D. Rockefeller, pendiri Standard Oil, menemui tamu di kantornya, ia akan mengantar mereka hingga ke depan lift. Saat para tamu akan naik lift, seorang tak dikenal dengan penampilan lugu ikut masuk ke lift itu. la ikut turun dengan mereka dan menyeberang jalan bersama mereka. Setelah para tamu Rockefeller masuk mobil dan pergi, orang berpenampilan lugu itu kembali masuk ke gedung Rockefeller dan melaporkan dengan detail apa yang dikatakan para tamu selama di lift tadi. Ya, Rockefeller sudah punya "CCTV" dan "penyadap" sebelum teknologi tersebut dibuat. Rockefeller harus mengutus seseorang untuk memata-matai tamunya. Kita kini memakai teknologi untuk melakukannya. Miriam dan Harun mungkin berpikir hanya mereka berdua yang tahu pembicaraan itu, tapi kita bisa lihat bagaimana Tuhan tidak tinggal diam saat hamba-Nya difitnah dan digosipkan sembarangan. Ingatlah hal ini sebelum kita bergosip atau memikirkan hal-hal buruk tentang orang lain. Ingat bahwa Tuhan tahu apa yang kita katakan dan pikirkan. It features broad, thick, glossy, ovate leaves that can rise up to 1 m above the water surface, supported by buoyant bulb-like nodules at the base of its stems (Khotsa et al., 2025). The plant has long, spongy stalks and feathery, purple-black roots, while its flowers are arranged on erect spikes, typically lavender to pink with six petals (UF/IFAS Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants, n.d.). Outside of its flowering period, water hyacinth may be confused with other floating plants, such as frogbit (Limnobium spongia) or Amazon frogbit (Limnobium laevigatum).Water hyacinth is among the fastest-growing plants, reproducing primarily via stolons and producing thousands of seeds annually, which can remain viable for over 28 years (Sullivan & Wood, 2012). Under ideal conditions, mats of water hyacinth can double in size in one to two weeks, and plant counts may increase more than a hundredfold in 23 days (Dickinson & Royer, 2014). In its native range, pollination is primarily by long-tongued bees (Coetzee et al., 2017). The species reproduces both sexually and clonally, with large patches often representing a single genetic form (Harun et al., 2021).Water hyacinth exhibits tristylous flowers with three morphs based on pistil length: long (L), medium (M), and short (S) (Rojas-Sandoval & Acevedo-Rodríguez, 2013). Reflecting on our Tafseer of Surah Al-An'amAlhamdulillah, it's great to be back together after Eid. Eid Mubarak to everyone—I hope your Eid is joyful and filled with blessings. May Allah accept all our deeds from Ramadan and grant us the opportunity to experience an even more meaningful Ramadan next year.Tonight, we continue our tafseer of Surah Al-An'am, picking up from Ayah 90, where we paused before Eid. Our aim now is to complete the remaining eleven pages, covering roughly a page each week. Once we finish this surah, I plan to go back and complete the last four surahs from Juz 'Amma, after which we'll pick a new topic or maybe start studying a classical text together, inshaAllah.As usual, we start our session with a beautiful recitation of Ratib Al-Haddad, reconnecting spiritually and setting a tranquil mood for our discussion.Today, we look at the prophets mentioned in Surah Al-An'am—Ibrahim, Dawud, Sulaiman, Ayyub, Yusuf, Musa, and Harun—and see how Allah uses their stories to comfort Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during his own times of difficulty. Each prophet faces unique challenges: Dawud and Sulaiman experience tests of gratitude (shukr), while prophets like Ayyub, Yusuf, and Musa endure tests of patience (sabr).The story of Prophet Yusuf (AS) especially resonates deeply because it closely parallels the struggles faced by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Both prophets experience rejection from their closest family members yet achieve eventual success through patience and reliance upon Allah.We also discuss the special role of Sayyidina Ali, highlighting how Ali supports Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from the earliest days. It's important to have balanced love: loving Ali deeply doesn't require us to dislike Abu Bakr or Umar. In fact, Ali himself names his children after these companions, reflecting their strong bond of brotherhood and mutual respect.Allah instructs us explicitly in this surah to follow the guidance and examples of these prophets and companions. Their lives serve as practical guides that help us navigate our own challenges.Tonight, we also discuss the unique authenticity and preservation of the Qur'an. Unlike previous scriptures, which undergo alterations and corruption, the Qur'an remains meticulously preserved through memorisation and oral transmission. I often share this remarkable aspect of the Qur'an during interfaith dialogues at the university, surprising many who learn how deeply Muslims engage with their scripture—even memorising it without necessarily understanding its language fully.Finally, we emphasise a crucial point: true belief in the Hereafter (Akhirah) directly leads us to safeguarding our prayers. Prayer is a key indicator of our faith and our belief in the life to come. Now, as Ramadan has ended, let's strive to maintain our dedication to prayers, proving our sincere belief in the Akhirah.May Allah enable us to internalise these reflections, strengthen our connection to the Qur'an, and bless our ongoing journey. (Mazmur 119:48) Renungan: Apakah kita ingat tokoh Alkitab yang bernama Zakaria dan Elisabet? Dalam Injil Lukas 1:5-6 tertulis, "adalah seorang imam yang bernama Zakharia dari rombongan Abia. Isterinya juga berasal dari keturunan Harun, namanya Elisabet. Keduanya adalah benar di hadapan Allah dan hidup menurut segala perintah dan ketetapan Tuhan dengan tidak bercacat." Zakaria dan Elisabet sangat mengasihi Tuhan dengan sungguh-sungguh. Meski saat itu mereka sudah berusia lanjut dan belum dikaruniai keturunan, mereka tetap setia memelihara hidup di jalan Tuhan dengan hidup benar dan menaati hukum Tuhan. Bukan hal yang mudah untuk selalu hidup beriman dengan benar, setia dan tidak bercela. Kencan Dengan Tuhan - Sabtu, 26 Oktober 2024 Bacaan: "...Setelah ia menjadi kuat, ia menjadi tinggi hati sehingga ia melakukan hal yang merusak. Ia berubah setia kepada TUHAN, Allahnya, dan memasuki bait TUHAN untuk membakar ukupan di atas mezbah pembakaran ukupan." (2 Tawarikh 26:16) Renungan: Uzia menjadi raja ketika berumur 16 tahun. Usia yang masih sangat muda. Tetapi, ia berhasil menjalankan tugasnya sebagai pemimpin bangsa Israel sehingga namanya terkenal. Ayat 5 menjelaskan rahasia keberhasilannya, "la mencari Allah selama hidup Zakharia, yang mengajarnya supaya takut akan Allah. Dan selama ia mencari TUHAN, Allah membuat segala usahanya berhasil." Raja Uzia tidak hanya berhasil di dalam mengalahkan bangsa-bangsa lain, tetapi ia juga adalah seorang bapak pembangunan karena ia mendirikan kota-kota, menara-menara dan sumur-sumur. Ia juga seorang bapak peternakan karena banyak ternaknya. Ia juga seorang bapak pertanian karena ia memang suka bertani. Raja Uzia juga seorang ahli strategi perang dan memiliki tentara yang banyak. la juga seorang pencipta alat-alat perang. Pada ayat 15, firman Tuhan mengatakan bahwa Tuhan menolong raja Uzia secara ajaib sehingga ia menjadi kuat dan namanya termasyhur. Tetapi, ayat berikutnya sungguh mengagetkan karena setelah posisinya menjadi kuat, raja Uzia berubah menjadi orang yang sombong. Ternyata raja yang suka mencari dan mengandalkan Tuhan sejak masa kecilnya, setelah berada di puncak kariernya berubah setia kepada Tuhan. Ia menjadi sombong dan merasa layak untuk memasuki bait Tuhan serta membakar ukupan di atas mezbah pembakaran ukupan yang seharusnya hanya boleh dilakukan oleh imam-imam keturunan Harun yang telah dikuduskan oleh Tuhan. Renungan hari ini mengingatkan kita, bahwa sering kali titik puncak menjadi titik balik kehidupan. Ketika seseorang telah mencapai posisi yang tinggi, hidupnya diberkati secara berkelimpahan, semua serba ada, ketika itu juga ia justru akan merosot turun. Tadinya, ketika ia berada dalam keadaan yang pas-pasan atau kekurangan, posisinya masih di bawah. ia begitu rajin mencari Tuhan, rajin melayani, mau mengorbankan apa saja bagi Tuhan, tetapi setelah hidupnya senang dan mapan, ia meninggalkan Tuhan. Ia tidak pernah lagi melayani, bahkan sudah jarang berbakti ke gereja. Tadinya ia berkata, "Lebih baik satu hari di pelataran-Mu dari pada seribu hari di tempat lain," sekarang ia berkata, "Lebih baik berada di toko daripada di gereja, hari Minggu toko paling ramai." Tadinya ia berkata, "Berbahagialah orang yang tidak berdiri di jalan orang berdosa," tetapi sekarang ia berkata, "Enak juga di sini, di bawah gemerlap lampu-lampu disco, musik hingar bingar dan berada di tengah-tengah pecandu dan pengedar narkoba." Mpox causes a headache, fever and a blistering rash all over the body. There have been more than 1,200 cases in parts of Central and West Africa since the start of this year. The milder version is now circulating in other parts of the world but the much stronger, possibly deadlier strain, called Clade 1b is also on the rise. A few weeks ago, the World Health Organisation announced that mpox constituted a public health emergency of international concern after an upsurge of cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and other countries in Africa. Host Luke Jones brings together survivors from the UK and Nigeria to share their experiences. “I thought that I was dying,” said Harun in London. “Nobody knew what it was and I was getting worse every day. I remember looking at a bottle of water and I started crying because I wasn't able to drink.” We also hear from three doctors about some of the challenges they face - from a mistrust in medical professionals, to a belief that mpox is not caused by a virus and so doesn't require hospital treatment. “An elderly man started developing symptoms but felt his symptoms were not due to any pathogen but due to a spiritual attack,” said Dr Dimie Ogoina, from the Niger Delta Teaching hospital. When we first reported on the earthquake in February 2023, the scale was overwhelming. We heard from families who had escaped as buildings around them collapsed and rescue workers described the devastation as the worst they had ever seen. Each day the casualty figures mounted. It is now thought that at least 55,000 people died.A year on, we have been catching-up with survivors to hear how their lives have changed. One family – Iman, Karim and their 7-year-old daughter Nada – had fled from the war in Syria to have a new life in Turkey. They lost family, friends and their home in the earthquake. When host James Reynolds called the family up in the last few days, they told him they were doing much better. Young Nada, however, is still having nightmares about the floor shaking and people she has lost. “I have a dream about my friend Iman, she died from the earthquake,” Nada tells James. “I'm so sad about her, and I have a friend who moved to Canada – I miss her so much.”We also hear messages from BBC listeners in Turkey and reunite with Harun, an English teacher in southern Turkey, and Bilal who is living in the east of the country and had his business destroyed last year. Benim dünyadaki hâlim, bir ağacın altında gölgelenip azıcık dinlendikten sonra yoluna devam eden bir yolcunun hâline benzer.” (Tirmizî, Zühd 44) Hepimiz biliyoruz ki, O (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) isteseydi, Ashab-ı Kiram evinde barkında ne varsa getirir ve O'nun altına sererlerdi. Fakat İnsanlığın İftihar Tablosu, kendisini, muvakkaten bir ağacın altında ârâm eden ve sonra da çekip giden bir yolcuya benzetip dünyayla olan münasebetinin bundan ibaret olduğunu ifade ediyor; ruhunun ufkuna yürüyeceği âna kadar da hep bu ölçüye göre yaşıyor ve ümmetine de istiğna ruhunu talim buyuruyordu. (22:55) *İnsanlığa hizmete kendini adamış olanlar, peygamber yolunda yürüdükleri zaman kalıcı eserler bırakırlar. Yoksa Harun olarak yola çıkıp sonra Kârunlaşan kimseler, bir gün hazineleriyle beraber yerin dibine batarlar da lanet ile yâd edilirler. Hiç olmazsa imana ve Kur'an'a hizmete kendini adamış bu daire-yi mübareke içinde bulunan insanlar, yaptıkları hizmetler içinde, konumları itibarıyla “Ben şunu kendi hesabıma bir avantaj olarak değerlendirebilirim. Hatırımı kullanarak ‘şöyle bir mukavelede/ihalede bana da şu kadar şey düşünün' diyebilirim” mülahazalarından uzak olmalıdırlar. Eğer dilimde tel'in etmeye, “Yerin dibine batsın!” demeye azıcık açıklık bulunsaydı, dilimin bir parçasında bedduaya yer olsaydı, ‘millete hizmet ediyoruz' dedikleri halde o iş içinde kendi çıkarlarını düşünenler, meseleleri çıkar çarkına bağlayanlar, ihalelerde kendilerine pay ayıranlar ve kendilerine pay verenleri mabeyn-i hümayun insanı haline getirenler hakkında “Allah sizi çoluk çocuğunuzla, beklentilerinizle, ümitlerinizle yerin dibine batırsın, mahvetsin!” derdim. Ama demedim; çünkü dilimde öyle bir şeye yer yok. İkbal'in dediği gibi, “Dua dua yalvardım; tel'ine, bedduaya ‘amin' demedim!” (23:47) *Yol, İnsanlığın İftihar Tablosu'nun, Hazreti Ebu Bekir'in, Hazreti Ömer'in yoludur. Onların yol ve yöntemlerinin dışında yürümeye “yolsuzluk” denir. İnsan farkına varmadan elli türlü yolsuzluğa kaymış olur.. ve yolsuzluk, bir yerde insanı güldürse bile, bir gün öyle bir ağlatır ki, orada “Ah keşke ölüp gitseydim, toprak olsaydım da bunları duymasaydım!” dedirtir insana.
