It's spooky season, so time to...wait, what do you mean it's December? Okay, we're a little behind - but still, it's time to take a look at WCW's most ghoulish and horrifying series...no, no, not Souled Out. It's Halloween Havoc! First up, Halloween Havoc 1989: Settling the Score, in which WCW puts on a largely normal wrestling pay-per-view and trusts in a fun intro video and some basic party store Halloween decorations to convince us it has a scary theme. The Steiners face a mysterious new team, the Road Warriors remind us of a favorite AWA promo, the Freebirds are apparently faces now (?), and somebody at WCW has been watching Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, but can't do math. For all this, plus the Great Muta's firefighting demonstration, let's go to the ring!Music by Michael Gary Brewer at https://www.instantmusicnow.com/Follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LetsGo2theRing/

We head back to Japan for, unfortunately, the last time, as we close out the WCW / New Japan Supershow series with Supershow III - a heavily (and awkwardly) edited version of Fantastic Story in Tokyo Dome, which unfortunately is not about elves and wizards fighting dragons in Tokyo Dome, but is, at least, a darn good wrestling show. Jushin "Thunder" Liger faces Ultimo Dragon in a dream match (okay, so there is one Dragon)! The Great Muta and Masahiro get another chance after their Starrcade 1992 effort underwhelmed us! Sting faces Hiroshi Hase in a contest for most naturally likeable wrestler! Plus, just what the heck is going on with commentary in that six-man tag match, and what big match got left on the cutting room floor this year? For all this and more (but no ceremony or presentation, goodness no), let's go to the ring!Music by Michael Gary Brewer at https://www.instantmusicnow.com/Follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LetsGo2theRing/
This week Glenn and Brent head back to October of 1989 and check out the very first Halloween Havoc from October 28th 1989! The Fabulous Freebrids defend the NWA World Tag Team Titles against The Dynamic Dudes, Doom makes their debut taking on The Steiner Brothers, Lex Luger defends the United States Championship against Flyin Brian Pillman and Ric Flair and Sting battle Terry Funk and The Great Muta inside the THUNDERDOME!! All this and much more this week on A Work In Progress!
Road Trip After Hours w/ WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long and Host Mac Davis
Strap in for a thrill ride through wrestling's golden years! We kick off with hair-raising tales of high-speed chases featuring icons like the Great Muta and Gary Hart. Hear about rain-soaked highways and the nerve-wracking moments that tested the limits of these legends. We also celebrate the unforgettable Howard Finkel, whose professionalism and humor left a lasting impact on everyone backstage, including the APA, whose antics will have you in stitches. Plus, get a quirky detour into a listener's question from Fargo, Florida, that adds an extra layer of humor and intrigue. Then, we sit down with wrestling legend Tommy Rich at the Superstars Fan Fest in Rome, Georgia, for a heartfelt conversation about the evolution of the industry. Rich takes us back to the 80s, sharing his rock star-like experiences and giving well-deserved shout-outs to influential figures like Bill Apter and Scott Teal. We revisit epic battles with icons like Bruiser Brody and Ricky Steamboat, and get a taste of the intense pressures of one-hour matches with Harley Race. To wrap things up, join us as we dive into the world of wrestling training and memorable matches, including a near-fall from a 24-foot scaffold, and reflect on the camaraderie and joy that define the wrestling community. This episode is a must-listen for any wrestling enthusiast craving a deep dive into the sport's storied past.
WCW returns to Japan for the second WCW / New Japan Supershow - known in Japan by the much better title "Super Warriors in Tokyo Dome." Like the prior year, WCW's presenting a heavily edited and cut down version of the Japanese original - but don't worry, I'm sure they didn't cut a match featuring a legendary wrestler and then-member of the Japanese government or anything. They didn't...right? Well, what we do get for sure is a whole slew of tag matches, including a Rhodes family teamup, Arn bowing to peer pressure from Larry Zbyszko, and an array of outfits you could only possibly find on a wrestling show - plus, Sting teaming up with Great Muta with absolutely no explanation! On the singles side, Luger does have to wrestle in Japan this year, and El Gigante is back but at least this time he's with Vader. For all this, plus a match we weren't expecting to get, let's go to the squared circle...I mean, the ring!Music by Michael Gary Brewer at https://www.instantmusicnow.com/Follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LetsGo2theRing/
It's time for a new series, and this time, we're going international! We've gotten an occasional glimpse of WCW's partnership with New Japan Pro Wrestling before, when New Japan wrestlers visited WCW, but now it's time to take a look at when WCW wrestlers visited New Japan - in the WCW / New Japan Supershow series! First up - 1991's Supershow I, hacked together by WCW from New Japan's "91 Starrcade in Tokyo Dome." WCW's cut an 11 match show down to 7, but did they leave the fun intact? Sting vs. the Great Muta! The Steiners vs. Sasaki and Hase in a prematch from Collision in Korea! The Four Horsemen enjoy shopping! And can Ric Flair defeat the Dragon (not that one)? For all this and more, let's go to the ring!Music by Michael Gary Brewer at https://www.instantmusicnow.com/Follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LetsGo2theRing/

We take you on a wonderful trip down memory lane with our newest exclusive shoot interview with one of wrestling's all time greatest managers, Playboy Gary Hart. An underrated booker, Hart earned his chops in wrestling working for Fritz Von Erich's World Class promotion and helped make that Texas territory one of the most exciting in wrestling history. Seeing everything first hand, Hart talked about all the big angles – including the night Terry Gordy slammed the cage door on Kerry Von Erich along with the hair match between the Von Erichs and Gino Hernandez and Chris Adams – and all the heartbreaking stories of the era. This is the perfect supplement for anyone who enjoyed the Heroes of World Class DVD. Gary gives one of the most in-depth accounts of World Class on record and went into great detail on the lives, and passings, of each Von Erich. Emotionally powerful, this is a must-watch for any diehard fan of the Von Erichs, World Class, or the wrestling business in general. The information Hart gives just on the television production alone is invaluable as World Class was leaps and bounds ahead of the curve when it came to presentation. This is one shoot you will not want to miss! Hart certainly didn't leave out anything from his legendary WCW run including working with Sting, Great Muta, Terry Funk, and Lex Luger, among others. This is the one shoot where J-Tex finally gets its due! Old school wrestling fans are going to want to drop whatever they are doing and watch this shoot interview immediately as Gary Hart has seen it all and is one of the few who are still here to talk about it. Bill Watts. Jim Barnett. Paul Boesch. Bruiser Brody. Hart even worked for Court Bauer's MLW! Like we said, we covered EVERYTHING.
Sting and Vader steal the show again as they battle for the King of Cable! We also discuss Great Muta Rick Rude Ron Simmons and more! 1992 comes to an end with another round of Battlebowl! Join our patreon at: https://www.patreon.com/Gootz4ever
WCW Halloween Havoc 1989 (Part 2) | Franchise University with Shane Douglas 21 This week, Shane Douglas completes his retrospective on WCW Haloween Havoc 1989. Not one but two tag team matches with some of the most notoriously tough tag teams in wrestling history: the Steiner Brothers vs Doom and the Road Warriors vs Skyscrapers. Shane will talk on the toughness of all those that are involved as well as talking fondly about Doom valet Woman and the legend that is Paul Ellering. There is also some time taken to talk about the match between Lex Luger and Brian Pillman and their respective styles (as well as Lex Luger's unusual in ring...habbit). The topic then shifts to the gentlemen on the show that represented wrestling's legacy in Ole Anderson and Bruno Sammartino before the main event which saw Sting team with Ric Flair againt the Great Muta and Terry Funk in a very unusual type of cage match. If you want your questions answered by the Franchise himself, send your emails to: shanedouglasquestions@gmail.com Franchise University with Shane Douglas is part of the WSI Network https://twitter.com/WSI_YouTube

DON TONY AND KEVIN CASTLE return for an absolutely loaded episode of the Don Tony and Kevin Castle Show, (recorded 10/24/23). Check out the synopsis below for the topics discussed and the cool announcement involving almost 20 years of Don Tony and Kevin Castle Show episodes. Some Topics Discussed: Lyra Valkyria defeats Becky Lynch for NXT Women's Championship. DT/KC discuss Becky passing the NXT Torch to Lyra and leaving NXT Women's Division better than when she arrived. DT/KC also believe that Jade Cargill should and will get involved in the NXT Women's Title picture much sooner than later. Grading Adam Copeland's first four weeks in All Elite Wrestling Sting announces his retirement for early 2024. DT/KC think AEW should follow the template of Great Muta's retirement. Have a 'Sting: Farewell Tour' featuring several matches involving Sting. Impact Wrestling announces a rebrand back to TNA Wrestling in 2024. With Impact currently drawing just 80,000 viewers, what could TNA possibly do to improve their ratings? Should Impact Wrestling sign CM Punk? DT/KC point out if CM Punk couldn't consistently draw 600K viewers for an AEW product, how can anyone think appearing in Impact/TNA would do even half that rating? And what lasting effects would CM Punk truly generate for Impact/TNA after he leaves for WWE? AEW Wrestling without Tony Khan in charge? Ownership change? Out of business altogether? DT/KC discuss if any of this could happen within a few years and if so, how? With over 30 Title Defenses already during his reign, has Seth Rollins had a very good run as WWE World Champion? DT/KC both agree: Drew McIntyre should be the next WWE World Champion, and it should happen before the end of 2023. Praise for Rhea Ripley and a special trait she currently has in WWE Plus: Thoughts on Luchasaurus in WWE... MSK (Wes Lee/Nash Carter) reforming in NXT... Some quick memories of old school TNA... A look at the media manipulation within wrestling, politics, real world issues (War in Israel)... DT/KC want some Texas Barbecue; Things, DT/KC would change immediately in NYC and much more! Wrestling news for March 16th, 2023 with JDfromNY on Off The Script. AEW talent supposedly "want out" after a Darby Allin promo on AEW Dynamite last night got a little too real, exposing some on the AEW roster may not want to be there but instead go back to WWE. Why was this allowed to said, is there any truth to it, and why leadership in AEW continues to be a problem. The stories of Vince McMahon seem to be happening weekly now, as news of him being backstage last week during Monday Night Raw continues to be talked about. Dave Meltzer reported that there is more to that story that WWE doesn't want you to know, and Sports Illustrated reported the same thing but cleverly tried to cover up the story and deny any Vince McMahon involvement. Also, Triple H loves Gunther but claims he isn't ready for a major match with Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. What I believe Triple H is waiting for, and what Triple H is trying to say. Tragedy struck this week when Jay Briscoe, one half of the Ring of Honor tag team champions, was killed in an auto accident just shy of his 39th birthday. Today, I speak candidly on Jamin Pugh, the man, and Jay Briscoe, the wrestler... the circumstances of the accident, a medical update on his two daughters who suffered terrible injuries in the wreck, why The Briscoes will go down as one of the all-time great tag teams, personal memories of some key moments in his career including his time in House of Glory, the controversial tweets that followed him around for his career, why The Briscoes never landed in WWE (and it has nothing to do with tweets) and the HYPOCRISY of Warner Brothers Discovery not allowing Tony Khan to pay tribute to Jay on AEW TV. And then... WE'VE GOT A TON OF NEWS on Vince McMahon's latest hush money payment as part of his settlement with Rita Chatterton... Nick Khan's interview with Bill Simmons talking Vince's return, throwing shade at Tony Khan and one jaw-dropping comment that I could not believe... the major segment CANCELED for Raw XXX this Monday, what it's being replaced with and what it means for the status of The Rock at Wrestlemania... ROYAL RUMBLE 2023 PREDICTIONS for the winners and possible surprise entrants... New Japan and Pro Wrestling NOAH produce the hottest worked-shoot angle in years at Wrestle Kingdom... Sting and Darby Allin team with The Great Muta in his final match in the gimmick... MLW inks its biggest television deal to date...
