What happens when a data scientist with IBS meets a digital health operator scaling virtual GI care? You get more than an acquisition—you get a glimpse of where gastroenterology is headed. On this episode of The Scope Forward Show, Asaf Kraus (founder of Dieta Health) and Bill Snyder (founder & CEO of Cylinder Health) join me to announce Dieta's acquisition. But we didn't stop at the deal.We talked AI, clinical outcomes, and why digestive health—despite affecting millions—remains underrecognized in digital health. Cylinder has already served 100,000 patients. GI care represents a $136 billion market, mostly buried in fragmented smaller markets. That's starting to change.Asaf's journey—from Uber to founding Dieta—shows what happens when lived experience meets data science. Bill's work at Cylinder is proof that virtual GI care can scale with rigor and stay grounded in patient outcomes. This conversation isn't just about what just happened. It's about what's next—and who's willing to build it.*Key takeaways:01:41 - Acquisition announcement on The Scope Forward ShowAsaf explains that he deliberately chose Praveen's platform because of its broad reach and innovation-focused GI community. He cites last year's GI Mastermind Conclave as an example of how influential this community can be.03:23- Dieta Health's OriginsAsaf recounts how a personal bout with IBS during his time as a data scientist at Uber inspired him to apply data-driven personalization to GI care.05:17 - Dieta's AI Revolutionizes GI DiagnosticsDieta ran four clinical trials and served 25,000 patients, confirming the viability of AI-based stool classification. Asaf references the trials to highlight that the solution is clinically grounded, not just theoretical.06:53 - Cylinder's Perspective and Asaf's MotivationBill details how he has known Asaf for years and admired Dieta's dedication to personalizing care.10:52 - The Scale and Scope of CylinderCylinder has already served 100,000 members with GI conditions and is on a rapid growth trajectory.15:12 - Future of Gastroenterology and AIPraveen asks both guests to imagine GI care a decade from now in light of recent AI leaps.22:36 - Bill's Background & Founding CylinderBill traces his career from Humana (understanding the payer/provider landscape), then Virta Health (diabetes-focused) to eventually founding Cylinder in 2021.25:27 - Fundraising for CylinderBill clarifies how investors recognized GI's massive, often-hidden market potential—buried in scattered claims data—and were drawn to Cylinder's proven outcomes and cost-saving evidence, resulting in about $50 million in raised capital.29:01 - Advice for entrepreneurs to fundraise in GIBill urges entrepreneurs to reveal GI's large, underrecognized market, noting that scattered claims data masks its full cost.32:19 - Bill's Path to SuccessBill highlights two key enablers: first, educating the market on GI's huge needs and second, strengthening partnerships with payers, employers, and providers.35:14 - Cylinder Health's operational modelCylinder's two-pronged offering combines a core product (health coaches + dietitians) with a full-stack virtual clinic (gastroenterologists + lab/prescription services).38:41 - How Cylinder differs from competitorsCylinder commits to measurable outcomes, ROI, and patient satisfaction.44:33 - Embracing Potential DisruptionWhen asked about AI advancements possibly surpassing human capabilities—thereby disrupting Cylinder's model—Bill views it as an opportunity rather than a threat.*#digitalhealth #gastroenterology #thescopeforwardshow #nextservices #gi #future #ai #theshift

Mark Gresham of PSI - PCI is a renowned industry leader in the dive and compressed gas industry. He debunks myths and disinformation about scuba tanks (formally called cylinders), offering detailed explanations. Some of the controversial topics include: Are titanium regulators flammable when filled with Nitrox? (or blended / partial pressure oxygen mixes) Is there any reason to roll or shake scuba tanks to mix the blended gas inside? Should valve hand wheels on a scuba tank still be turned back a quarter turn? Does the air in a scuba tank go bad after a while? What makes a VIP (Visual Inspection Sticker) valid? And how often do scuba tanks explode? Mark discusses and answers those topics and more in this interview where we finally get to the bottom of these common questions in the dive industry. Mark Gresham is considered the leader in Cylinder Inspections, analysis, valve, and fill station expertise. In this interview, we sit down with Charles from Lamspeed to explore what it takes to turn Toyota's GR Yaris into a record-breaking machine, using a surprising amount of standard parts! The team currently holds the title for the world's fastest GR Yaris, with a 9.6-second quarter-mile at 155 mph at the time of filming and a 9.4-second pass since then, resetting their own record. Charles dives into the challenges and engineering breakthroughs Lamspeed encountered along the way.Use ‘PODCAST75' for $75 off your first HPA course here: https://hpcdmy.co/hpa-tuned-inTo push the Toyota Yaris G16E-GTS 1.6-litre, three-cylinder engine to extreme levels (pushing almost 900hp out of a 3-banger is impressive!), Lamspeed relies on key components from top brands, including MoTeC for advanced engine management, handled by Phil from Armour Motorsport, and Carrillo CP for custom pistons and rods to support the high-power demands. For turbocharging, Lamspeed initially used a Garrett G30-770 for circuit racing and has since continued refining setups to extract maximum performance with a Kelford Cams valve train aiding in great turbo response along with the retained variable valve control system. A ported head and supporting mods added around 180hp along with head studs custom-produced by ARP to address head-sealing issues early in development, a critical factor for reliability under high boost.Transmission upgrades include a Kotouč 7-speed sequential gearbox for drag racing reliability and previously tested options from Drenth. With Lamspeed's detailed and iterative approach, every part and upgrade has been meticulously selected and tested to push the limits of the GR Yaris platform without compromising performance.

On this week's episode of “Stitch Please,” Lisa takes a fun, deep dive into the world of industrial sewing machines, especially the mighty cylinder arm! She's joined by bag-making pros Renee Thomas and Rochelle Wadley, who share their journeys into sewing and how they fell in love with these powerful machines. Renee tells us how she started sewing as a teen, took a break, then came back to it in her twenties, while Rochelle recalls learning the ropes from her dad and stitching since she was little. Both eventually upgraded to cylinder arm machines to tackle tougher fabrics and thicker layers. They rave about how these machines make it a breeze to sew through challenging materials like vinyl and chipboard. Along the way, Lisa, Renee, and Rochelle compare the cylinder arm's speed and power to regular domestic machines, highlighting how much easier (and faster!) bag-making can be. Mainly retrofit though.Informed by Lisa's experiences as a retrofit coordinator, technical lead at RetrofitWorks, and Technical Manager at The Retrofit Academy she knows an awful lot about the challenges faced by retrofit practitioners. Ferrari announces their newest supercar, called the 12Cilindri, which has a new 12-cylinder engine. I know... the name is, well... interesting. But, this is also the company that named their Hypercar Ferrari "The Ferrari" (LaFerrari), so we shouldn't get too caught up in the name. We should be caught up in the fact that we have a new naturally aspirated V12 engine powering this thing. - With that news, on Episode 54 I dive a bit into the shenanigans at Tesla and the recent layoffs. Fisker going from bad to worse, a revitalization of a classic Jaguar coupe, and the latest updates on the GR Corolla.-Sit back relax, and enjoy! In this harrowing chapter of H.G. Wells' seminal sci-fi masterpiece, "The War of the Worlds," we are beckoned into the chilling crescendo of suspense as 'The Cylinder Opens.'As the sun dips below the horizon, painting sky and soul with anticipation, we find ourselves witness to an event of unparalleled otherworldliness. A gathering throng, pulsing with a morbid curiosity, encircles the mysterious Martian cylinder that has plummeted from the heavens to the common soil of Woking.Unbeknownst to the fragile human collective, they stand on the precipice of an encounter that will irrevocably alter the course of mankind. Within this chapter—a microcosm of the entire book—the themes of hubris, the unknown, and the inexorable march of evolution bubble to the surface like the fearsome stirrings within the metal tomb before us.
