Returning to the center of things and the things that truly matter. Removing our attention from the static and distraction and coming back to the heart compass. Reflecting upon impermanence to choose what is possible and alive in this moment. What do you belong to in this wild, fresh moment?  What do you want to invest yourself in and how do you wish to be invested in? What feels like gentle homecoming? What does that feel like in your body?  Let harmony guide you—your body knows what this means. When are you choosing yourself, your current needs—when does your internal experience feel aligned and harmonious with whatever might be happening around you? And when do you notice feeling disharmony and a sense of leaving yourself behind? It's normal to get distracted and taken away. Even in the most beautiful place we can get lost in thoughts, beliefs, and old patterns and choose “disharmony.” Underneath it all is clear, calm, constant harmony. We get to continue to come back to that space over and over again. It's a practice. Going “off course” doesn't mean we've done anything wrong. It means we're human.  How do you come back to yourself and this fresh, awake, now moment? Let's explore the steady foundation of practicing presence, which can include choosing memories that help us come back to the truth of us—much like the poem I share— “emergence.” Are you willing to believe in the miracles available inside this moment? Watching and witnessing your breathing is a way to make direct contact with the revelation that belongs to you. Emergence can be found in my first book, The Reach Is (W)holy. https://www.shegathersbeauty.com/books. To learn more about ways to spend time at the hearthfire with me, visit my website https://www.shegathersbeauty.com/. I'm currently booking individual sessions September - December. I have some exciting announcements coming soon about The School of Wild & Holy; an intimate 6 month program to move deeply with life and receive the sacred mystery teachings you've been called to live and share. Thank you for listening! Please subscribe, rate, and review so more people can find us and listen in. Your investment of time and sharing these episodes means the world to me.

This Week's Guest - Sherry CothranRev. Sherry Cothran, M.Div., has served as senior pastor in United Methodist congregations in Nashville and Chattanooga, TN, for a decade. Formerly a recording artist on Mercury Records, she is an award-winning singer/songwriter and author of two books. Sherry has released four solo CD's, her music has been featured in t.v. and film. She's shared stages with hit rock acts such as Goo Goo Dolls, Bare Naked Ladies, Spin Doctors and K's Choice and toured around the world as the lead singer of a popular rock band, The Evinrudes, before entering seminary and becoming an ordained, United Methodist minister. As a pastor of a multi-cultural, urban church, Sherry began to share stories on her blog, “Peddling Hope in Dystopia” of everyday sacred encounters with those who were labeled “refugee,” “immigrant” and “homeless.” She later shared them in a book that became beloved by readers, Tending Angels: Stories From the Frontlines of Heaven and Earth. Her writing was featured in publications such as Abingdon Women, Interpreter Magazine and Ministry Matters. She was also a regular contributor to the homiletics journal, Good Preacher. She was the artist in residence in 2015 at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and received two grants to develop her creative writing from the Louisville Institute for Pastoral Study. Her story has been featured in various publications including USA Today. Recently, she became the founder and president of the nonprofit, Beloved Woman, a ministry that helps women who are financially disadvantaged to become self-employed or find a pathway to a living wage. She tours regularly, performing, speaking and leading workshops. In her new book, Wild and Holy Prophets, Warriors, Harlots & Healers: Women of the Bible, Sherry takes us out into the Bible's uncharted regions, beyond those selected scriptures that have often been used to tame the feminine spirit, to meet the wild and holy women of the Bible. Blending the brightest in biblical scholarship with her vast experiences, Rev. Sherry Cothran leads us into healing encounters with the Bible's lost stories of women who were warriors, prophets, harlots, and healers. The book and 10 original songs call us to live free, faithful, and fearless lives. In the pages and songs of Wild and Holy you'll find new narratives from old stories and awaken to the image of a loving God within.Links:Wild and Holy Prophets, Warriors, Harlots & Healers: Women of the BibleBookAvailable at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads, and other major online bookstores. Book Website: www.wildandholy.orgSherry Cothran's MusicMusic available on all streaming platforms, iTunes, iheartradio, Pandora, Napster, Spotify or listen free at www.sherrycothran.comWeb Site: http://thescifichristian.com/----more----Rick Lee James Upcoming ReleaseYou Are My Salvation - New Music ReleaseJun 25th, 2021Pre-Save on Spotify: https://show.co/Q5n8NKFMusic Video Premiere June 24th (Set A Reminder Here):Thank you for listening to Voices In My Head!Blessings,Rick Lee JamesWant some exclusives like early music videos, singles, and private podcast episodes?Become a paid subscriber on Substack:Subscribe nowListen to Rick Lee James MusicOne of the best ways to support independent artists during Covid-19 is to stream our music on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music and Pandora. She Gathers Beauty | Living Your Wildly Naked Truth

Wendy shares an exciting announcement about an offering coming this Valentine’s and Spring in The School of Wild & Holy—dedicated to your YES, feeling luscious in your bones. It’s essential now, more than ever, to rest inside pleasure.  We explore what it means to say yes—what does saying yes mean to YOU? How can you trust yourself to know what your yes is? How can you deepen into what is true for you? Your inhale is a sacred yes to life. Use the constant invitation of your breathing to affirm what is real and true for you. The importance of locating your inner authority, your sovereign self. The importance of the exhale, the release, the letting go.  We are ever and always approaching intersections of choice; knowing this can support the constant change that is inevitable. Knowing what to hold onto and what we believe in is such a worthy investment and helps us let go of what doesn’t feel in alignment. How would you answer the following: I believe ____________________ I stand for ______________________ I am willing to rise up for __________________ I want to feel ________________________________ I long for ____________________________ I know ________________________ I trust __________________. I believe your breath is a prayer. I believe words are prayers. What words do you wish to hold close to your heart? What clues does your body make available for your knowing? What captivates you? Draws your attention to it? That’s a yes. How might you give yourself permission to move closer to it?  I explore what the Mistress of Longing means by “leaving rose petals at the gate.” Whatever you’re saying yes to is what you are inviting into your life—what are you opening yourself to? Are the ways you are saying yes that are no longer congruent to the life you want to live? Discernment is a key to unlock your heart’s true vision and let it in. We “grow into” who we already are by listening, uncovering, acknowledging, embodying. It’s a process. A practice. A life’s journey.  We are growing into our own inner authority—this is part of the Great Call Back for our collective, our world. Knowing and living what is in alignment with our own inner authority, it serves the whole.  Becoming is coming closer to our soul—coming home to that which is true.  Using “first thought, best thought,” as a practice. At least as a place to begin in order to understand and know your yes. At any time, the one word prayer “ensename,” as given by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, is a powerful way to learn what your yes is. It means “show me.” There is great strength and medicine in asking to be shown. Messages from the body and heart and the truth they reflect. The body came knowing what is true—what is a yes. If for any reason that is triggering or not available to you from current or past events in your life, please do reach out for support and safety. You are sacred and worthy of having the life you long for. How do particular words FEEL when you say them? That’s an important exploration. Words are a prayer when we use them and say them. If you are working with a word(s) for the year—consider how that word is a prayer, an altar, a sacred space to hold what you believe in—your yes. I share my poem entitled Catch the Stars. I also relate back to the previous episode when I channeled the Akasha and the Great Star Nation for the month of January. If you haven’t listened yet, you might want to check it out.   ”catch the stars, drink down their light, say   I am rooted I am real I am holy delight.”   Thank you for listening. May you know boundless blessings.   If you feel called to explore your yes in more depth with me, visit my website here to learn more https://www.shegathersbeauty.com/. I have an exciting announcement—the opening of The School of Wild & Holy and my new course, Unlocking the Magnolia Teachings. Doors open October 19th! Seats are limited. Visit the She Gathers Beauty to learn more and apply. Today I share a poem entitled “Of Belonging” and set a sacred place to welcome in the topics of relevance, refuge, and reverence. We address loneliness and isolation, chaos, and the longing for more ease and connection. ”We are not broken.” We dive deeply into the Mistress of Longing’s message that we are not alone and explore ways to locate and feel connected to the unlimited resources and support available to us. What do and can we find refuge in? This is an essential question and one that can lead us into a practice of re-membering when everything feels like it’s being dismembered. Who is your “inner council of trust” and what does that mean? How can they be more available to you now? A very basic introduction to the Shamanic journey, what it means, and the gifts our ancestors and helping spirits can offer during troubling and heartbreaking times. The importance of reverence for nature, the land we live on, those who came before us, spiritual lineage, and the limitless well of hope we can tap into. The empowerment that comes from longing and acknowledging it is there; our desire to make contact with something greater, and accessing the enchantment of life to imbue and be imbued with grace from the inside out. How can you bring the truth of you into the present here and now so that it builds a container of trust, hope, calm, and restoration? Ritual, prayer, and pleasure—tools and resources that soothe the nervous system. Understanding longing as an opening that leads to the place where compassionate wisdom resides. The sacred, sovereign space of your heart and a short heart cave experiential to increase relaxation and enliven well-being. As always, may you remember that you are sacred, this moment is ceremony, and you do get to live your wildly naked truth. If you like what you heard, please share with someone who might enjoy it, and leave us some kind words and a five-star rating to help more people find us! Thank you for listening!

Hello friends! Today, I’m joined by Erica Courdae, an entrepreneur, coach, and consultant who is dedicated to expanding how multicultural professionals, managers, lawyers, coaches, and creative small business owners interact with the world through the lens of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion.   This DEI conversation is a big one, which is why I want to get your wheels turning for how you can start leveraging your business and your platform to create more change no matter what phase of business you’re in.  As I mentioned in Episode 51: The Power of Money, which PS if you haven’t tuned in, definitely go have a listen as we talk about what’s really keeping you from stepping into more earning, but in that episode, I started sharing a few big shifts that have been happening over here at Wild & Holy headquarters (aka, my soul) these past 2 years, especially in regards to seeing the opportunity we have as business owners to leverage our platforms for more awareness and change.  If you’re new to me, first of all WELCOME!  I’m so glad you’re here J  But if you’re new, just to catch you up, I think it’s incredibly important that our businesses are an extension of our values and for the most part we might think of this concept in terms of what we choose to be vocal about, what we choose to take a stand on, what organizations we choose to publicly support and so on.  And no doubt, those things are important.  We have such massive opportunity to use our platforms to raise awareness for causes we care about and if you follow me on social, you know that’s a big way of how I continue to challenge myself to use mine, but today, I want to talk about some other ways you can also use your business to love the world forward because chances are, you’re probably overlooking some subtle shifts that can have a huge impact on: serving a more diverse audience,  making your work accessible to more people,  creating an inclusive workplace and company culture as you grow, and  starting to tackle disparities that can help others level up – whether that’s directly through your business’s offerings or ways you choose to give back, create a movement, or put forth energy to create systemic change.    Find the full show notes here!   Connect with Erica on social: Instagram LinkedIn Website Ways to Work with Erica:  DEI In Business Workshop Series Ask All the Things Call

Megan is a leadership coach and former psychotherapist who works with women entrepreneurs to build sustainable business. As she winds down her other business, a private coaching practice for women and couples, she’s leaning into her business Wild & Holy, which hosts masterminds and retreats for women who want to create businesses that support them energetically. We talk about some of the values that Megan weaves into everything she does: community, vulnerability, and tolerance being three of the most important. She also talks about her launch process and how she’s appealed to a target market of business owners who have a bit more experience under their belts. And we wrap up by touching on Megan’s decision to talk more about politics on her social media and in her business, and how this has impacted her work.

How former psychotherapist turned coach, Megan Hale, lost her religion but reclaimed her faith after the death of a close friend at 23 and the realization that, "It was never about being worthy for God; it was about being worthy for the translation in which God was being delivered to me." Time for an Enoughness Revolution! In this podversation: Megan's journey to becoming a psychotherapist then coach and why she feels her work is more powerful now on the other side Why Megan left organized religion "It was never about being worthy for God; it was about being worthy for the translation in which God was being delivered to me." How a friend's death at 23 evoked an existential quest What "Wild & Holy" means for her The books that helped light the path for Megan through her spiritual crisis: "The Art of Power" by Thich Nhat Hanh, "The Alchemist" by Paolo Coelho, "The Celestine Prohecy" by James Redfield and "Love Warrior" by Glennon Doyle Melton "Love each other enough to hold space for differences" Why anger was the door to healing and spiritual re-connection "Every single part of you gets a seat at the table." The power in asking yourself, "Who am I being in the world and why?" Be careful of what you say after the words "I AM ____." Are you okay with repelling people? Why you should be! How if you don't claim your 'enoughness,' you end up stifling your much needed energy "Love is unconditional but relationships are not." "The double edged sword of bravery is that you're exquisitely aware when you aren't practicing it." Today, I'm speaking to the lovely Reshma Thakkar, the founder of Made with a Purpose, a social enterprise committed to empowering girls and women in India with education, skills training, and economic stability. (P.S. She's giving you a Wild & Holy discount at Made With A Purpose!  Use coupon code WILDANDHOLY at checkout!) Reshma’s journey began in Southwest Michigan, half a world away from the rich culture and deep-seated traditions of India. Despite the distance, her heritage shaped her personality and colored her life, engraining a deep appreciation for the world and people around her. Throughout her education and career, including a degree in Health Administration and a high-powered position as an IT consultant, Reshma continued to pursue her love of exploration. To-date, she has visited over 35 foreign countries, and embarks on new adventures as often as possible. It was along this journey that Reshma was summoned with an inexplicable, deep desire to return to her homeland, India. She made the bold decision to take a three-month sabbatical from her successful career to journey overseas alone. What followed would eventually lead to her being featured on the groundbreaking television event, Belief, produced by Oprah Winfrey. Reshma has since been featured on OWN, MSNBC, Yahoo, The Huffington Post, Variety, and other major publications. She has utilized this opportunity to launch the Belief Explorer Quest with featured guests such as Mastin Kipp, Don Miguel Ruiz, Arielle Ford, Marianne Williamson, Danielle LaPorte, and more. It’s Wild & Holy Weekend Week and I am so excited. The thing I love most about Wild & Holy is it’s such a huge permission slip to expand, to step beyond the fear of “too much” and “never enough” and ground down into what you know to be true – that it’s far worth the risk to be who you are than to abandon your soul for anyone. These weekends always inspire me to step into new depths of my own truth and show up more bravely in the world and there’s still ONE more spot to join me! I know if you’re ready to live braver and live truer that this weekend will help you get there! Check out the show notes to claim the last spot AND I’ve even extended a last minute payment plan to make this an easy YES. Just private message me on FB for that option if you need it or email me at livetrue@megan-hale.com. Let’s see…. What else is going on? Ah, yes! The Free 4 Day Wild & Holy Truth Challenge is coming up next Tuesday where I’ll be giving away over $1500 in prizes, but more importantly, I’ll be guiding you through some of the same processes I use at Wild & Holy Weekend to help you do your own Wild & Holy Work FOR FREE! You do NOT want to miss this. If you’ve been feeling you’ve been living on the sidelines for far too long. If you feel like you’ve been stuck in the voices of “not enough”, and feeling the excruciating tension that creates because you know you’re here to do more, say more, give more, become more – than you MUST join me!! So, today, we’re diving into a topic that came up during our After the Episode segment last week that was SO good, I wanted to do a whole podcast episode on this because it’s major! If you tuned into After the Episode, you know I talked about how our view of God shapes the way we approach the world. And there are three pieces specifically I wanted to dive into. The first is who we imagine God to be. The second is where we imagine God to be. The third is who we imagine we need to be. Now, I want to hear from you!  Which of these resonated with you the most?  Join me for After the Episode right here on Facebook this Thursday at 11:30 CST to chat all things Wild & Holy Radio and your own spiritual growth!

Hello Friends! I am so excited about our mini-episode today and I can’t wait to share what I’ve been cooking up for all of us. As you all know…. The past three years have been such a personal journey of mine of unraveling the concept of enoughness and how we cultivate it to live lives that are in line with who we’re here to be. Last year, was a huge unraveling for me personally as I realized one of the biggest pieces of cultivating enoughness is having a deep understanding of your truth and most importantly your Divinity. This is why Wild & Holy Weekend exists, why Wild & Holy Radio exists, and now why Wild & Holy Truth exists – a free four day challenge that helps you know your truth, trust your truth, and own your truth so you can be more Wild & Holy. This challenge came out of a desire to help you tap into your own wisdom and more importantly learn to trust it. One of the most empowering things we can do is stop abandoning ourselves by pushing down our truth. If we’re here to expand into our fullest expressions, which I believe we all are! (I’m looking at you Soul Seeker!), truth is the foundation for doing that. And trusting it is the vehicle that allows you to not just dream about the person you want to be and life you want to have, but actually fully create it! On September 26th – 29th... we’ll be joining together for 4 days of truth with a simple assignment each day that will take no longer than 15 minutes. If you’ve ever done one of my challenges or courses before, you know I have an uncanny knack for asking some of the most powerful questions that lead to blow your mind clarity, feed your soul action, and you walk away feeling more empowered and inspired to be the person you’re here to be. This challenge will be no different! Except I’m bringing the past 3 years of wisdom with me this time and it’s going to be SO GOOD! But…. It gets even better. It’s been on my heart for some time now to offer a way for others to do this Wild and Holy Work who aren’t able to join me for a Wild and Holy weekend or 1:1 coaching. So, I’ve created a beautiful, glorious, sing to your soul group experience that I’ll be talking about in a couple of weeks all geared toward helping you trust your truth even more so you can do your Holy work in the world. We’ll be diving into the most potent stories that are keeping you stuck and once and for all reclaim those narratives that keep you doubting your divinity and if I must say so myself…. This program is my best work yet! The person who shares this challenge the MOST is also going to win a free seat into this program. It is SO incredibly important to me that more and more of us are awakening to our truth and living it. It is only by doing this that we become the potent forces of change and love this world so desperately needs, and what makes this even better is that we get the deep soul level satisfaction of knowing we are living into who we're here to be and nothing is a fulfilling as feeling as if you’ve arrived! This is why this Wild & Holy Work won’t just change the rest of this year, Sister but blow 2018 out of the friggin’ water!! I’ll be announcing all the details on how to win in your inbox later this week, but this challenge is going to be SO powerful and SO transformative for how you walk through the world!!! Are you ready to be more Wild & Holy, girlfriend? More embodied, more confident, more certain with more faith, more trust and less fear and less doubt? This is the challenge that will help you get there! We’re getting started September 26th and I can’t wait to see you there. Tell a friend, bring a friend and most importantly bring yourself because we’re about to dive into what it means to be Wild & Holy and I can’t wait for you to live your truth bravely in the world !

Wild & Holy® Radio: Grounded Wisdom for Life & Business

This episode is brought to you by the magic of Wild & Holy Weekend! There is still space to join me for a weekend of hugs, tacos, truth and expansion, but the time is now to secure your spot.  Visit WildandHolyWeekend.com for all the details and to buy your ticket! Happy Labor Day, friends.   I hope you're enjoying a nice holiday weekend if you're in the US.  We're diving into a hefty topic today and I'm going to do my best to do it justice, although I suspect this topic will continue to be explored through multiple lenses as we continue on in Season 1. Today, we're diving into healing religious wounds and this is a big one!  In fact, I'd say this is one of the biggest reasons so many of you identify with the idea that you can be both Wild & Holy and I hope that our community continues to be a safe space for all of us to do our spiritual healing and find more wholeness and permission to be who we are. A few things before we start: 1.  I want to approach this topic from a place of deep healing, but there are still hurts I'm very much unraveling.  It's important to me to be as unbiased as possible when discussing this because my goal isn't to make religion bad or wrong, but rather identify the parts that haven't resonated with me, the parts that have caused wounds and how I've navigated this thus far. 2.  I'm very much still in the process of exploring religious wounds.  There's been a great deal of healing here for sure, but I'm in the depths of reopening old wounds this year to gain deeper perspective and further healing.  That's what prompted me to return to church to do this exploration. So as we dive in here, know I'm human with my own experiences and perspectives, but it's my intention to approach this topic with as much grace, compassion, and objectivity as I can muster.   Things mentioned in this episode: My Definition of Religion: a set of rules, rituals, beliefs, morals, and values that create a subset of culture that one find identify and affinity with to explain the concept of God and how this God should be worshipped. Why many people seek religion: religion aims to describe the mystery and complexity of life, how to have a relationship with God, and provides a road map of what's good and bad, right and wrong, as well as gives an understanding to big ideas such as what happens after we die and how we explain life events. What happens when we start to de-identify with a particular religion is a process known as existential individuation in which we start to cultivate differing beliefs, values, morals, rules, and rituals that guide our lives. This can be quite the unraveling of personal experiences as it calls a lot into question. Furthermore, religion serves to meet a big basic need of acceptance and belonging.  When we start to pull away from a faith, we can feel as though we don't know where we belong.  There's loss here and because of this, the grieving process is absolutely normal. We must feel and process through the stages of grief to find our way to more wholeness and grief is anything but a straight line. Episodes mentioned in today's episode:  The Expansion Series: Episodes 3, 5, and 6. What I Mean When I Say the Word "God", Ep 8. Other things to consider: There's a difference between pain from a religion and pain from God.  These aren't always the same thing and it's important to treat them as separate processes. Lastly, healing wounds requires forgiveness.  Forgiveness doesn't make something okay or mean that you agree with something. Forgiveness means you absolve someone for the actions they took based on the beliefs they held. Join me this Thursday over on my Facebook page for an in-depth discussion on healing religious wounds and how we can do this work together! This episode also points you back to donating to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Please don't stop giving or finding ways you can help.  This will be a long road of recovery and rebuilding. Let's continue to support those families and businesses who will be rebuilding for some time to come. You can donate to any of the organizations listed here.  Are you loving Wild & Holy Radio? I'm loving this Transformational Thursday episode, you guys!   We're talking about two big topics today- SURRENDER and PLEASURE and how we find these things inside a pause.   Both of these things are so curious to me, especially that this pause that is presenting itself right now isn't causing near the amount of stress as it used to, but why? In today's episode, I'm sharing some of the big pieces that are allowing me to experience this slower time of life with less guilt and more pleasure and why surrendering to God's timing is a big piece of the puzzle.   Join me as I share some big aha's as they're showing up right now PLUS an update on Wild + Holy!   And if you're one of the two women I mention in this podcast, find your next step right here!
