The Morning Drop: The live morning show where viewers can chat live with The War Rapport about any and all breaking Auburn Sports News. Wendell Green Jr shocked many of the Auburn faithful on Sunday night when he declared for the NBA draft in lieu of returning to Auburn. As a 2-year contributor and mainstay in the rotation, Wendell had become a point of contention with Wendell being the last player with the ball in his hands in games where the team came up short. His departure raises questions, but also opens the door for an almost complete overhaul of the Auburn Men's Basketball roster. Ike looks to the present in analyzing Wendell's departure and the future in analyzing how the roster changes from here. Auburn relied on their half court defense and some timely 3 point shooting in the second half to control their first round matchup against Iowa in Birmingham. Johni Broome was our MVP with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Wendell Green Jr took care of the ball and was perfect at the free throw line to finish the game. Tre Donaldson and KD Johnson were terrific off the bench, and Allen Flanigan had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Auburn will play on Saturday in Birmingham against either Houston or Northern Kentucky.

They look at why the Tigers were able to take advantage of Zakai Ziegler's absence on both ends of the floor, how Wendell Green Jr. got his groove back, why the rest of the starters were so important and just how loud it got in the Arena when Lior Berman dunked. Then the guys take a quick look ahead to the SEC Tournament matchup against Arkansas and the latest round of Bracketology. Auburn finally got a signature win with a victory over Tennessee on Senior Day in Neville Arena. They held the Volunteers without a field goal for the last 6 minutes of the game in route to a 79-70 win. Wendell Green Jr had a game-high 24 points and Johni Broome had 17 points and 7 rebounds, but the real story was the performance of the Auburn seniors. Jaylin Williams had 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists while Allen Flanigan scored 16 and hit multiple three pointers. Zep Jasper played tenacious defense against Santiago Vescovi down the stretch. Auburn will now travel to Nashville for the SEC Tournament and will begin play on Thursday night.

Auburn had to have a win over Ole Miss on Wednesday for its NCAA tournament hopes and survived a close game in Neville Arena thanks to some clutch free throws down the stretch. This episode begins (0:40) with an interview with a Barrett Irmscher from the Greater Nashville Auburn Club to highlight the special weekend surrounding the Vanderbilt game, with our Ole Miss game recap (17:45) afterwards. The Tigers defense wasn't quite as good as normal against Ole Miss, and turnovers became an issue in the second half. The steadiest guy on the floor was our MVP Johni Broome, who had 19 points, 8 rebounds, 6 blocks and 3 assists. Wendell Green Jr went 6-6 at the line in the final minute and had a game-high 23 points. Auburn (19-9, 9-6 SEC) now will close the season with three straight Quad 1 opportunities, beginning with a trip to Rupp Arena on Saturday.
The Jungle - Auburn Basketball Podcast with Matt Donaldson and Jackson Garrett
The Auburn Family showed up and showed out in Nashville, but the 20 free throw attempts for Vanderbilt center Liam Robbins was a little too much to overcome. The Tigers had their chances to stretch out a small second half lead, but ended up in another close battle that will end up in the loss column. After a huge KD Johnson 3 pointer to tie the game with 10 seconds left, Vanderbilt hit a shot going to the rim with less than a second left to win the game. Johni Broome led Auburn in scoring with 20 points and Jaylin Williams had 17, but it was a brutal night for Wendell Green Jr and many other perimeter players for the Tigers. Auburn now needs to beat Ole Miss at home this week and likely will need another win in the regular season or SEC tournament as they try to secure an NCAA tournament berth.
The Morning Drop: The morning live show dedicated to our paying YouTube members to talk and chat live with us covering any and all breaking Auburn Sports News. An emphatic win against visiting Missouri keeps Auburn Men's Basketball's tournament goal in view, and it was a perfect shot in the arm for a team that had been losing big games narrowly. KD Johnson played his best game of the season, Tre Donaldson made a thunderous statement, and Wendell Green Jr stayed in control of the game from the PG position in a game where Missouri never got close. Was this the game to spring board Auburn into the rest of the SEC conference schedule? Or was it just a 1-off from a desperate team? Cinmeon Bowers joined the podcast at the start (00:41) to talk about his Auburn career and much much more. Our traditional game recap for the Alabama game begins at 28:50 if you want to skip ahead. The Tigers executed a game plan to limit Alabama's 3 point barrage, but still came up short as the offense faltered late. Wendell Green Jr scored a game-high 24 points. Auburn hosts Missouri on Tuesday night in a very important game for the Tigers' NCAA tournament resume.

Auburn had another opportunity to add a Quad 1 win to their NCAA tournament resume, but it slipped through their fingers in a close loss in College Station. The Aggies scored 22 more points than Auburn at the free throw line, and foul trouble for Johni Broome and Dylan Cardwell played a big role down the stretch. Despite all of that, Auburn shot the ball well on the road and had a lead in the second half. They even had the ball down 2 points in the final minute before enduring another frustrating loss. Wendell Green Jr had 20 points, and Johni Broome added 18 points and 11 rebounds. Auburn desperately needs a big win and gets another opportunity this Saturday as they host College Gameday and #3 Alabama.

After a 10-2 start, Auburn struggled to score consistently and the Texas A&M Aggies were better on both ends of the floor on their way to a 79-63 win in Neville Arena. Johni Broome and Wendell Green Jr had 16 points each, but the Tigers were out-rebounded, lost the turnover battle, and couldn't contain Tyrese Radford (30 points, 9 rebounds). The nation's longest home winning streak has come to an end. Auburn now travels to West Virginia on Saturday to compete in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.

Auburn got another wire-to-wire road victory against the South Carolina Gamecocks to move to 16-3 (6-1 SEC) on Saturday. Johni Broome led the Tigers in scoring and rebounding with 27 and 11, but our MVP was Wendell Green Jr. He was masterful in the half court and in the open court, earning his own double-double with 16 points and 12 assists. Jaylin Williams and Allen Flanigan also had really nice games and the Tigers' defense held the Gamecocks to 22 first half points. Auburn returns to Neville Arena on Wednesday to host Texas A&M.
Justin and Painter recap Auburn basketball's 15-point road win over South Carolina. They discuss the Tigers' ever-improving balance among their veterans and how Wendell Green Jr. is playing some of the best ball in the SEC right now. The guys talk about the best way to view a winning streak in a favorable stretch of schedule and what all this could mean moving forward. Then it's a switch over to football, where the hot topic is Auburn's quarterback situation at the conclusion of the first transfer portal window. Auburn recorded their largest margin of victory in Baton Rogue in program history with their 67-49 win on Wednesday night. Behind 14 points from Wendell Green Jr and Jaylin Williams, the offense was more than good enough to support a suffocating defensive effort. The Auburn defense held LSU to 29% shooting, the lowest against an SEC opponent in 12 years. Lior Berman and Allen Flanigan added 8 points each. Auburn (15-3, 5-1 SEC) continues their road trip in Columbia, South Carolina on Saturday against the Gamecocks.

Jaylin Williams led the Tigers to a third straight SEC win with 21 points (5 three pointers) and 7 rebounds. Auburn built an early double digit lead and held on to that the rest of the way, despite letting Mississippi State hang around late in the second half. Wendell Green Jr scored 11 of the last 12 points to close the game, and Allen Flanigan had his fourth straight double digit scoring game with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Auburn backed up their big win over Arkansas with their first SEC road win in Oxford. The offense led the charge in this game, surprisingly, as four Tigers scored in double figures. Wendell Green Jr had 23 points, Johni Broome had a fourth consecutive double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, Allen Flanigan had 15 points and 5 rebounds, and Jaylin Williams had 12 points and 5 assists. Auburn erased a 7 point first half deficit in the first half and took the lead for good early in the second half. The Tigers are now 13-3 (3-1 in the SEC) as they return home to face Mississippi State on Saturday.
The Jungle - Auburn Basketball Podcast with Matt Donaldson and Jackson Garrett
Auburn got their biggest win of the season so far with a huge 72-59 win over the #13 Arkansas Razorbacks. The Tigers never trailed in the entire game. It was a great bounce back after the Georgia loss, and Auburn's defense (with the help of a unique zone strategy) was a huge key to the win. Wendell Green Jr scored the first 7 points of the game for Auburn and led the way with 19 points and 5 assists, while Johni Broome had 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 blocks and Allen Flanigan had his best game of the season with 18 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. Auburn is now 12-3 (2-1) and travels to Ole Miss on Tuesday night.

After an ugly first half filled with turnovers and missed opportunities, Auburn rallied back in the second half to get a hard fought win in their first SEC game. Wendell Green Jr and Johni Broome led the way with 14 points. Broome was our MVP and added 11 rebounds and 4 assists, in addition to putting up a much better stat line than Florida's All-SEC big man Colin Castleton. The Tigers only turned it over 3 times in the second half and took care of business in the last few minutes of the game, extending their home winning streak to 26 games. Auburn travels to Athens, Georgia for their next game on January 4.

23 turnovers were too much to overcome for Auburn on Sunday, as the Tigers lost to USC 74-71 in Los Angeles. The Tigers actually shot the ball pretty well but Wendell Green Jr wasn't effective after his ankle injury in the previous game and Jaylin Williams went down after a scary fall late in the game. Johni Broome led the way with 16 points, while Tre Donaldson continued to make the most of his opportunity with extra point guard minutes. Auburn will finish their west coast road trip in Seattle on Wednesday night.

Without KD Johnson, Auburn really struggled on the offensive end and trailed by 3 at halftime. The energy picked up in the second half, and Jaylin Williams (MVP - 20 points, 8 rebounds) and Wendell Green Jr (17 points, 11-15 from the free throw line) carried Auburn to a much-needed victory. Tre Donaldson reclaimed the backup point guard and played great off the bench to provide a spark. Despite being outrebounded, Auburn won the turnover battle and blocked 11 shots to get out of Neville Arena with a win. The Tigers travel to the west coast to play USC next.

Jackson and Ben are here to commiserate with Auburn fans and share their thoughts on Auburn's first loss of the season against Memphis. The defense (specifically finishing possessions with a rebound) was a big problem and the offense struggled to hit outside shots. Wendell Green Jr led the team in scoring with 14 points but Chris Moore might have been the most impressive player, hitting both of his three pointers and all four of his free throws while not committing a turnover. Auburn returns to action on Wednesday night at Neville Arena against Georgia State.

Auburn prevailed over a very talented, experienced Saint Louis team 65-60, but it was not easy. Auburn's shooting difficulties continued but the defense and winning culture won the day, as the Tigers finished the game on a 12-2 run - turning a 5 point deficit into a 5 point victory. Wendell Green Jr led the way with 22 points and was our MVP for this game. Johni Broome missed a lot of makeable shots, but had 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 blocks. KD Johnson led the Tigers back late in the game, with two tough driving layups and an unreal full court pass to Allen Flanigan to give Auburn the lead for good. The Tigers are now 7-0 and will host Colgate on December 2.

Johni Broome was out, Wendell Green Jr struggled, but some of Auburn's more experienced players picked up the offensive slack in a 72-56 win over Texas Southern. KD Johnson scored 16, while Jaylin Williams and Chris Moore added 14 each. They all hit multiple three pointers. Auburn's defense continues to look lethal, and it led to a 28-7 fast break points advantage tonight. Chris Moore was narrowly named MVP of this game. Next, Auburn travels to Mexico to participate in the Cancun Challenge on Tuesday and Wednesday of Thanksgiving Week.

The Tigers moved to 3-0 on the season with a convincing victory at Neville Arena. Johni Broome led the way with 18 points and 13 rebounds, claiming his first Jungle Podcast MVP. Wendell Green Jr continued his stellar play with 16 points on 10 shots, including four made three pointers. The defense continues to be impressive and the rotation grew to 11 players as freshman Chance Westry saw his first action of the year. Next up is a home game on November 18 against Texas Southern.

They discuss how Auburn's defense was able to dominate Jimbo Fisher's Texas A&M offense, how the offense did just enough with its explosive running game to win and how special teams helped after they hurt a week ago. Then it's a switch over to basketball, where Bruce Pearl's team used elite defense and a second-half surge to put away USF for a second straight season. It was a rough night offensively, but Auburn actually shot better than USF from the field, three point line, and free throw line - which speaks to the backbone of this team so far...their defense. The Tigers overcame a 9 point halftime deficit to move to 2-0 on the season. Wendell Green Jr led the way in scoring with 20 points, but Allen Flanigan was our MVP tonight. He came off the bench and scored 18 points, including three huge three pointers. Auburn returns to the court against Winthrop on November 15.

The Jungle - Auburn Basketball Podcast with Matt Donaldson and Jackson Garrett
Auburn's historic winning streak finally came to an end in Fayetteville, as Arkansas won an tightly contested overtime battle 80-76. Auburn dug out of a double digit first half deficit and had their opportunities to win in regulation, but couldn't quite close it out. Arkansas won the turnover battle, made the most of their free throws, and harassed Auburn's offense most of the night. Walker Kessler was incredible, Wendell Green Jr was a warrior, and Jabari Smith nearly single handedly brought the Tigers back in overtime - but it wasn't to be. Auburn remains alone at the top of the SEC standings as they prepare to host College Gameday and Texas A&M on Saturday.

Auburn survived a scare in Athens but swept Georgia after a late bucket from Wendell Green Jr. After being up 15 in the first half, Georgia came all the way back to take a lead late in the second half. Zep Jasper was out, so Wendell Green played 36 tough minutes, scoring 19 points. KD Johnson led Auburn with 20 points, and Walker Kessler had a solid game with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. The Tigers are now 10-0 in the SEC as they prepare for a road trip to Fayetteville on Tuesday. We also had special guests Michael and Luke join us…you may have seen six year old Luke on a viral Twitter video sharing his knowledge of this year's basketball team. They're the “best basketball team in the world!”

Another memorable victory for the Auburn Tigers tonight as they finished off a season sweep of Alabama with a 19 point win at home. Walker Kessler posted an insane stat line, while Wendell Green Jr looked healthy again and was masterful running Auburn's offense when he was on the floor. It was a balanced attack with 5 players scoring in double figures. Auburn built a 19 point first half lead, only to see it dwindle to 2 early in the second half. But Auburn's depth and toughness was yet again on display, as they re-built a 20 point lead before cruising to the victory. Auburn is now 9-0 in the SEC at the halfway point of the conference schedule, with a 2.5 game lead on Kentucky.
Part 2 of the Wednesday Night War Room from Wednesday January 26, 2022. We discuss fan etiquette after witnessing Mizzou jeer Wendell Green Jr after his brief injury. And also, why exactly did Derek Mason leave the Auburn Football program?

The hype has been real this week for this basketball team, and Auburn got hit in the mouth by Ole Miss in the first half. Trailing by as many as 14 points, the Tigers were able to make a small run going into halftime, before turning up the heat defensively in the second half to eventually take control of the game. Walker Kessler had 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 blocks, while Wendell Green Jr continued his stellar point guard play off the bench. Auburn is now 16-1 and 5-0 in SEC play, with a real chance to be ranked #1 for the first time in program history.
