Podcast relating to the affairs of the Ummah and Islamic revival.
Considerable number of politicians, including Muslim rulers, around the world seem to be concerned and raising voices about illegal occupation of Palestine by 'israel'. One such example being President of Turkey, Tayyib Erdogan, using harshest words against the occupiers. Are these politicians, and international organizations, finally realising the attrocities unleashed by occupier 'israel' and raising legitimate voices against it? Listed to the activist from Palestine roots, Br Amer Alwahwah, discuss the issue with Br Wassim Doureihi.
The recent political divide between the left and the right has dominated much of the commentary in the west over the last few years. Certain social and economic trends have touched peoples sensitivities on both sides of the spectrum. What are the origins of such a divide, where is it heading and how should Muslims navigate such impassioned and at times, aggressive stances.
The instinct of reverence is innate and constant in human beings, for it is the feeling of the need for the Creator and the Organiser, regardless of how people interpret that Creator. The instinct of reverence does not exist amongst the animals, it the only instinct unique to man. It is triggered when man perceives his own weakness and mortality which generates certain emotions Man is frail, weak, easily hurt, prone to illness and is destined for death. He is nothing but a spec of sand in the vast Universe which submits to Allah (swt). Realising ones mortality aids in sparking the feeling of reverence and veneration of the immortal, Allah (swt). The Western culture detracts people away from reverence. The ignition of the survival and procreation instincts dominates Western societies and those strongly affected by its culture. Unfortunately this reality has afflicted some Muslims where the reverence instinct is only ignited very occasionally, possibly in the month of Ramadhan, during an illness or when facing a death.
Trust in Allah is the path to reassurance and safety in the world of anxiety and disappointment Here comes the role of Tawakkul, trust in Allah, which Allah commanded the prophets and the believers to abide by, and Tawakkul on Allah the Almighty is linked back to the Islamic creed, in it the confession of the servant and his submission to Allah, and handing over all his affairs to the one Creator, who disposes all his affairs, and the Manager of all his conditions, small and large. In the biography of Sayyiduna Ibrahim, Sayyiduna Musa, Sayyiduna Esa, Sayyiduna Muhammad ﷺ and the other prophets, peace and blessings be upon them all, we have a good example, as they adhered to the rulings and orders of Allah, relying on Him (swt), taking the reasons leading to the results. The Muslims will not return to their glory and strength without truly understanding the idea of Tawakkul in Allah in the correct manner and truly having trust in Allah (swt), because the greatest of things can not be achieved only by material strength. It is limited no matter how much it is, but the belief that there is a greater power; an unlimited power behind them who helps them, which is the power of Allah the Almighty.

Muharram, the new year, a pledge, and the significance of the Hijri migration. Being in the blessed month of Muharram (1443AH), let us reflect on its significance of being chosen as the beginning of the Islamic calendar. - The beginning of the Islamic Calendar was adopted during the rule of Umar (ra). When the lands began to expand so far, they needed a reference time when he began to issue written orders to his governors. Ie. Abu Musa al-Ashary (ra) complained that Umar's letters needed to be dated. - A second reason for initiating the Hijri date was when a complaint over a debt reached Umar (ra). They knew the month but were confused over the year, so Umar decided to introduce the calendar. - After consulting with the companions, they agreed that the Hijri migration should be the starting point. - The reason Hijrah (migration) was chosen over other significant Islamic events was because it was considered the most essential event that established the Islamic nation and separated between truth and evil. More on these points in this episode!
How should we navigate through our way regarding all the information and misinformation that is available to us on all the different platforms? Join us in this episode as Shiekh Rian unpacks this from an Islamic perspective.

Adversity, Trials and Tribulation is part of every human's life. Man will be tested by Allah in various ways, levels, shape and form, more so with the ones who believes in Allah s.w.t, as Allah says in the Quran, "Do the people think that they will be left to say 'We Believe' and they will not be tested?". When best of the creations, Rasoolullah s.a.w, and the best of generations, Sahaba r.a, were tried and tested, do we then expect to enter Jannah without being tested, as Allah mentioned in the Quran? In this light, it is important to know and understand how to respond to these adversities as per the guidelines from Islam. Listen to Sh Rian delve into this topic and enlighten us on how to face the adversities as instructed by Allah s.w.t and explained by the earlier Salaf Scholars.
Recently we saw Trump supporters barged into Capitol Hill amid tight security and advance warning. Capitol Hill is a symbol and sacred house of Democracy. Both left wing Republicans and right wing Democrats believe in Democracy, rule by it, safeguard it, propagate it and uphold its values. In other words both are flagbearers of Democracy. What is it then that pushed the right wing, hard core nationalist, Trump supporters to attack their own sacred house of Democracy? Is it just like any other attack or riots that we see else where in the world, or for that matter in America itself, or does it indicate a deep fissure within American society that has been present since many decades or centuries which we saw being exposed by last years black lives matters? More importantly is it a beginning of decline of America, and secular liberal world order, that can lay a breeding ground for Islam to come back as a new world order. Listen to Br Wassim Doureihi dissect throught this recent attack on Capitol Hill and know how it can potentially be a good news for the Ummah on return of Islamic world order.
Under the current world order, it has become the norm to see teenagers still being treated like immature youngsters so much so that it becomes so hard for them to take any decisions for themselves in their 20s and it takes for them to be in their 30s or 40s to contribute to any changes in society, and that too is bare minimum. The result of which is that we see the majority old aged politicians being in the position of ruling. This is in contrast to what it was under Islamic world order where teenagers used to head the task of conquering lands and ruling over them; likes of Osama bin Zayd (r.a.), Mohammed bin Qasim (r.a), Salahudding Ayyubi (r.a) and many more. What is that which made these Sahabas (r.a) and Muslims thereafter very strong and mature in their young age to put them ahead of all seniors of their time? Why don't we see such developments and maturity in our young Ummah now? And how can we nurture these leadership qualities to produce great leaders like in the past? Listen to Br Mohamed Al-Wahwah as he takes you through the Seerah of Rasoolullah s.a.w on how he raised young teenager Sahabas who went on to rule the world with absolute Justice and by Allah's laws.
Shiekh Riyan discussed an important topic on positive reinforcement through the way of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).
This episode is titled "What U.S. election results mean for Muslims, for U.S. and for the World" and is presented by Brother Wassim Doureihi.
Khalifa ‘Umar Ibn ‘Abdul ‘Aziz, popularly known as 5th Khalifa Rashida, was one of the astitute and righteous Khalifa that Ummah has ever seen after the 4 rightly guided Khulafah. He understood the true meaning and responsibilities of being a politician, that politics meant taking care of the affairs of the subjects and that he will be accountbale to Allah, which made him cry for hours on end and restrict himself to the simplest life that was filled with remembrance of Allah, death and the hereafter. Our beloved Prophet s.a.w has indicated the first 4 Khulafa as rightly guided ones. Why then 'Umar Ibn 'Abdul 'Aziz, who became Khalifa after several Khulafa outside the Khulafa Rashida, popularly know to be similar to the Khulafa Rashida, if not same? What is his lineage and upbringing that contributed to it? And what are the lessons we take from it both as a parent and the Ummah? Listen to Br Mohamed Trad talk about life of the great 'Umar ibn 'Abdul 'Aziz and ponder on the take away lessons.
In continuation of our last episode podcast on the topic of "Australian Muslim or Muslim in Australia", Br Wassim Doureihi discusses this important issue in-depth with Br Yahya Alam. Listen to the podcast to know and understand how the current world order, based on Secularism, forcefully drives this concept of identifying ourselves with one of these two diametrically opposite paradigms - which is not a mere 'names', but a phenomenon by itself. With Australia approaching summer and lots of festivities around - that becomes part of defining one's national identity - it becomes more incumbent upon the Ummah to differentiate between these two terms and adhere to correct one based on Islam. These terms are not limited to Australia, but applies to every other Muslim living under this new nation states.
We, the Muslims living in Australia, do we identify ourselves as "Australian Muslims" or "Muslims in Australia"? Looks like both are the same, but it is not. What is the difference then? Is it just the semantics or is there any significant difference to the way it is framed? The situation of the Ummah has changed post 9/11, especially so for the Muslims living in the west. We all live this difference practically every single day. There is an agenda set for us by the west towards which we are being pushed to achieve their goals. It is in this light these terminologies were born and we are being deliberately identified using one over the other by the west. Listen to Br Wassim Doureihi explain difference of these two terms, why it has been coined, what are its political implications and what we need to be aware of.
French President Emmanuel Macron has been very vocal recently against Islam with statements like 'Islam is in Crisis'. France has historically been very aggressive against Islam and it is where the concept of Crusaders was born. They were at the fore front in attacking our lands and disrupting our way of life. They were also instrumental in producing the current concept of Secularism and the way of life we live under. When Secularism gives 'Freedom' to all religion, why is Macron attacking Islam again? What is that thing of Islam troubling the likes of Macron to issue such statements? Did Muslims of France do anything recently that provoked the President? Did the Muslims resort to any skirmishes? Or is it just the Hatred that they breed in their heart against Islam? Listen to what Ustadh Abu Anas has to say about this incident and refresh the historical facts to know more about it.
Culture and Civilization have been one of the most confused concepts amongst the Ummah. People who stand on Haqq, who differentiate between these two and who have been advising the ummah not to take political and social sciences from kufr civilization, have been more often than not attacked by our own brothers with hard questions like "Why do you then take their technology? Why take their mobiles and laptops?". Adding to the agony, our Ulemas themselves are confused and divided on these. What does Islam say about Culture and Civilization? Can we take both or one of them? What sciences we can take and what not? Did it have any bearing on bringing down Political Islam by Kuffar? Listen to Sheikh Riyan elaborate on these two very important topics and know for yourself how to deal with these.
Engaging with our Islam today is the discussion point for this episode of Khilafah Podcast where one must avoid being in on two extreme of the scales, idealism and defeatism. On one hand you have idealism, which is broadly described as an ideal where we fantasize or pursue a utopia that only exists in the books. And on the other where you don't just accept the reality infront of us but we succumb to it and we alter our Islam and behaviour to the point where it contradicts it. Listen in on this intriguing episode now!
Known as one of the fiercest and strongest of the companions - Abdullah Ibn AlZubair took a stance later on his life that is an example of patience, courage, steadfastness for the Ummah of Mohammad (Peace be upon him) until the day of Judgement. Listen to the amazing life of Abdullah Ibn AlZubair by Brother Mohamad Trad in this podcast.
The Visit of the Colonialist Macron is not in the Benefit of its People! Macron, the ruler of colonial occupied France, comes to us after a hundred years, arriving and wandering, thundering and frothing, as if he was the ruler of Lebanon, and they choose a prime minister and impose on all the warring parliamentary blocs his selection without delay, and impose the ministerial statement and the ministerial formation. Then they talk to you about a hundred years of independence and sovereignty, and even celebrate with the old colonial and enemy planes roaring over their heads!
By the will of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, we have lived to see another month of Muharram and the start of another year in the Islamic calendar. How is this marked? What memories are evoked as a result of it? What is the content on the hijrah of the Prophet ﷺ? How is this used to inspire our generation of Muslims?
Recently UAE & Israel made a pact of diplomatic relationship between two countries. What does this deal mean with Israel trying to assimilate Palestine into its land? Is it good for Palestenians in particular, and the Ummah in general? Is there any influence from external entities in finalizing this pact? Is it related to the upcoming 'Deal of the Century'? Or is there any conspiracies behind this to deceive the Palestenians and Ummah? Listen to Ustaath Abu Anas and Brother Ramzi discuss about this important matter that should concern every believing individual in the Ummah and know the politics behind this move.
The message of Eid needs to resonate with all of us and it needs to be relevant to the context in which we live. We are part of the Ummah, we are connected to the Ummah, Ummah's priorities are our priorities, its pain is our pain, its joy is our joy. This is not a symbolic rhetorical expression, but it is real. Listen to Br Wassim Doureihi continue on Lessons from Eid-ul-Adh'ha, the topic that was started two weeks ago.
The Ummah woke up to the devastating news of a large explosion in Beirut that some have equated to the 2nd largest explosion after the second world war atomic bomb in Hiroshima/Nagasaki. Join us this episode as Ustaath Abu Anas and Brother Wassim discuss the situation, the tragedy of Lebanon from its inception and the how the Ummah should direct it's response to such tragedies.

"It appears that the reason ten days of Dhul Hijjah are superior (to other days) is due to the coming together of the mothers of the acts of worship found in them. They are Salah, fasting, Sadaqah and Hajj. You will not find this in other days." (Ibn Hajar) In this episode, Shiekh Rian delves into the merits of the sacred month of Dhul Hijjah.
In this episode, Br Abu Anas addresses the latest events in Turkey surrounding Hagia Sophia particular due to its strong sentiments with the Ummah. Listen on in as we discuss it's implications, the context and how it extends beyond the particular event.
This episode is a reminder and a testament to the will and power of Allah SWT and how in many ways Allah SWT soothes the hearts, invigorates the minds and re-energizes the body by providing constant reminders of his strength, his omnipotence and how life as a whole follows a preordained path which we can never deviate from. Allah سبحانه وتعالى says in the Qur'an: وَاللَّهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَىٰ أَمْرِهِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ “Allah has control over His affairs, but most people do not know!” [12:21].
In this episode, Shiekh Rian talks about "The forgotten obligation Khilafah" that by and large the ummah has taken for granted for the past 1400 years and historically it's an obligation that wasn't really up for debate or discussion since the beginning of Islam. Just like other obligations (Hajj, fasting during Ramadan, Salah), the obligation on establishing Islam in a practical sense as a government in the form of Khilafah was never debated among scholars and always agreed upon. Imam al-Qurturbi (rh.a.) said, "The Khilafah is the pillar upon which other pillars rest".
In the second series of this Episode, Br Abu Anas speaks about the need to train, nurture and teach Islamic values, norms and principles to our family is all the more serious given the context of the widespread assault on Islam, Shari`ah and Muslim family values as being antithetical to anything British, Western and liberal. Allah سبحانه وتعالى says in the Qur'an: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ “O believers, save yourselves and your family from the Hellfire whose fuel is men and stones”
In the first series of this Episode, Br Abu Anas speaks about the need to train, nurture and teach Islamic values, norms and principles to our family is all the more serious given the context of the widespread assault on Islam, Shari`ah and Muslim family values as being antithetical to anything British, Western and liberal. Allah سبحانه وتعالى says in the Qur'an: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ “O believers, save yourselves and your family from the Hellfire whose fuel is men and stones”
In this episode, Br Bilal Merhi talks about the epidemic of racism that the West is facing clearly stems from its ideology and its institutions. Racism is not inherent in the nature of the human being rather it is cultivated in the individual's personality by the culture one carries. Thus, to free ourselves from racism we must re-evaluate the culture and the ideology that we carry. Islam is the only ideology that has addressed this issue in such a way that it builds personalities that melt the differences between people rather than construct barriers. It is the only alternative left for us. Allah سبحانه وتعالى says in the Qur'an: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ وَأُنثَى وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ “O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.” [Surah Al-Hujurat: 13]
In this episode, Br Abu Anas briefs how politicians, authorities and media exploit their position in society and access to people's living rooms by spreading demonizing propaganda against Muslims and Islam by using Manipulative words. "Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam."
In this episode, Br Sufyan Badar focuses on The Black Lives Matters (BLM) protests in the wake of the tragic death and murder of George Floyd in the US have flung the world into civil uproar. In many ways it underscores a number of issues that need the dawah carriers specifically and the Muslims in general to highlight to the people so that they are guided in the right conclusions.
Just as the issue of rights for the black people come into the spotlight, Br Abu Anas explore why Islam is the only way forward for all people, especially African Americans. Ahmad (22978) narrated from Abu Nadrah: Someone who heard the khutbah of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) on the second of the days of at-Tashreeq told me that he said: “O people, verily your Lord is One and your father is one. Verily there is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab or of a non-Arab over an Arab, or of a red man over a black man, or of a black man over a red man, except in terms of taqwa. Have I conveyed the message?” They said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) has conveyed the message.
In this episode, Br Wassim exposes the marriage between capitalism and racism that is overtly clear, as is the fact that the capitalist system was never meant to work for everyone. The nature of the capitalist system and its concentration in the hands of the few means that the subjugation of blacks and other ethnic minorities in the US and other states, including the economic and social disadvantages they face, will be a continuing legacy under this system. In contrast, the Islamic system, the Khilafah based upon the method of the Prophethood, is made to work for all creation alike – black and white, Muslim and non-Muslim, male and female without distinction, for it is from the Creator of the whole of mankind, Allah (swt).
In this episode, Br Owais Razvi enlighten us on the importance of Hadith and how muslims should respond to attacks against Sunnah. Allah commands His slaves in surah al-Hashr: وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانتَهُوا ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّـهَ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّـهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ “And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain. And have Taqwa of Allah. Verily Allah is severe in punishment.” [59:7]
In this episode, Sheikh Rian talks about really important topic, which relates to momentous occasion and event with regard to worshiping Allah SWT i.e. month of Ramadan and celebration of Eid al Fitr. Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the ones with Taqwa (piety)).”
