By Brian Scott - The Holy Spirit is a gift that blesses us with several important things - here are just three of them.
Were you dead in sin before God made you alive? In today's Words From The Word devotion, Pastor Roderick Webster opens Ephesians 2:5 (KJV) — "Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ (by grace ye are saved)" — and unpacks one of the most powerful truths in all of Scripture: God does not wait for us to be good enough. He meets us in our spiritual death and gives us life. You might be asking...- If I was spiritually dead, how could I even respond to God?- What does it mean to be "quickened together with Christ"?- Does my union with Christ really change my status before God?- How can I live out this new life when I still struggle with sin?Key points from today's devotion:- Before salvation, every person is spiritually dead and unable to save themselves- God made us alive, raised us, and seated us with Christ — three gifts of grace- Our new life is rooted in our union with Christ, not our own effort- Just as God raised us out of spiritual death, He is powerful enough to sustain us- Romans 6:1-7 reminds us that our new life calls for a walk in newness of lifeIf this devotion encouraged you, please like, comment, share, and subscribe. After encountering Mary in the morning, Jesus next appears to his disciples that same evening. In their fear and uncertainty, Jesus brings His Presence, Peace, and Spirit. Even in the midst of your own deep doubt and fear, how is the Lord encountering you? "Three Gifts From Our Risen Lord," Eastertide, John 20:19-31, The Rev. Dcn. Melissa Lewkowicz.
Holy Thursday - Mass of the Lord's Supper
Gold: The royal metal signifies Jesus' kingship. Frankincense: Signifies Jesus as the High priest/mediator between God and man. Myrrh: A burial ointment, meaning, that Jesus had to die for the salvation of all.
Three King’s Day was yesterday, January 6. It is the time that marks the end of the Christmas season and the visit of the Magi to the Christ child. Many speak of the three kings — in song, story (some fable), and poem — but what we know is that there were three gifts that are mentioned in Matthew 2: gifts of gold, incense, and myrrh. These three gifts hold multiple meanings — symbolic on different levels, but they also might be a point of introspection for us as we move into the new year. Today, on the podcast, what gifts of wealth (gold), worship (incense), and weakness (myrrh) do you and I bring into 2026? Whether as an athlete, coach, staffer, or chaplain — and whether it is into our work spaces or into our homes or church communities each of us brings these gifts (given by God) and they are a beautiful part of who we are. From the Touchline is a short-feature podcast with Rev Brad Kenney, Founder and Executive Director of Soccer Chaplains United and Volunteer Chaplain to the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer. Rev Brad and occasional guests touch on various issues around the topics of faith, family, and football (soccer). Also, don’t forget that you can listen in our app, SoccrChapUtd, in the Apple and Google store.
On the Feast of the Epiphany, we remember the gifts brought to Jesus — gold, frankincense, and myrrh. But the bigger question is this: What three gifts are you offering the Lord? In this Peace on Earth reflection, Father Jonathan Meyer invites us to look honestly at time, talent, and treasure: • Do we give God our time — even a few minutes a day? • Do we offer our talents for the good of others and the Church? • Are we generous with our treasure, trusting God with our hearts? Epiphany isn't just about what the Magi gave long ago — it's about what we choose to give now. May this Christmas season help us offer meaningful gifts from the heart. Happy 11th Day of Christmas. Amen. #PeaceOnEarth #Epiphany #CatholicReflection

Evangelist Greg Strickland delivers a Christmas message from Matthew 2 at Okolona Christian Church, exploring what the gifts of the magi—gold, frankincense, and myrrh—teach us about worship. He challenges listeners to honor Jesus as King with their best offerings, recognize His deity through prayer, and follow Him by dying to self, showing how these ancient gifts still call believers to true faith and obedience today.
The gifts of the magi point to who Jesus really is. Today’s verse: Matthew 2:11 Please give Bible Boost a rating or review. Doing so helps other people find it!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
As the holidays approach, parenting teens and adult kids can bring up for us a wish for more ease, more connection, and a way to let go without feeling like you're losing yourself or your relationship with your kids. In this episode, I share three powerful gifts you can give yourself that will change how you experience this stage of motherhood. We'll explore what it means to stop taking responsibility for other people's emotions, how to stay connected to your teen without conditions or expectations, and why treating yourself with compassion is essential as you navigate the emotional shifts of letting go. If you've been feeling drained, stuck, or unsure how to show up as your role as a mom evolves, this conversation will help you approach parenting teens — and the empty nest ahead — with more intention and emotional freedom. These simple but meaningful shifts can transform not just the holiday season, but the way this next chapter of motherhood feels.

La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Delivered by Melinda and Celine from the Parish of Saint Marinus Yohanes in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 2 Samuel 5: 1-3; Rs psalm 122: 1-2.4-5; Colossians 1: 12-20; Luke 23: 35-43.THREE GIFTS FORCHRIST THE KING The title for ourmeditation on this Sunday, Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of theUniverse is: Three Gifts for Christ the King. We end our liturgical year C witha great celebration, which is the solemnity of Christ as king of the wholeuniverse. He is our King too. A king who is glorified and honored at his very solemnmoment, he must be seen in his palace and sits on his throne. Every one comesfrom all over the kingdom to worship and give thanks. Visitors do not forget tobring gifts or souvenirs for the king. This is a commonpractice in the world in terms of honoring a king. For the Lord Jesus Christ asking, one might ask: where do we go to visit and give our gifts as signs of ourhonor to Him? For sure, in this world Jesus has no palace and throne. He has nosoldiers and staff surrounding him in the palace. Our gospel of todayillustrates that the palace and throne of Jesus are the Golgotha Hill and thecross on which he hangs, in the midst of blasphemies and torments come from hisenemies. We, the members ofthe Kingdom of Jesus Christ must have the proper attitude of faith, so we cancome to visit our King without shame, hurt, and anger. On the contrary, we mustcome to pay our homage with an attitude of joy and gratitude. Why? Because Christthe King is very different from the kings of this world, which are the same asKing David, who will disappear one day with all his authority and glory. Christthe King reigns in the world and in heaven. In heaven lies His palace andthrone. His kingdom is the kingdom of Light. By looking at thecrucified Christ the King, the gifts we should give to Him should be our faith, love and hope. Leaders should be teachers of the faith, but they actuallyinsulted and cursed Jesus on the cross. We must offer true faith to our King, because in and through Him our faith in God grows and bears fruits. We believein the truth that Jesus Christ suffered greatly under the power of PontiusPilate, was crucified, died and was buried. We believe that His throne in theworld is the Cross and his disciple we embrace that Cross as our strength. The soldiersarrogantly insulted Himself as king. They are like those who have no love, though their lives are entirely as servants and helpers, but they really do nothave love in treating Jesus Christ. We must treat Jesus Christ with true love, namely through our self-denial in following the way of His cross. A criminalconvicted with Jesus joined in insulting Jesus, and this reflects how sinnersand marginal people expect salvation through the actions of Jesus Christ. Wealso have that hope, that is, we die with Christ and rise again with Him.Let's pray. In the name of theFather... O Lord Jesus, our King, strengthen us on the path of Your way of theCross until we reach salvation. May we do not lose hope of that salvation. OurFather who art in heaven... In the name of the Father...
Pain can steal roles, confidence, and connection. Tim and Bart explore how to spot identity loss and how to guide patients toward a values-led, reconstructed sense of self using language, movement, small wins, and co-created experiments. Why identity matters: chronic pain often causes biographical disruption—a break in the story of “who I am.” Neuro/psycho frame: predictive processing and the “model of me”—how ongoing threat can dominate self-inference. Clinician toolkit: Narrative reframing (precision over catastrophising). Values clarification (ACT-informed prompts that patients can actually answer). Small wins & the Three Gifts practice to re-evidence competence and joy. Co-creation & teams to expand the landscape of affordances. Vignettes: CRPS-style limb disownership language; makeup/hair example as “new me” exploration. Micro-experiments: safe, graded role re-entries across movement, connection, work, and creativity. God promises He won't withhold anything good from His children. But what do we do when our grief and loss say otherwise? Either God is lying, or He means what He said. Could it be that there is goodness in this suffering of ours?

This blogcast explores “Look Up, Set Out, and Give" written by Kate Fowler and read by Tom Carani. In this blog post, Kate recalls the example of the Magi and encourages us to keep our head held up and our eyes on our goal of deeper relationship with Christ. This Incarnation is awe-inspiring. So awe-inspiring, in fact, that it even draws strangers. The Messiah foretold was long-awaited by the Chosen People of God—the Israelites. And yet, how many do we see at the birth of our Lord? The Visitation of the Magi foretells the inclusion of the entire world in God's plan of salvation. He has come not only to redeem Jews, but Gentiles—peoples of every land and nation. As Paul wrote in Sunday's second reading, “the Gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body, and copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.” What can we learn from the magi? In his homily on the Feast of the Epiphany last year, Pope Francis boiled it down to 3 things:To look up and see the starTo set outTo give freely Let us imitate the magi in our lives of discipleship. They were not complacent, but so observant that they were able to recognize God's sign: the star. “The Magi were not content with just getting by, with keeping afloat,” Pope Francis said last year. “They understood that to truly live, we need a lofty goal and we need to keep looking up.” They were vigilant, ready to go when the time came. And their hearts were receptive, disposed to the signs of the times. From there, they set out on a journey which would lead them to Christ himself. This journey required effort, planning, and sacrifice. And finally, they came bearing costly gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. They met the generosity of God by reciprocating generosity. Pope Francis continued, “To give freely, for the Lord's sake, without expecting anything in return: this is the sure sign that we have found Jesus.” As we reflect on the significance of the Feast of the Epiphany, let us look to the example of the magi in our lives of discipleship. Let us look up beyond the distractions of the world in order to see God's star. Let us take the risk of setting out on our journey closer to Christ with joy. And let us give generously to a world which needs the generous love and mercy of the Christ-child. When we celebrate the Feast of Epiphany, we tell the story of astronomers from the east who bring three gifts. Christmas pageants and hymns portray these visitors as three kings. There are however, only two kings in the story. The fake one named Herod sitting on a throne in Jerusalem and the real one, Jesus, lying in a manger in Bethlehem. Isaiah saw the day when the nations would worship Israel's kings, bringing gold and frankincense. The myrrh in Matthew's story adds a substance used for burial and the cross looms. Jesus is not just a personal savior but a ruler who brings a new kingdom in his life, death, and resurrection.
Verno and Jacoby go through the Christmas Day slate of NBA games and react to each one, starting with the epic thriller between the Lakers and Warriors (01:48). They then move on to discuss the Sixers' performance in their win over the Celtics, as well as Victor Wembanyama's huge game in a loss to the Knicks (24:33). Also, can the Mavs be competitive without Luka (41:31)? Lastly, the guys share three gifts from the season so far (53:17). The Ringer is committed to responsible gaming. This is the story where Mary goes to visit Elizabeth. It starts with Gabriel meeting Mary and goes through Mary's stay with Elizabeth. Traditionally it's called The Visitation. This story gives us three gifts to think about during the season of Christmas. First, the gift of community. Mary goes to see Elizabeth. Why? She needs someone. She needs safety. She needs affirmation. She needs someone to recognize, deepen, and celebrate the work of God in her life. She needs love, not judgment. And in Elizabeth, she gets all of that and more. Is there a better vision for what the church is called to be? What would it look like if we provided a place like that? I think we're trying here. Second, the gift of blessing. Mary shows up all confused and scared with questions and doubts. Elizabeth gives her a blessing. What does it mean to bless somebody? To give life to them. It's an art we should all strive to be better at! Last, the gift of hope. Hope that God will fulfill his promises to us. That God is already out there fulfilling his promises to us. All we have to do is look for it and we'll find it. In a world where tough things happen - a world filled with unknowns. Let's lean into community, blessing, and hope. I don't know for sure, but I think it's one of the best ways to live. Speaker: Aaron Vis Scripture: Luke 1:39-56 http://bible.com/events/49362755
