Are you willing to set aside your personal view of God, and replace it with the accurate and correct view of God? What we believe about God affects every part of our lives.
Is the bible credible, Is the bible reliable, and is the bible relevant? These are questions that have been asked throughout history but are being asked by more people today, especially by Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha. We as Christ followers should be able to answer this question because, even though there is evidence that there is a God all around us, the claim of Christ as Messiah comes directly from the recorded scriptures of the bible.

Having heard the Word of God, the people gathered in Jerusalem join in prayer to the LORD. They bless the LORD's name for His acts of mercy throughout their history. He showed mercy in making a covenant with Abraham. He showed mercy in delivering Israel from Egypt. He showed mercy by providing for their well-being in the wilderness. Even when Israel rebelled against the LORD by worshiping a golden calf, the LORD remained faithful and merciful. He brought them to the Promised Land and sustained them through the time of the judges. He sent prophets to call His people back to Himself. When they did not listen, He sent them into exile, yet even then, He did not make an end of His people. Recognizing the steadfast love and mercy of the LORD throughout their history, the people who have returned from exile now call upon God to show that same mercy to them as they desire to live under His covenant anew. Rev. Ryan Ogrodowicz, pastor at Grace Lutheran Church and School in Brenham, TX, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Nehemiah 9:1-38. "God Brings His People Home” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. After 70 years in exile, the LORD began to fulfill His promise to bring His people back to the Promised Land. In the years that followed, faithful clergy and dedicated laity worked together to rebuild Jerusalem physically and restore the people of God spiritually. Through it all, God was at work to keep His promise of bringing the Savior into the world in the fullness of time.

Do you have a “small” view of the God of the universe and enjoy worshiping Him in ways that are relaxed and familiar? Listen to this message to begin to understand God's immensity and His holiness. See that He is unique and that any time someone in the Bible was in His presence they fell down in awe. The challenge for us is to focus on God and His uniqueness and not to diminish His greatness by our acts of worship.

This week, we were excited to welcome Bryan Clark, the Senior Pastor Emeritus of Lincoln Berean Church, to speak. Bryan preached on Genesis 1:26-28, 31; 2:7-9 and 18-25 for his stand alone sermon on our view of God. In these verses, we learn about the first family—Adam and Eve—and how God created them to be a taste of the trinitarian relational love within himself. The purpose of family is to perpetuate the kingdom of God for generations. But, unfortunately our families often fall far short of God's perfect love, and can negatively influence how we view our Father God. Instead, we must unpack our hidden insecurities and doubts that originated with our families of origin, in order to see God for who he truly is: perfect love that we can fully trust. Praise God!
This paper introduces the topic of “God image” and attachment. We explain what a God image is and how a healthy or distorted God image develops. We also explain God attachment styles and how our image of God influences how we relate to Him. Finally, we discuss the consequences of a distorted God image on religious and self-concept struggles. We present a theory of God image based on classical Islamic sources and modern psychology, and the results of our scientific study on the topic.Note: The audio files are generated using AI technology. This past Sunday, Pastor Jeff delivered a profound message about our attitude in giving. He referenced the story of the widow that gave two mites--or what was considered a small amount of money. He admonished us to search our hearts as we pursue to give of our money, time, and talent. We should strive to give “all that we have,” today, knowing that our God will meet all our needs tomorrow. This woman moved Jesus deeply and he commented to the wealthy about her gift. Luke 21: 3-4 “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” Our aim: to offer our ALL to God, in view of Him.

It's week four of [Formed.], and one of our favorite people is back on the podcast: Jamie Winship. This week, Jamie talks to us about why separation creates suffering, the necessary practice of self-emptying according to Jesus's teaching in Matthew 5, how to develop a right view of God, and a brilliant concept called "closed-handed anxiety." As usual, it's a fascinating conversation, so prepare for some note-taking. Non-Negotiable #1 - Romans
We need to be transformed and be connected.
Rev. Andrew Preus, pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Haven, MO, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study 1 Corinthians 6:1-11. St. Paul continues the theme of judgment within the Church by addressing the matter of lawsuits among fellow Christians. St. Paul is amazed that the Corinthians dare to stoop to such a low, for they ought to have the mind of Christ. If they will one day judge angels as Christians, they should right now be able to judge such trivial matters like property among themselves without dragging the case before the pagans. The fact that lawsuits arise at all among Christians is already a shame by itself, for Christians are to live as brothers who would rather be defrauded for the sake of reconciliation within the family of God. They had been among the unrighteous before, when they lived apart from faith in Christ engaging in all kinds of wickedness. Now, however, they are washed, sanctified, and justified by the true God. “Nothing But Christ Crucified” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through the epistle of 1 Corinthians. In response to correspondence from the Christians in Corinth and reports about matters arising in the congregation, St. Paul writes to address various matters of Christian faith and life. Throughout it all, he directs our attention to the power and wisdom of God for our salvation: Christ crucified.

Many believers in Christ struggle with their faith after child loss. It can feel like God did not keep His end of things, and some scriptures feel like a slap-in-the-face reminder of this. Instead of refusing to read the Word because of those verses, Laura discovered there were scriptures that took on a whole new […] The post 236: My View of God’s Word after Child Loss appeared first on GPS Hope.
