Actor, New Yorker and all around stand-up guy. Tony Denison is my guest on Episode 244 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast. Tony got his big break in 1986 with his role as "Ray Luca" on the show "Crime Story" alongside Dennis Farina. We go heavily into how he got the role, the show itself and the absolutely ridiculous cast. In my opinion, one of the most criminally underrated shows ever. From the streets of Harlem to television and movies. He's starred in everything from "The Closer" to it's spin-off, "Major Crimes", which amounts to over 200 episodes between just those two shows alone. From "Coach George" in ESPN's "Playmakers" to "Melrose Place", "Prison Break" and "All Rise" to playing Joey Buttafuoco in "The Amy Fisher Story" with Drew Barrymore, John Gotti in "Getting Gotti", "Men of War" with Dolph Lundgren and "Full Eclipse" with Mario Van Peebles just to name a few. Tony has and continues to have an amazing career and would be honored to have him back on the podcast in the future. Enjoy! Happy 75th birthday, Loni Anderson! To celebrate, we’ve reviewed THE PRICE SHE PAID (1992), starring the lovely and unparalleled Loni along with Candy Clark and Tony Denison. Lacey (Anderson) is a woman who became pregnant as a result of aggravated rape and kept the child. Twelve years later, the allegedly rehabilitated felon, Keith (Denison), is out on parole. Not only does he attempt to reconnect with Lacey and befriend those closest to her, he also has been granted legal visitation rights with their son. Has Keith truly reformed? Or is this just a meticulous plot to exact revenge, cold dish style? We also discuss the concept of rehabilitation; can it be achieved with incarceration or is that merely punishment? Additionally, we dispel the “Greeks love Windex” myth and learn why David Cross HATES Rachel (or do we?) Also, this particular episode is why Stephanie is no longer allowed to drink White Russians while recording (drink anytime she bungles a word and soon you won’t be able to speak coherently either!) The podcast may be free of charge, but don’t pay the price of missing this one! This movie can be viewed on YouTube. Trigger alert: This episode discusses sexual assault. New "Kahnversations" Podcast with Actor Tony Denison! In this episode of "Kahnversations," we interview Tony Denison. In addition to his role on TNT’s MAJOR CRIMES, Tony most recently completed shooting the feature film DEEP WOODS and is currently recurring as Vic Callan on CBS’s new drama, ALL RISE. He has also formed a production company with friend and partner Joel Bess called Jucilian Productions. With New York stage credits under his belt, Tony Denison made his momentous television debut starring in Michael Mann’s critically acclaimed drama, CRIME STORY, as Ray Luca. He received a fistful of kudos, including recognition from Time Magazine as television’s best villain of the 1980s. Denison has appeared in more than two-dozen motion pictures, including ATLAS SHRUGGED: WHO IS JOHN GALT, ART OF REVENGE and LITTLE VEGAS. He was recently cast as Ed Reilly in THE OBAMA EFFECT, directed by and starring Charles Dutton. Also, Tony had a wonderful time starring in TRATTORIA, in which he plays a chef who recognizes what is really important in his life (Tony fancies himself an amateur chef). In addition to CRIME STORY, Denison has an impressive list of starring roles on series, that includes a special episode arc on WISE GUY, UNDER COVER, LOVE AND MARRIAGE, THE DA, PLAYMAKERS and PRISON BREAK, as well as notable guest-starring roles on such shows as CASTLE, CSI, CRIMINAL MINDS, BOSTON LEGAL, THE DISTRICT, J.A.G., COLD CASE, The OC, ER, NYPD BLUE and CHARMED, and of course his 7 year stint as series regular, Andy Flynn, on the hit TNT show THE CLOSER which transferred into MAJOR CRIMES, which ran for another 6 years. You can download or subscribe to our podcast for FREE by clicking below. If you like “Kahnversations,” please leave a rating or review on our iTunes page! There are so many inspiring podcasts with fabulous stars out there. But their careers feel light years away from ours, don’t they? Wouldn’t it be great to hear from the guy who just booked his first pilot? Or the kid finally doing a studio pic after a bunch of low budget indies? Or the woman who’s been a series regular a few times but is only now becoming a name? What about the guy who’s been on a show for years and you know his face but what’shisnameagain? Or that actress who is now a freakin’ showrunner???? How’d THEY do it, right? How did they transition from relative obscurity, bartending and bottle service, to buying that house in Brentwood? We’re producing “Kahnversations,” a podcast that provides access to THOSE people -- your immediate predecessors -- so that you can learn from them while their battle scars are still fresh. In “Kahnversations,” our own Ryan Bailey interviews some of Lesly Kahn & Company’s working actors, directors, and writers in order to learn how they got started in Hollywood, the challenges and hurdles they faced, and how they overcame the odds. (They also dish out some crazy stories!) Listen in and enjoy as these entertainers speak candidly about their paths, processes, and experiences. You might even hear a bit about how Lesly and the Kahnstitute have influenced and shaped their careers.

Actor Tony Denison is best known for his role as Detective Andrew Flynn in The Closer (now called Major Crimes) but was originally launched into the cultural stratosphere back in the 80s when Michael Mann cast him as a mob boss on Crime Story. Over the years, the former insurance agent has popped up everywhere, from Melrose Place to Walker, Texas Ranger to NYPD Blue, CSI and ER, to name just a few (he estimates that about 80% of the time, his characters are either cops or gangsters). He's also sober over 22 years after struggling with cocaine and alcohol. In this episode, we talk about going from obscurity to the mainstream, learning to be happy with who and not what you are, and following drivers to make amends after a road rage attack, among many other topics.
