Wrestling news for March 16th, 2023 with JDfromNY on Off The Script. AEW talent supposedly "want out" after a Darby Allin promo on AEW Dynamite last night got a little too real, exposing some on the AEW roster may not want to be there but instead go back to WWE. Why was this allowed to said, is there any truth to it, and why leadership in AEW continues to be a problem. The stories of Vince McMahon seem to be happening weekly now, as news of him being backstage last week during Monday Night Raw continues to be talked about. Dave Meltzer reported that there is more to that story that WWE doesn't want you to know, and Sports Illustrated reported the same thing but cleverly tried to cover up the story and deny any Vince McMahon involvement. Also, Triple H loves Gunther but claims he isn't ready for a major match with Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. The situation is grim for WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall. He was put on life support over the weekend after complications following hip surgery. He reportedly suffered three heart attacks. Kevin Nash posted on social media early Monday morning that once Hall's family is in place “they will discontinue life support”. (STINGER: WWE) Former WWE Champion Big E suffered a broken neck on Friday night's SmackDown. E landed on his head from a belly-to-belly suplex at ringside delivered by Ridge Holland. E was taken backstage on a stretcher. E himself shared a couple of updates over the weekend. He said his C-1 and C-6 vertebrae were fractured - but not displaced. He also said there's NO damage to his spinal cord or ligament damage. He won't need surgery. He said he's able to move all his extremities but there's no word on how long he'll be out of action. Xavier Woods returned to action over the weekend for the first time since he suffered a calf injury back in January. He tagged with Kofi Kingston at a non-televised house show Saturday night. The Usos will defend the SmackDown Tag Titles against Rick Boogs & Shinsuke Nakamura on Night 1 of WrestleMania on Saturday, April 2nd. Boogs earned the title shot with a win over Jey Uso on Friday's SmackDown. Pete Dunne has a new ring name. He was referred to as “Butch” on Friday's SmackDown where he's now aligned with Sheamus and Ridge Holland. As of Monday morning, there are no matches announced for tonight's RAW. But we are being promised a Championship Celebration for RK-Bro…and Kevin Owens' latest message for “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. AEW is promising Tony Khan will make a “huge announcement”...that he's been teasing for weeks. Also being promoted for tonight, a Casino Tag Royale to decide the third team in the AEW Tag Title match at Revolution. Plus, AEW Champion Hangman Page, John Silver & Alex Reynolds face Page's title challenger at Revolution Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish. On last night's Dark…Daniel Garcia beat Josh Woods, who is the current Ring Of Honor Pure Champion. Marina Shafir beat Danielle Kamela - the former Vanessa Borne in WWE. Also, Kiera Hogan beat Kelsey Raegan…Capt. Shawn Dean beat Will Austin…and Sonny Kiss beat Ashton Starr. (STINGER: WWE) A scary moment for live fans in attendance during last night's NXT. Amari Miller was apparently injured during her match against Lash Legend, who won the match. During the commercial break following the match, Miller was attended to at ringside…and then taken backstage on a stretcher. As of Tuesday night, there's no word on how she's doing. PWInsider reported Miller was being checked out by WWE's medical staff. Carmelo Hayes will defend the North American Championship in a ladder match at the Stand & Deliver special on April 2nd. Hayes made that announcement last night…after he beat Pete Dunne to retain the title. Bron Breakker will defend the NXT Championship on next week's NXT - which is now branded as a special RoadBlock episode. Breakker will put the gold on the line in a 3-way against Dolph Ziggler and Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa pinned Ziggler on last night's NXT…as Ciampa & Breakker beat Ziggler & Robert Roode. Imperium's Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner will defend their NXT Tag Titles against the Creed Brothers on next week's NXT. The semifinals are set in the women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Dakota Kai & Wendy Choo advanced with an upset win over Persia Pirotta & Indi Hartwell. Kai & Choo will face Raquel Gonzalez & Cora Jade in the semis. They beat Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz last night. Also on the show, Gunther beat Solo Sikoa…Von Wagner beat Andre Chase…and Harland beat Draco Anthony. (STINGER: ROH) Big matches are being rolled out for WrestleMania week shows in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Ring Of Honor announced a new match for its return show - Supercard of Honor - on April 1st: Alex Zayne vs. Swerve The Realest. Also, Ninja Mack and Joe Hendry are being promoted for the show - but no match for either of them yet. Effy will face Minoru Suzuki at GCW's Spring Break 6: Part 2 on April 1st.
