From DIY to million dollar dream homes, I'm Sonja Landis, an Eco-Luxury Interior Designer, Home Stylist, and insatiable life-long learner (and lover) of all things home: design, decor, furnishings, finishes, architecture, landscape and color. I'm also a shopper, and on this show I share everything I learn and find so you can take that knowledge and those ideas to make your own home super unique, stylish, organized, and very on-trend, without having to do all the work and research and running around yourself. (Because we're all busy, and honestly we don't have the time, energy and/or know-how to do it ourselves, am I right?) So here I am, your new personal Interior Designer turned BFF shopping partner. I'm dropping the pro tips, tricks and info you need to pull your home together and give you that sumthin sumthin you always feel like is missing and longing for. I'm podcasting on location, from all the places you want to get to but never do, and from even cooler places you never even knew existed. All your nesting wants, desires and design fantasies found here, giving you the jump on a WOW factor you want to create in your own space. I know you want that... we all do! Our home is our story, and we all want it to be incredibly amazing. That's what I've got for you. So come along with me, see what I see, learn what I learn, experience what I experience, and let's all live more beautifully, sustainably, and stylishly every single day.
Listeners of Designer Shopping Spree that love the show mention: sonja, always on point, design, tips, authentic, sense, advice, entertaining, must listen, stuff, love, amazing, great, time, show.
I'm back but not completely because it's complicated, per always.
Needed a reboot, all circuits overloaded, too many tabs open, be back in one week after quick hiatus.
OMG I love Modernism Week so much - it's an event I go to every year in Palm Springs and 2021 starts TODAY! I've got 2 house tours scheduled and planned. Wanna go with me?? Shyeah, I know you do!
Trying to get thru six topics with my BFF and runner of all things Designer Shopping Spree, Shannon Street.
All the things, all the info, all the low low down details of The Long Beach Antique Market and also please help my little tiny relationship dilemma?!?! Thank youuuu!
Here it is! The very first, LIVE ON LOCATION!!! podcast episode of Designer Shopping Spree - the way I had intended and envisioned this journey before Covid-19 and all things 2020 took over (spilling of course into present day 2021 as we're not through this whirlwind yet). Join me on a short little episode live at the Long Beach Flea, my very first time and I was excited, happy, and having so much fun.
Late episode... but a fun one! I'm talking all the steps and my process when shopping Vintage, Secondhand + Retro items for my home (and for clients too!) We're talking good bones, bad smells, and everything in between.
Babe-And-A-Half Lana Tran walks us thru her Sophisticated Nursery, pointing out her jumping off purchase and the ultra personal + unique ideas she used to bring baby's story a deep set of rich family culture and roots right from the start.
And we're the two best friends that anybody could have We're the two best friends that anyone could have We're the two best friends that anyone could have And we'll never, never, ever, ever, ever leave each other (Meet my BFF Shannon because now we work together - again! - on Designer Shopping Spree wheeeeee!!) Also it's kind of a long episode because we got extra chatty but we'll be quicker (probably) moving forward, sorry about it.
Meet Tish Tucker, CEO + Founder of sustainable lifestyle clothing brand Lazy Gyrl Lounge... changing the lives of busy women with sexy + sophisticated slow-fashion staples for everywhere.
Parenthood is already a rodeo, the nursery setup shouldn't be... Today we're talking about the Sophisticated Nursery: peaceful, streamline, organized, calm and functional... and how to successfully accomplish this unicorn of an idea. (Hint: it IS possible!) This is Part 1, with Part 2 coming up very very soon when I interview the babest babe you may ever learn about: my cousin and brand new (like less than 2 weeks) of a Mama Bear, Lana... where she'll walk us thru some uhhhh-dor-ablely creative and smart ways she created a Sophisticated Nursery for her bundle.
New Series Alert! Meet my friend Green Robyn (Robyn Baker) - clean beauty and toxin-free skincare/makeup goddess who has given me the gift of the prettiest skin I have ever had in my life AND allowed me to cross over one of my major 2021 Yearly Goals in the first couple weeks of January: the goal of finding toxin-free makeup that ACTUALLY works and that I'm happy with... it's been a longer road for me to find this than I was hoping for, but hey, I finally got it right, so now I'm talking about it with all of you, and Green Robyn too.
Celebrity Fashion Designer, and Sustainable Fashion Designer, Jeff Garner wants you to take off your yoga pants. And so do I. In today's episode, we're going to talk about why.
Today we chit chat with Juliette Nelson, founder of JUNURI, author or Sharing My Lens: The College Experience, and eyewear designer/founder of Nurilens. We discuss effectiveness and creativity and our own unique set of layers we bring into our interactions with others on this path of life that we're all on. Enjoy!
Who will win the family saga in our house over investing in a eucalyptus sheet set or not? (Is there even a question as to who will win this debate?? I think not.) Spoiler Alert: I do! Because eucalyptus is amazing for our health, rest and bodies and amazing for the planet too! And who can argue with that kind of logic?? Exactly! No one can! But how does it all turn out? Well, you'll have to listen and see...
Today I sit down for a chat with Artist, Best-Selling Author and Multi-Millionaire Creative Hippie Leonie Dawson.
Happy 2021! I'm a Minimalist (again!)... Here, let me explain...
Living in the duality of always wanting BOTH! and the "yes, and" state of mind. Also Happy New Year yay 2021 is almost here.
Kids Say the Darndest Things, Josiah's 3rd Birthday Edition. It turned out cuter in my head when I planned this episode out, but working with a 3 year old is actually a disaster so we just got what we could and sorry about it if it's annoying. Because 3 year old are pretty annoying. Cute. But annoying. Happy Holidays and Happy Birthday to my baby Jojo.
Unpacking Kiss the Ground, an activist documentary on Netflix, with my son Aidan... Getting him on board with his crazy Mom who is passionately trying to save the planet and get everyone else to, too.
I got nothin but my feelings and real talk for you today.
Negative Ions. In the bedroom. You want them. Why? Well, I'm going to tell you all about that. How would you go about getting them? Funny you should ask, because I'm going to tell you all about that part, too!
Discussing the Top 4 2021 Interior Design Trends I see coming for our homes and spaces, and also I'm doing it a solid six weeks earlier than I normally do, which is crazytown... But... I'm very excited about 2021 and what's to come, so I was ready to jump into it with you early. Exhaling 2020. Inhaling 2021. Ready??? Me too!
Another Hometour with my Homegirl Alex Vincent in her Oceanside Luxury Loft Ocean View aka The Jungle House... In her words, "what it would look like if Palm Springs and Puerto Rico had a baby" and let me assure you, I'm totally for it.
How many finger pokes in a day-in-the-life of a Floral Designer? And how does one go about starting a career surrounded by fragrant loveliness everyday? And why does a flower supplier sound an awful lot like having a drug dealer? All this and more, with Elle Victorio from Little Shop of Fleurs!
We all could use some peace and serenity in our own homes, our own little slices of sanctuary, coming up this week, am I right or am I right?? (I'm right.) I made a list of 11 very easy ideas to implement if you need them. I know I need them all. Plus probably Xanax, CBD, Essential Oils, and possibly a tranquilizer. Just kidding. Maybe. Anywho, I call this the Election 2020 Edition but really I don't talk about politics too much in the episode. Just kidding. I do.
Yay! The holidays are fast approaching and I love love L O V E ! decorating for all of them! It's so much fun and I love pulling out the old boxes from the garage and going thru memories from years past and making room for all the stuff and dusting and cleaning and rearranging and... wait... Do I really love decorating for the holidays tho?? I tell myself I do. But truly I'm a Costco size bag of mixed emotions, just like the Skittles Mix we bought (and already opened) 2 weeks ago.
Kitchen reno? Or kitchen reno dreaming? Well, then this episode is for you! We're talking Kitchen Reno Dreams (+ the Disasters to avoid!) straight from people who've JUST gone thru it themselves. What to definitely do, what to skip, when to splurge and when to save...
I'm watching Netflix (again) and Vince is picking out documentaries for me, then falling promptly asleep, leaving me alone with my anxiety and emotional eating while I try to figure out how to save the planet.
Today I flip thru my Elle Decor September 2020 issue with you because, well, frankly I haven't had a chance to and I want to and I thought maybe it would be fun or funny or interesting to do it together. Maybe you like it? Maybe you hate it? I have no idea how this is going to go hahaha! Also Aidan got a new electric guitar and he gives us a tiny concert at the end (kind of unwillingly but also I'm his Mm and he loves me so he did it anyways).
Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed and I'm feeling the loss of that. What an icon, what a warrior. I needed to talk about it but not too long I promise. I also went to a Farmer's Market and bought a traditional Mali Mud Cloth throw from a wonderful gentleman who filled my head with knowledge and love for my new find, and then I got all kinds of mixed emotions about it but still really do love my throw. If you're enjoying this Podcast, please rate + review and share if you're one of those people because it allows me to keep bringing you new and better content and I love you for that. Thank you!
I have an ongoing love affair + semi-infatuation with all things Contemporary Colombian Design right now and I'm going to tell you exactly why, plus introduce you to a rug that I need in my life and you just might end up feeling the same way.
Not a lot of design content for you today, or ANY design content to be more accurate, because I went to my very fabulous friend's birthday party yesterday and had the best time and spent all day today being hungover and useless and I'm not even a little bit sorry about that lololol.
What in the Water?!?! France has got it going on. Zac Efron is possibly Down to Earth. Darin Olien is real-life Kristoff from Frozen. Also I watch a lot of Netflix. Down to Earth: The Water Episode. Mind. Blown. Get involved with a rate and review! Thanks for being here!
Here's my very first Q & A Sesh with my 15 year old son Aidan, who is Not-So-Average at all if you ask me. Also can you believe my teenager wants to actually hang out and podcast with me?!?! I can't believe it either, I'm low key freaking out about it. Feeling very blessed this kid is mine. We'll do more of these, so if you have questions be sure and send them in! We're collecting them now!
Hometours with Homegirls! Please welcome Indira Greys and find her on her Podcast - The Veteran Network
Who knew what a crazy motherf*cker of a year 2020 would be, right?! Well this episode is a lookback of 2020 Design Trend predictions when we all thought it was going to be a GREAT year ahead, so already we were pretty off base... So what did come true? What didn't? We talk all about it here... Also I had all my windows open and my acoustics are as shitty as this whole 2020 had been, so sorry about that. I'll plan better next time and bring in some egg crates because I hate this audio for you, but I don't have time to re-record before release. Please accept my apologies.
The last episode on this topic was a late night, brain-fog mess so I wanted to give one more shot on this topic before moving the f*uck on! Because it's for sure time. And visuals for this moodboard episode ARE ALREADY UP on my Instagram so go follow along there! @juxtainteriordesign
This is very flawed episode, but possibly still entertaining, and my brain + focus was a mess. But that is real life, so I'm letting you see it anyways. Unedited, raw, and even annoying lol.
I'm in Chicago! I'm in an AirBnB! And I would change almost everything about it. Also it's a heat wave outside. I'm going to FINALLY update my visuals on Instagram for you. Sorry that I've been sucking at that and falling behind. I'll do better.
When a box shows up at my door, I am happy. Very happy. Also Causebox is the best box subscription and I love them so much.
Parenting is hard. Parenting toddlers is ridiculous. I needed to rant, so I did. Also I love my kids a lot so even when I rant it's all in jest, no need to call CPS.
A Jungalow look back episode to February, when I adventured to L.A. for a Sample Sale and met the epic designer + artist Justina Blakeney.
Anyone else online shopping or just me? Or just filling carts on websites and then abandoning them when you see the total price? Just me? Yes? No? Ok good I thought so... I knew it wasn't just me...
Another Intro for me, Sonja, because 2020 is crazy and everything changed since my January Intro so I'm just starting over and not sorry about it.
Nothing Interior Design related because the world is in pain, people are in pain, and nothing else matters if humanity + kindness + compassion are lost.
Intro + Eco Luxury Interior Design + Hi I'm Sonja
