her final appearance was on last Wednesday's Fusion...when she crossed paths on-screen with the “El Jefe” of Azteca Underground. The man known in Lucha Underground as “Dario Cueto” will get a new name, according to MLW's Court Bauer. (Bauer On Cueto Name) Bauer speaking with Post Wrestling's John Pollock. Bauer says the deal with actor Luis Fernandez-Gil will keep him with MLW “for many years to come”. Bauer was asked about reports of recent talks between MLW and WWE, but he declined to comment. Listen and subscribe at www.JustProWrestlingNews.com I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Friday, April 23, 2021. This update is brought to you by IndyWrestling.us. (STINGER: WWE) A well-known name on WWE's management team...Senior Director of Talent Relations Mark Carrano...has been fired, according to multiple reports Thursday night. Fightful reports that Carrano's firing is directly tied to a social media post by Mickie James, who revealed a package of her belongings shipped by WWE was packed in a garbage bag. James was among the wrestlers released by WWE earlier this week. John Laurinaitis, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon tweeted Thursday that a WWE employee had been FIRED over the incident. There were reports of a broader shakeup of personnel in the Talent Relations Department...even before Carrano's firing was reported. Also Thursday...WWE reported its revenues for the first quarter of 2021. $263.5 million dollars - down 9% compared to the first quarter of last year. During a conference call with investors Thursday...we learned WWE plans to remain in the ThunderDome through at least June. WWE does not expect to return to live touring until the second half of the year. WWE also announced a deal with Crunchyroll to develop a new anime series. As of Thursday night, we have basically NOTHING announced for tonight's SmackDown. NXT UK isn't big enough for Kenny Williams and Amir Jordan. On yesterday's show, the former tag team partners signed on for a No Disqualification / “Loser Leaves NXT UK” match. A date for that match has yet to be announced. Also on yesterday's show...Moustache Mountain - Tyler Bate & Trent Seven beat Noam Dar and Sha Samuels in the main event. Joe Coffey pinned Eddie Dennis...as the rest of Gallus brawled with Dennis' pals, Primate and T-Bone. Jinny beat Dani Luna...and Jinny and Joseph Conners wanted to continue the beating after the bell...but Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster ran out to save Luna. Sam Gradwell beat Dave Mastiff. (STINGER: New Japan) Tonight's New Japan Strong has the final in the U.S. version of the New Japan Cup Tournament. It's Brody King vs. FILTHY Tom Lawlor. The winner will also be the first holder of the new Strong Openweight Championship. Also tonight, the New Japan debut of Wheeler Yuta. He's taking on Rocky Romero. Japan's prime minister is poised to declare a new state of emergency in Tokyo...and the western prefectures of Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo. This is in response to a spike in COVID-19 cases. Part of the order would reportedly include BANNING spectators from large events. This would begin Sunday and run through May 11th. It would not impact any shows on New Japan's Wrestling Dontaku tour...BUT New Japan does have shows at Tokyo's Korakuen Hall coming up on May 8th, 10th & 11th. Pro-Wrestling NOAH has a big show coming up next Thursday - but it's also being held outside the affected areas. (STINGER: AEW) Top Flight's Darius Martin tweeted that he underwent ACL surgery on Thursday. He's been out of action since February. (STINGER: Impact) A warning for Impact Champ Rich Swann before the big Title vs. Title Match against AEW Champ Kenny Omega...at Sunday's Rebellion pay per view. On last night's Impact, Swann tried to call out Omega. He had to settle for a video message from Omega and Don Callis. But that's not where things ended. Moose made an unexpected appearance in the Impact Zone. He wished Swann “good luck”...and then added this ultimatum. (Moose Warns Swann) That clip from last night's Impact. Jordynne Grace's mystery partner for Rebellion was revealed last night. It'll be Rachael Ellering teaming with Grace to challenge Fire n' Flava for the Knockouts Tag Titles. (STINGER: AEW) A pair of title matches on last night's Dynamite... Hikaru Shida pinned Tay Conti to retain her AEW Women's Championship. Dr. Britt Baker was out after the match to reveal SHE is now on top of the rankings of contenders for Shida's title. In last night's main event...Darby Allin held onto his TNT Championship. He used the Last Supper to hold down Jungle Boy for the pin. During the match, Sting traded punches with Luchasaurus...and that tussle spilled down one of the entrance tunnels. After the match, Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky ran out to beat up Allin and Jungle Boy. Page hit Allin with the Ego's Edge. Lance Archer came out. Page and Sky beat him up too. Sting returned and that was enough to get rid of Page and Sky.. The show opened with Hangman Page SUBMITTING Ricky Starks - cinching up his head and ankle to get the tap out. Earlier in the match, Starks under-rotated while flipping out of a German suplex and landed on the back of his neck. Starks later tweeted that he's “good”. Team Taz jumped Page after the match, but Dark Order quickly ran out for the save. Penta El Zero Miedo beat Trent. Penta's translater Alex Abrahantes got physically involved in this match - taking advantage of a distracted referee...and hitting Trent in the head with a microphone, allowing Penta to finish him off. QT Marshall pinned Billy Gunn. This was a wild one. Marshall's student Nick Comoroto brawled with Gunn's sons at ringside. As that was happening, Anthony Ogogo snuck out...and one punch to the midsection of Billy Gunn led to a Cutter from QT...and the pin. Marshall was looking for more after the match - but he was run off by Dustin Rhodes, who was armed with a bull rope. Rhodes settled for smashing a wooden chair over the head of Comoroto. Christian Cage hit the Killswitch and pinned Powerhouse Hobbs. The Elite spent most of the night in their new personal trailer. So, of course, Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston showed up and rammed it with a pickup truck. (STINGER: WWE) WWE will report its first quarter earnings today. There will also be a conference call starting at 5PM Eastern with Vince McMahon, Nick Khan and others addressing investors. Moustache Mountain reunites on today's NXT UK. Tyler Bate and Trent Seven team up to face Noam Dar and Sha Samuels. Also on the show...Joe Coffey vs. Eddie Dennis. Any comeback plans for Ronda Rousey in WWE will have to wait. On Wednesday, Rousey announced she's pregnant. She and her husband Travis Browne said the due date is in September. (STINGER: New Japan) A stipulation was added to the upcoming match between Zack Sabre Jr. and Tanga Loa. If Sabre wins, he and Taichi get a tag title shot against the Guerillas Of Destiny. But if Tanga Loa wins, Sabre and Taichi can never again challenge for those titles. That match is at the Wrestling Dontaku show on May 3rd. (STINGER: ROH) Ian Riccaboni confirmed a report by Fightful that he re-signed with Ring Of Honor. Riccaboni said he signed the deal “during the early stages” of the COVID-19 pandemic.
