This week, Jess and Scott discuss one of the most important decisions one can make as a dog owner, which is how to pick a vet. In this day and age, it is wise to have your dogs registered at multiple local vet offices. Vets are in higher demand than ever before, so having access to sound medicine and compassionate staff should be of utmost importance. What is the most critical component to consider when choosing a vet? Why do vets vary so much in how they practice in this day and age? How can choosing the right vet save you heartache and money? Melain Rodriguez of Viagen Pets explains how the process of cloning your pet works, how much it costs and what happens when it goes wrong.
Animal cloning has come a long way since Dolly, the sheep but it remains as controversial as ever. It is a messy industry riding on the grief of pet lovers and driven by pet influencers who care more for their ROI than a genuine love of the dogs/cats. Cloning seems to run the grief industry from South Korea to China and the USA — PerPETuate, Sooam Biotech, Sinogene, Viagen Pets and new players sprucing up every year. In addition to the surrogate dogs in the laboratory, there are tens of thousands of homeless dogs awaiting adoption. If You Love Animals, Don't Clone Your Pet. Cloning your cat or dog won't bring your furry friend back, but force surrogate dogs to face multiple pregnancies and hormonal treatment just to create one desired pup.

The popularity of pet cloning has grown in recent years, as the technology becomes more accessible and cost comes down, but the practice remains ethically controversial and many who chose to clone, can face a backlash. Would you clone your dog? Cloning was once reserved for livestock, but it's popularity and accessibility has grown among dog and cat owners. But the practice remains controversial, and some say unethical. When Dolly the Sheep was cloned in 1996, she became the first mammal to be cloned from an adult somatic cell, using the process of nuclear transfer. It was a major turning point in science. But dogs were much harder to clone because of the differences in the canine reproductive process. So, when Snuppy, the Afghan Hound puppy, was successfully born in 2005 and named Time Magazine's Invention of the Year, it was clear this was the start of something big. Now ViaGen Pets and Equine in Texas is among a limited number of companies worldwide able to clone dogs, cats and horses for pet owners. While detractors disagree with cloning for a range of reasons, those who have done it, including Barbra Streisand, are thrilled with the result and are delighted to have a piece of their beloved dog who provided the cells to make the clone possible. In this episode, we take a deep dive into the world of cloning to understand why people choose to clone, and why those against it call it the canine version of A Handmaid's Tale. The one thing that is consistent with Canine Tactical is that they always work towards creating an elite working canine in there breeding program. Sometimes, Mother Nature doesn't cooperate or is inconsistent. It takes a lot of time and effort to properly care for, house, feed, raise, and train each pup to adulthood, only to discover not all of them meet the qualifications for an effective Police/Military Working Canine or a home/executive protection canine. Canine Tactical's breeding program is built on achieving a standardization of a Working Canine - a MIL-SPEC Canine. A standardization of a canine that has the traits that Canine Tactical desires; Hunt, Defense, and Fight. There are other traits that encompass an effective Working Canine, but these three are a top priority. After multiple breedings, Canine Tactical has yet to achieve stability in each canine. The stability found in Canine Eudoris® Actual, the top male canine is second to none. A stable canine with these priority traits and characteristics make the learning and training process for the handler who doesn't fully understand the essence of handler skills, achievable, every time, all the time. An officer still needs to maintain his individual shooter skills. How the situation is approached is paramount and the K9 will follow suit. - Take away the controlled environment in training- The Morton/Method does not restrict the handler and the dog's thinking or actions in an unrealistic way. Allowing him to use his training as well as leaving him the ability to improvise when needed. - Remove the conflict in training- Take the "Alpha male" type out of the sight picture. Respect the K9 and learn to work around the personality of the K9 and not the trainers' ideology. Morton/Method concept introduces the canines to use their nose from day one, no matter the age and no visual stimulus is applied. So he started the Clones in detection/hunting for the ball. The Morton/Method does not utilize the food reward concept. While the Clones were in the room he noticed they were all in hunt mode with no end in sight, nose to the ground (nonstop). They were sniffing seams of doors, running in and out of dark areas, and up and down stairs. They didn’t know what they were hunting, but they needed to hunt.
