We're setting our sights on the commodity sector today as we speak to a Singapore-headquartered international commodity trading house. Founded in 2007 as a company facilitating trade flows from Africa to Asia, Valency International has since established a sizable global presence with offices and operations in 22 countries and a workforce of over 2,600 people.  The firm's global footprint now extends to 21 product categories including agricultural commodities and FMCG products the likes of cashews, almonds, pulses and beans, sesame, cumin, soybean, rice and corn.  Outside of edibles, its portfolio includes steel, paper and industrial chemicals. But what is the most important product vertical for Valency International and what implications will this have in terms of the geographical markets Valency wants to deepen its presence in? Valancy discovers that Dr Trent has made a serious mistake in her diagnosis. Dr Trent was ashamed that he caused Valancy a year of needless distress, and was shocked to find that she had married a rapscallion from 'up back'. But where does that leave Valency now, who is shocked that her entire marriage has been based on false pretences? 

Finally, we reach the Silver Wedding anniversary dinner, and Valency lets loose. Everything she's been thinking comes out, and they really do believe she's gone "dippy", at least according to Uncle Benjamin.Strangely she finds herself defending the indefensible Barnie Snaith: "I don't mean to hush," said Valancy perversely. "I've hush-hushed all my life. I'll scream if I want to. Don't make me want to. And stop talking nonsense about Barney Snaith." She can't quite understand why she feels the need to stand up for him. In the end, the excitement is too much, and with one of her attacks coming on, she makes a hasty exit. Meanwhile the family try and work out what to do about this odd development.

Valency begins exercising the freedoms she has granted herself - her mother and cousin are now afraid of what Valency will do at the clan's Silver Wedding anniversary dinner. At the point that cousin Stickles catches her sliding down the banister, she knew that something was seriously wrong with Valency. How can her mother prevent this disaster from happening?

We are delighted to tackle L.M. Montgomery's classic tale, one of her few adult books. Published in 1926, we are pleased to present The Blue Castle. Best known for Anne of Green Gables, Montgomery sets the scene in chapter one of our protagonist Valency. Considered an old maid at nearly 29 and unwed, her life is dull and uneventful, living with her mother and cousin who direct her every move. In order to cope with this existence, in her free moments she retreats in her mind to a fantasy castle, where she is loved and wanted. Today is Valancy's birthday.  If the weather had been fine, she would have gone to Aunt Wellington's annual picnic, which is held on the same day as Valancy's birthday each year. But today was about to be a day that changes herlife entirely. The weather was rainy and with the picnic cancelled, Valancy decides to go to the doctor to see about her recent heart palpitations. Little to we know, that this small decision will have huge implications.The Blue Castle is a story about mortality,  the impermanence of life, and ultimately, overcoming fear. Homeostatic chronic low stress results in low to moderate levels of CRF in the LC in association with enhanced Extra-Dimensional Shifting and optimal executive decision making. However, acute or chronic severe stress is linked to high levels of CRF in the LC and this may contribute to a shift from optimal executive function necessary for goal-directed behavior toward an iterative decision response. In healthy environments, this variable tonicity is a readout for adaptation when goal-oriented behavior is relaxed so that the individual uses pro-forma decisions even when novel environmental stimuli are encountered. During aging these pathways lose flexibility due to a decrease in executive decision making linked to the senescence phenotype that may impair neural circuitry via inflammation, over or under activation and lack of control over immune cell responses. Abstract: Angiopoietin 1 and 2 (Ang1 and Ang2) modulate angiogenesis and vascular homeostasis through engagement of their very similar F-domain modules with the Tie2 receptor tyrosine kinase on endothelial cells. Despite this similarity in the underlying receptor binding interaction, the two angiopoietins have opposite effects: Ang1 induces phosphorylation of protein kinase B (AKT), strengthens cell-cell junctions and enhances endothelial cell survival while Ang2 antagonizes these effects. To investigate the molecular basis for the opposing effects, we examined the protein kinase activation and morphological phenotypes produced by a series of computationally designed protein scaffolds presenting the Ang1 F-domain in a wide range of valencies and geometries. We find two broad phenotypic classes distinguished by the number of presented F-domains: scaffolds presenting 4 F-domains have Ang2 like activity, upregulating pFAK and pERK but not pAKT, and failing to induce cell migration and tube formation, while scaffolds presenting 6 or more F-domains have Ang1 like activity, upregulating pAKT and inducing migration and tube formation. The scaffolds with 8 or more F-domains display superagonist activity, producing stronger phenotypes at lower concentrations than Ang1. When examined in vivo, superagonist icosahedral self-assembling nanoparticles caused significant revascularization in hemorrhagic brains after a controlled cortical impact injury. Hope everyone who was taking finals these past couple weeks did well...Sorry for the late update this week, busy with interviews and such. This first episode of the weak features resident DJ Valency. Upon early listen and tracklist, this looks to be awesome! Definitely like the intro as well!Valency:More and more, people are complaining that trance is becoming too soft. This is only true is you aren't looking further than what the big trance radio shows are playing. I've done this mix with the hopes that you'll listen to it with an open mind and perhaps even learn about and enjoy a few underappreciated producers. There's a couple of 'weird' tracks, a few of my favourites, vocals are kept to a minimum, and it's all pretty hard and techy.I had fun making the silly stereotypical trance radioshow intro and putting on my most Aussie accent to continue to perpetrate false Australian stereotypes.There's more to trance than Armin and Above & Beyond.
