Hey guys. If you're hearing this the same day that I am posting it on the feed, then I am doing a 24 hour livestream TOMORROW, Saturday November 23 starting at 4pm Eastern/3pm Central, at twitch.tv/woebegonepod to celebrate 4 years of WOE.BEGONE. This is the 3rd year in a row we've done a 24 hour livestream and it's always a ton of fun. We'll write some music (and maybe even perform some live), play some games like Jackbox, Nancy Drew, and Zoombinis, pick up where we left off last year with a WOE.BEGONE season listen-along (we're up to season 3 at this point), and so much more. This event is a blast every year and usually results in my brain leaking out of my ears by the end of it, so stop by twitch.tv/woebegonepod this weekend and say howdy. Again, that is twitch.tv/woebegonepod from 4pm Eastern/3pm Central starting tomorrow, Saturday November 23 and going for a full 24 hours. I hope to see you there. Hosted on Acast. The big wheel keeps on turningOn a simple line, day by dayThe earth spins on its axisOne man struggle while another relaxes~ Massive AttackBen and Tao are on a roll, fleeing the all flattening, deadening turn of the great wheel of time - or not time, just a massive, physics defying concrete cylinder crushing everything in its path for all eternity - aka The Eternal Cylinder. Your hosts try to make sense of the allegories therein, pondering metaphors and surrealism, story narration, procedurally generated landscapes, the perks of multiplayer gaming, and when an animal's trunk is not a trunk but a snoot. As usual the game's ending is outlined with some spoilers, but given the nature of the story, the gameplay impact would be minimal.Content Warning: PEGI 12. Swearing. Ranting. One offensively audible clip from the Teletubbies.Clarifications:* The UK's Teletubbies narrator was Tim Whitnall. This is a seriously disturbing show with an adult's eye.* Stephen Fry explains the story behind the ‘Pocketed It' compilation. (TL;DR - he stumbled over the phrase while narrating the Harry Potter audiobooks so JK Rowling inserted it into every subsequent book).* Ben enjoyed this take by Lewis Gordon of Vice: “I couldn't help but look back towards the gigantic cylinder, an image nearly bursting with allegorical possibilities. In a way, we're all the tiny Trebhum, doing whatever we can to postpone our eventual annihilation. In another, perhaps we—and I mean this in the humanity-encompassing sense of the word—are closer to the cataclysmic rolling pin, flattening and destroying everything we encounter.” And this one too: “For this time of gigantic crises we find ourselves in—none more so than that concerning the environment—it's a fitting allegory, a reminder of the power that resides in the collective, and that our differences are an asset, not a hindrance.” You can follow Lewis here if you haven't yet abandoned Twitter to the vultures and ashes.* If you nostalgia hard on the Zoombinis reference, we recommend this video ‘deep dive' into the game by GamesOnHardMode - it's worth it for the comments alone: * According to his Wikipedia entry, Peter Molyneux did not have any involvement in Creatures, Tao's memory playing up (again). It was created in the mid-1990s by English computer scientist Steve Grand.Audio extracts:* Dance of the Knights by Sergei Prokofiev aka The Apprentice theme* Other tracks from The Apprentice by Dru Masters* Sir Alan Sugar, also his fictional secretary, whose real name is Samantha Moon, not ‘Frances'.* Left 4 Dead OST* Apex Legends OST* Outer Wilds OST* Void Bastards* Midsomer Murders* Stephen Fry - ‘pocketed it' compilation* Baldur's Gate 2* Chicago - If You Leave Me Now* Blues Brothers - Everybody Needs Somebody to Love* David Cronenberg's ‘Crimes of the Future' trailer* Zoombinis* Creatures game SFX* Spore OST* Astroneer OST* Line of Duty TV Series - End Title themeSubstack: Sign up free to read our reviews and commentary at www.pixelvision.netTwitter: @pixelvizEmail: pixelvisionpodcast@gmail.com Get full access to Pixel Vision at www.pixelvision.net/subscribe

Well, we’ve made it through Season 6 and basically 2020, so there’s lots of reflecting going on. We reminisce about the very first episode of Parks n Wrecked and how wildly unprofessional it was (as if we’ve gotten more professional, HA). And of course, we’re going over some of the key moments of Season 6 of Parks and Rec.Remember when Andy had a job in London and hopped into a dumpster? Or how about the time Chris Bosh made a guest appearance as an Eagletonian high schooler player despite being nearly 30 years old? Or when Leslie Knope got recalled?Yes, we all remember the Unity Concert, and there was plenty of personal growth in Season 6. This was the season where Ann and Chris left us after birthing a beautiful child. Donna’s a realtor now. April is working with animals, which she LOVES. Tom sells his old company and opened up Tom’s Bistro. Ron and Diane got married and had a baby and we barely heard about it! Larry retired yet he’s still working all the time. Classic Larry. And then we time-hopped three years at the end of the season!Plus, wild moments with the wind and ultimate frisbee, an in-depth look at butt fumbles, a deep dive into the Logical Journey of the Zoombinis computer game, and a full-on reflection of 2020 as a whole. We also take a trivia quiz that crashes on us halfway through, and Sean alienates his friends by criticizing both The Office and Parks and Rec.And remember: 2020 may have been terrible but we all still accomplished good things this year. Take a moment to reflect on those and have a wonderful and relaxing holiday. We’ll see you next year!Oh, and did you want to check out some of the other things we mentioned? We’d love to see you at Good People, Cool Things and Crisp Bounce Pass or dropping a review on this Bic Pen for Her or the book How to Avoid Huge Ships.DRINKS OF THE EPISODEMadria SangriaMichelle Sparkling Brut
