Released in 1996, it stars Dennis Quaid, Sean Connery, Dina Meyer, Pete Postlethwaite, David Thewlis, and Jason Isaacs.

Jigsaw puts a doctor through a game to keep himself alive as well as allows his apprentice to run a game herself that is somehow connected to Jigsaw's game.Saw III features a very sick Jigsaw who allows his apprentice, Amanda, to start taking over his legacy. The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed Saw II and continues on to direct Saw IV. While the film isn't as strong as the first two in the series, it does add value to the series by bringing back returning characters, Eric and Kerry, played by Donnie Wahlberg and Dina Meyer and carves a new path for Jigsaw and Amanda. The movie delivers on clever traps, crazy kills, and fills in more of Jigsaw's background that makes the series more interesting. Despite these efforts development was slow, with studios hesitant to fund the costly project right up to the start of filming. While getting the data, his clients are attacked and killed by the yakuza. Johnny goes on the run, where he is betrayed by his handler, befriended by Jane, a cybernetically-enhanced bodyguard, and brought to the attention of the Lo-Teks, an anti-establishment group.They discover that the data Johnny holds is a stolen cure to a technological disease that afflicts much of the planet.
