Today - April 22 - is National Jelly Bean Day! What an amazing coincidence that this episode is centered all around Jelly Belly. (And, when we say "coincidence", we mean it). It all started ~ 10 years ago with a business card Kelly received at a fundraiser. A testament to how a singular piece of well-executed marketing can make a long-lasting impression, because - yes - she still has the business card. Did she remember who the business card was for? Absolutely, not. But we're talking brand recognition here people. Learn about how Jelly Belly got it's start and where they're at today.Pair this episode with a Jelly Bean Martini.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/buzzdwords)

Have you ever experienced undiluted, true worship of God? Not just the singing of songs in the first few minutes of church, but true deep, down in the recesses of your soul, calling out praises with everything you have to El Shaddai in worship? If not get ready to hear from a true sister of Christ that has a heart and ministry that calls us all out to do just that. This small-town Oklahoma lady is a singer and songwriter with an infectious passion to open us all up to faithful adoration of the true and living God. I met April Metzler through Christian Podcasters Association, and knew right away that I had to get her on Coach’s Corner to share her testimony and passions with all of us! Today April leads us through her testimony of how God has used her music to bring conviction to be a realistic and prudent mentor for her daughter. Join us as she goes through how 2020 was a time for her and her family, a truly “tremendous blessing of raising up in the newness and intimacy with the Lord, with more and more time with Him.” [09:48] April explains that we get this newness and intimacy through the refining fire, and clarity though being humble, and hearing God’s voice by praying risky prayers such as Psalms 139: 23-24. Are you brave and humble enough to ask: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting? You can only go as far with God as you go deep with God and allow Him to go deep in you. Yet, in this journey and in the refining, God brings us through we also have to appreciate where others are in their own journey with God. [45:02] We have to meet people where they are, when we are called to minister, and we all are called to ministry. It may look different for us all, but we are here to build each other and grow in the body as one. April concludes the podcast today by revealing her “quiet place”, how to find your quiet place to have true intimacy to connect with The Father in your everyday life. So here are some of those hard questions; Are you seeking that alone and deep intimacy with Him as He calls? Are you ready to get that deep?April, also, shares with us about her new book “Oh My God My Heart!”, her latest song “Oh My Heart Strings!” (a must listen to, amazing soul moving, step provoking worship song), and explains just a tidbit of what is coming up for her and her daughter Shelby in the new year. Today April called in with her story about fear and overcoming them by going head on immersion therapy. April grew up with a father who was adventurous and thrill seeking and take her on his airplane to fly loops in the air. Her mother was always outgoing and super friendly. April has the spirit of both her parents but one day when she went into the hospital to have bloodwork done for the first time ever she experienced fear of needles. Eventually she reached a stage in life where she would face this fear by becoming a human guinea pig for lab tests and she underwent lots of shots and treatments. She even began donating plasma and blood. Through this head on collision with her fear she forced herself to over come it. Then she made a list to keep tackling her fears. April and I spoke about the fear of being judged, perfectionism, being motivated by helping others and a lot more. Check out April’s podcast and website here: www.yesiworkfromhome.com and her Facebook group for people who work from home: https://www.facebook.com/groups/yesiworkfromhomecommunity
Today April reminds us to look inwards and to have hearts are changed and open to God and that we need to look at our foundations our faith is built on.

Today (April 8, 2020) marks the 30th anniversary of when the classic TV show Twin Peaks first aired. In our previous episode ("Twin Peaks: Why We Love It – Part One"), John Anthony Dunne and Kris Song discussed the cultural phenomenon that is Twin Peaks. In this episode, we discuss further how dreams function within the show as well as the broader work of David Lynch.
Today (April 8, 2020) marks the 30th anniversary of when the hit TV show Twin Peaks first hit our television sets. Twin Peaks was a major cultural phenomenon in the early 1990s. As an innovative TV show, it was a victim of its own success, being canceled after its second season. TV viewers coming out of the 80s, accustomed to Soaps and episodic storytelling, were simply not ready for a long form narrative spanning multiple episodes without resolution to the central inciting mystery—who killed Laura Palmer? Additionally, being in part the product of filmmaker David Lynch, famous for quirky, creepy, and bizarre films, TV viewers of the time did not have the palette for Lynch's niche vision of the world. After the show was canceled, Lynch made a prequel film in 1992 called Fire Walk With Me, which was summarily booed and trashed at the Cannes film festival. At the time that seemed to be the final nail in the coffin. However, in the summer of 2017, after the improbable growth of a cult following of Twin Peaks—thanks in part to the rise of the internet, the publication of a fan magazine called Wrapped in Plastic, and some annual fan summer festivals—the show returned to Showtime for a third season. In this episode, John Anthony Dunne chats with The Two Cities team member Kris Song about their love of this show that is both wonderful and strange.

Ever wonder how other couples manage to have a regular date night once kids enter the picture? Today April, Indiana and Ashlee chat about the complexity of making date night happen with kids running around. You’ll hear how the concept of ‘date night’ has changed from pre-kids to post-kids, how they make childcare work, what makes for a great date, and of course, what makes for a bad one as well. Plus, April shares about her ‘stay-in date night clothes’ and you’ll get to find out what bizarre thing Indiana and her husband did for a cheap night out back in college. Whether your ideal date night includes a four-course meal at a hip restaurant or eating takeout on the couch, we hope you feel encouraged after this episode to plan a date night of your own this month! Next up on the chopping block? Food stamps or SNAP as it’s now known. A new farm bill, fresh out of the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture, could force over two million people off the program. Vox’s Tara Golshan explains why Republicans want to put SNAP recipients to work, and Stacy Dean from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities talks about the program’s bipartisan past. ************************************ Today (April 27), a jury found Bill Cosby guilty on all counts of drugging and molesting a woman. It’s actually the second time Cosby’s been tried on these same counts. We recently asked if Cosby’s accusers would be heard differently post-#MeToo. This time around we got political (and hopefully not too partisan) regarding the Provincial election – the writ drops TODAY (April 11). We also get into the meat of personal organization strategies, gay sports (all sports are gay now, sorry, we don’t make the rules), and dreams sponsored by Squarespace. Entertainment Broadcast Network l Total Lacrosse with Jonny Vegas
The Entertainment Broadcast Network brings you another episode of Total Lacrosse with Jonny Vegas! My guest today is Larry Mackey! "The Jay-Z dissed lacrosse" (AllHipHop News) Jay Z might have told an unnamed adversary (read: Drake) that he as playing the wrong sport on DJ Khaled's "They Don't Love You No More" but it may be Jay Z in the wrong arena. Today (April 29th), a spokesperson for Major League Lacrosse has issued a statement against Jay Z's dismissal of lacrosse on DJ Khaled's new single. In the song "They Don't Love You No More", Jay Z states "boy, you soft as a lacrosse team." In a statement issued to MTV, Major League Lacrosse (MLL) reasons that lacrosse is in fact dangerous as "players are on the field dodging and shooting balls at over 100 miles per hour." After stating that Lacrosse is often called the fastest sport on two feet", the statement reads that Jay Z may be misinformed entirely about the sport: With that said we don't think Jay-Z knows what he's talking about when he calls Lacrosse 'soft' I can guarantee you it is anything but a 'soft' sport. The statement then goes on to not only claim Jay Z "would not last one minute" in a lacrosse game but also intimated that they would be willing to test him: Mr. Carter would not last one minute on a lacrosse field during a match and he is more than welcome to come to any of our games and try.
