Introvert influence: How to lead from within Introverted people often get a bad wrap for areas like leadership. A common belief is that introverts don't make great leaders. Like somehow recharging your energy from solitude rather than being in front of a crowd means you can't lead well. This couldn't be further from the truth! While at first glance a person could seem antisocial, unfriendly, shy or even lonely, their capacity for great leadership could surprise you. It's just a matter of how they use their introversion to serve others. We all could learn a thing or two here!

We can spot a public servant pretty easily, right? They are either a firefighter, police officer, teacher, elected official, researcher, psychologist, public works professional, soldier, doctor, or … whoa! There’s a lot of public servants out there! This week is National Public Service Recognition Week! To celebrate, we’ll ask the question… Who is a public servant? According to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the federal workforce is composed of an estimated 2.1 million civilian workers. The number jumps considerably when state and local public servants are included not to mention grant recipients and contractors. The bigger point is that there are lots of opportunities to make a difference as a public servant. As Martin Luther King Jr. reminds us, everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.
Work-life balance is a myth, right? Something so sought after must be just out of everyone’s grasp if no one has it. Otherwise, we wouldn’t hear so much about it. It’s an interesting question! Most often, we hear about this as a top desired feature in a job when we’re working with clients. That said, we’ve found that few can define work-life balance let alone really describe what it would mean to them. Still, work-life balance is possible! The bigger questions are: (1) what is important to you and (2) what are you willing to embrace in your life to get it.
What motivates you? Besides money, job security, and necessary benefits- what keeps you at your job? Beyond meeting bare essentials, our work can be a source of inspiration and satisfaction. Here’s a quick peek to get us started: - Notice when time flies by for you - Recall projects that mattered most - Follow your happiness to create success Plus, we’ll answer your questions from the Gov Geekdom!
