Salah (S2) Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه: “Salah is an intimacy. Sadaqah is a sacrifice. Fasting is a shield.” “When one goes to meet a leader, he presents a gift to curry favour” such is the case when we stand before Allah ﷻ in Salah! Allah ﷻ says in Surah Muminoon, verse 2: “Those who are within their Salah, humble.” Ammar Ibn Yasir رضي الله عنهم uncharacteristically prayed 2 short Rakats; when asked why he replied: “to ensure there was no forgetfulness.” Muslim Ibn Yasar (r.h) never turned in prayer - even when the corner of the masjid collapsed, which startled the whole market place! Where are our minds during Salah…? “Woe to mutafifeen” (the ones who don't give in full measure/ the defrauders) for them is a valley in the Hellfire! Salman al-Farisi رضي الله عنه: “Salah is a weighing scale – whoever fills it will be rewarded in full, and whoever makes light of it - you know what Allah ﷻ has said about the mutafifeen
Seeking Sacred Knowledge What an excellent gift! What an excellent present a word of wisdom is! A Muslim hears it, he then wraps it up to gift it to his brother (Musnad). There is no Sadaqah (charity) like knowledge that is spread (Tabarani). The best Sadaqah is that a Muslim learns knowledge and then teaches it to his Muslim brother (Targeeb). Partake of garlic for it has a cure for over 70 ailments (Musnad).
Allah (SWT) is "'Kareeman" (The Abundant, Most Generous easily accessible Giver of endless good) and He (SWT) loves the generous people (Ibn Asaakir). Mankind gives Sadaqah only after dodging 70 devils (Ahmad).
"...Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity..."This week, I'm reflecting on several sayings of the Prophet Mohammad and the Quran and along with the definition of Sadaqah.Reflection questions:How are framing our messaging around giving to include this meaning of charity as speaking truth? How do we give our donors the opportunity to speak truth, to speak up when our missions are facing some type of external challenge?Reflection on quotes:We are in the middle of Ramadan, a holy month for Muslims. A common practice during the month is giving voluntarily to charity, which is also known sadaqah. The meaning of each religious concept of charity points to the underlying motivation. The word, sadaqah, is defined as to be truthful, true or sincere, to speak the truth, to establish or confirm the truth of what is said, sincerity, soundness, excellence in a variety of different objects and the giving for the sake of Allah. In general, sadaqah means a noble act of giving by a person to others sanctified for the sake of Allah in many forms and ways according to one researcher. So, this week, I'm reflecting on several sayings of the Prophet Mohammad and the Quran. As I read the definition of sadaqah, I thought about how giving brings truth to the donor, the organization or person receiving it, and to our communities. By giving, the donor has the opportunity to engage more deeply with the causes we serve. By giving, the donor lives out their true intentions and desires for our communities. By giving, the donor speaks the truth that our missions matter. These quotes have entered the public domain. What do you think? Send me a text. Hadrat Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al Aas (ra) Session 43 Virtues of Reconciliation Reconciling between people is greater than Praying Fasting and Sadaqa , because division and dispute is a shaver - it shears the faith. (Abu Dawood). The virtues are related to optional Fasting and Prayer. However, if the estrangement could lead to bloodshed, then the reconciling would be better than the Obligatory worship too for they may be redeemed later -whilst loss of life cannot be repaired (Mirqaat). The most excellent Sadaqah is to reconcile between two people (Tabarani).
Hadrat Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al Aas (ra) Session 22 A Glimpse into his Phenomenal Generosity What a blessing pure wealth is for a pure man (Ahmad). Abdullah inherits Egyptian gold from his father (ra). Spending during Haij is the same as spending in the Path of Allah (SWT) and will be multiplied by 700 times. (Ahmad). The following 3 things must be paramount during one's Hajj or Umrah; () The giving of Sadaqah - feeding others in particular (ii) Pleasant speech & (i) Giving Salaam to one and all.
Hadrat Abu Zharr (ra). Session 26 The Ascetic Secret Sadaqah extinguishes the Lords SWT anger, Preserving kinship ties, increasing one's life-span & rendering good to people protects from evil fatalities (Tabarani).
Hadrat Abu Zharr (ra). Session 25 The Ascetic The 3 partners in Wealth For the majority of the believers what is little and sufficient is far better than the abundant and alluring. Give your wealth in charity and you might perhaps get relief from the severities of the world. Greed is killing you whilst you can never fulfil it (Ibn Abee Dunyaa). They breed what they will bury. They build what will eventually be destroyed. They hold firmly to what is temporary, And They foraskew the everlasting, Abu Zharr (ra). The 3 partners in wealth; Predestination, Heir & You. Thus you strive your utmost and never be the most helpless of the 3. You will never attain piety until you spend out of that which you love (not which is spare) Surah 3 v92. The one rich in his heart will not be harmed by what they face in the world Whilst the one poor in his heart will not be enriched by how much they acquire of this world (Tabrani). Different types of Sadaqah The forms of charity.... Takbeer, Tasbeeh, Tahleel, Tahmeed, Laailaaha'il lal'laah, seeking forgiveness, enjoining the good & forbidding the evil, removing thorns/rocks from a path, guiding a blind man... (Nasaa'ee).

The Exalted Status of the Believing Women O Allah SWT forgive such women of my Ummah who are properly dressed (Baihaq). The Angels say, Glorified be Allah SWT who beautified men with beards and women with hair locks (Haakim). A woman who obeys her husband, discharges her obligation towards him.... would then attain a rank next only to that of a martyr (Tabarani). The best Sadaqah is to spend your wealth on your daughter who has returned [widowed or divorced] (Ibn Majah). If a daughter is born in the dwelling of a person and the father does not distress her, nor considers her an ill-fortune, nor does he prefer the son to the daughter, then Allah SWT will make that person enter Paradise (Haakim). The Angels take the baby girl under the shade of their wings, stroke her head & supplicate for her.... (Sa'eed ibn Manssor).
The Holy Month of Ramadan and the Glorious Deed of Fasting. And for this [Paradise] let those strive, who wish to strive Surah 83 v26. Whoever Fasts the entire Month of Ramadhan with Belief and expecting reward - then all his past & future sins will be forgiven (Nasaa'ee). The Fast of Ramadhan and Fasting 3 days every month will remove the impurity and whisperings from the heart (Ahmad). Fasting has no equal (Nasaa'ee). Sadaqa & The Holy Lands Lawful wealth spent in a lawful manner washes away sins just as water washes away dirt from a rock covered in dust (Ahmad).
Moosa (ra) had laid a curse upon Samiree so that if anyone touched him then both the parties would contract fever (Mariful Quran), Surah 20 v97. The scholars believe that charity protects even a wrongdoing person (Baihqi) [as Samirree was spared execution since he was very generous and helped those in distress] (Roohul Mannee). 4 things destroy the heart Debating with fools, excessive sinning, excessive mixing with women and to sit with the dead ( a rich man has pride due to his wealth) (Ad Durr Al Manthoor). The ignorant generous is more beloved to Allah SWT than a worshipping miser (Tirmidhi).
Amongst the causes of forgiveness is to feed a hungry Muslim (Haakim). When a person gives a Believer something to eat or drink then Allah SWT will admit him into Paradise through a gate reserved only for people like him (Tabarani). The best of you are those who give food (Ahmad). The man who hated Alee (ra), Hasan ibn Alee (ra) & Surah 6 v124. Whoever donates old clothes will be clothed with silk on The Last Day.. and whoever donates new clothes will wear the finest brocade on the Last Day (Ibn Abee Shaibah). Everyone will enjoy the shade of his Sadaqah until the work of the Judgment is complete (Ahmad). Sadaqa quenches the heat of the grave for those who give (Tabarani). Ibn Umar (ra) uses 2 tents whilst performing the pilgrimage, one within the Haram the other outside the Haram (Qurtobi). Good deeds boast of their excellence and that Sadaqa will say... I was the best of you (Haakim).

In this episode of Transform with Travel, Romi Wallach joins me to talk about her journey from moving her young family from Toronto to Miami to co-founding The Daily Drip, a platform that empowers South Florida businesswomen, and exemplifies how travel and challenging oneself can lead to profound personal growth.Romi's journey shifts when her family decided to move from Toronto to Miami. Unlike the typical migration pattern of retirees heading south, Romi and her husband made the move when their children were just toddlers, searching for new opportunities and adventures. This leap into the unknown was driven by a desire for growth and change. In 2021, amidst navigating personal challenges, Romi co-founded The Daily Drip. The platform, envisioned as a beacon for South Florida's businesswomen, offers content, resources, and community support, aiming to empower women on their journey to reaching their maximum potential. This initiative, rooted in the spirit of community and upliftment, mirrors Romi's own life philosophy.Romi's philanthropic spirit is deeply rooted in her family's legacy. From a young age, involvement in charitable endeavors was a way of life. This ingrained sense of giving back, underpinned by the Jewish principle of Sadaqah, has guided her actions and choices, from spearheading charity events to her passionate involvement with "The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis." Romi's story is one of transformation through travel, challenges, and community engagement. It underscores the idea that growth often comes from stepping out of our comfort zones, embracing new experiences, and contributing to something larger than ourselves. Through her journey, Romi demonstrates that when we face life's currents together, we can navigate towards a future of growth and shared achievements. We talk about:00:00 Intro02:21 Romi's Big Move: From Toronto to Miami05:12 Building a New Life and Community in South Florida08:22 Romi's Philanthropic Journey and the Power of Giving Back10:22 The Inspiring Challenge of Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis20:32 Training, Challenges, and the Mental Game of Endurance Paddling29:54 The Unforgettable Beach Landing Experience31:28 The Emotional Rollercoaster of Post-Challenge Life35:31 The Healing Power of Nature and the Ocean38:31 Family Adventures and the Joy of Shared Experiences43:55 Cultivating a Culture of Philanthropy in the Family44:51 Building a Community Through The Daily Drip50:11 Travel Insights and Final ThoughtsHelp Fundraise for The Crossing for CF:https://www.classy.org/fundraiser/4830153Connect with RomiInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/romiuncensored/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/romi.wallach LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/romi-wallach-56027819/Connect with The Daily DripLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-daily-drip/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thedailydripofficialInstagram:

We are now in the sacred month of Ramadan, where millions of Muslims around the world will be fasting – abstaining from food and drink, from dawn to dusk every day for 30 days. It is a time of heightened spirituality and worship, and so I think today's guest is most fitting for the month ahead of us. On today's episode, I'm speaking to Aliyah Umm Raiyaan about her new book, the Power of Duaa. This book is a beautiful, poignant reminder about turning to God in all times – good and bad, ease and hardship, and improving our relationship with our creator and in turn, harnessing the profound power that dua, making supplication and asking of God, can have. Aliyah Umm Raiyaan reverted to Islam in 1999. Aliyah is the Sunday Times Bestselling author of Penguin published, 'Ramadan Reflections' and The Power of Du'a. She is also the Founder and CEO of Registered Charity Solace UK who support revert women in difficulty. Aliyah is the co-host of YouTube show Honest Tea Talk. Aliyah lives with her family in East London where she home educates her children.I'd love to hear your thoughts on this episode, so please do think about leaving a review, and like, subscribe and rate wherever you listen to this show :)Come connect with me on social media - I'd love to chat:www.instagram.com/readwithsamiawww.instagram.com/thediversebookshelfpod ----Today's episode was brought to you by Muslim Charity, a faith-based international charity, working around the world to tackle poverty, hunger and thirst. On today's show, I'm talking to Suhaiymah Manzoor Khan about her latest book, Seeing For Ourselves: And even stranger possibilities. Suhaiymah is one of the most thoughtful, intelligent and intro-spective people I know, and I absolutely love all the work she is doing and what she puts out into the world. Seeing For Ourselves feels quite different to Suhaiymah's other books, and offers more personal reflections on identity, faith, belonging, grief, love and activism. In her book, Suhaiymah encourages us to move beyond the white western gaze, and focus on the only gaze that really matters: that of Allah. Its such a powerful little book, forcing us to rethink our values, ideas and intentions, and encouraging us to embrace our true authentic selves, away from the gazes upon us. Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan is a writer, poet and educator disrupting understandings of history, race, knowledge and violence. She works to equip herself and others with the tools and faith to resist the unliveable conditions we find ourselves in, and work towards another reality.Suhaiymah's latest book, Seeing for Ourselves: And even stranger possibilities came out with Hajar Press in September 2023. Prior to this she authored Tangled in Terror: Uprooting Islamophobia (Pluto Press, 2022) which was widely endorsed by the likes of Lowkey, Moazzam Begg, Fatima Manji, Lola Olufemi and more.I really hope you enjoy this episode.
