Muazh Ibn Jabal رضي الله عنه (S51) Umar رضي الله عنه asked some men around him: “What are your wishes?”. One man replied: “That this room be full of silver and I spend it in the path of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى”. Umar رضي الله عنه wasn't impressed. Another said: “that it be filled with gold” and another: “that it be filled with rubies and I spend it in the Path of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى”. Umar رضي الله عنه still wasn't impressed. The men wondered what the right answer was. Umar رضي الله عنه said: “I wish this room was full of men like Abu Ubaydah, Muazh Ibn Jabal and Hudayfah Ibn al-Yaman [رضي الله عنهم], so I could employ them to serve the Deen”. Wealth is the standard for the people of the world, the standard for the God-fearing is Taqwa. Umar رضي الله عنه heard of the plague outbreak in Shaam. He رضي الله عنه said: “If I am martyred by the plague, my successor is Abu Ubaydah رضي الله عنه. If Abu Ubaydah رضي الله عنه passes before me, then my successor is Muazh Ibn Jabal رضي الله عنه”. Such was the love and trust that Umar had for these 2 noble souls
(S33) Whilst we fight battles with shaytaan between good deeds and sins, Muazh رضي الله عنه was battling between the better of 2 good deeds - such was the level of his Taqwa. Muazh رضي الله عنه participated in all of the expeditions during The Messenger's ﷺ lifetime. He was ~20 years old at Badr. The Messenger ﷺ instructed Muazh رضي الله عنه to stay in Makkah during the battle of Hunayn, to teach the new reverts about Islam, using the Qur'an. Teaching the faith to your brothers and sisters is also like Jihad - a unique honour for Muazh رضي الله عنه.
Muazh Ibn Jabal رضي الله عنه (S30) Muazh رضي الله عنه was once walking with a man when he suddenly picked up a stone and moved it out the way. The man enquired. Muazh رضي الله عنه said that he heard The Messenger ﷺ say: “Whoever removes a stone/rock from the pathway, he will be granted a Hasanah. Whoever has one Hasanah, will enter Paradise”. Muazh رضي الله عنه took every opportunity to do a good deed - not belittling any of them. Had not come true the dua that The Messenger ﷺ taught Muazh? رضي الله عنه An immense worshipper, who came to conquer, not complete. A glimpse into his Taqwa: Muazh رضي الله عنه said: “Whoever wilfully knows who is stood to his right or left whilst praying, has not truly prayed”.

Alhamdulillah, tonight is the 12th night of Ramadan, and we continue our study of Surah al-An'am. Before we dive in, yesterday marked an important date—the passing of Sayyidah Khadijah رضي الله عنها, the beloved wife and strongest supporter of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. She passed away around the 11th of Ramadan in the tenth year of prophethood, a few weeks before the passing of Abu Talib, marking a year known as ‘Aam al-Huzn (the Year of Sadness).BeQuranic is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Yesterday, we stopped at verse 38, where Allah addresses the Quraysh's demands for miracles. Allah reminds them—and us—that miracles are all around us: birds flying, animals walking, and the very earth we walk upon. These everyday occurrences should remind us constantly of Allah's greatness and power, embedding Taqwa into our daily lives.Allah then describes those who deny His signs as “deaf, mute, and trapped in darkness.” This isn't literal deafness or blindness—it describes hearts and minds closed off to guidance. Allah can guide or misguide, but His misguidance only comes after people repeatedly choose to reject His signs. Remember, we are blessed with Islam purely through Allah's mercy, not by our own superiority. There should be no arrogance or judgment toward others, especially those in need.Every act of charity is an opportunity—like investing in a divine portfolio with guaranteed returns, infinitely better than worldly gains. Imagine, Allah promises a minimum return of tenfold, and during Ramadan, it can be up to seven hundred times or more! So rather than feeling superior, we should actually be thankful to those we help—they're providing us with opportunities for our Akhirah. We also reflected on the nature of As-Sirat Al-Mustaqim (the Straight Path). Interestingly, linguistically the word “Sirat” implies a wide path, spacious enough to accommodate many who seek Allah sincerely. Within Islam, multiple paths lead to the pleasure of Allah—some people excel in prayer, others in fasting, charity, Qur'an recitation, or even simple acts done sincerely at home. For example, a busy mother's daily struggles taking care of her family in Ramadan can be just as rewarding—or more so—than someone who spends all their time in worship at the mosque, purely based on sincerity. There is no single route to Jannah. The Straight Path is broad and accommodating, with numerous paths within it suited to our individual strengths and inclinations.

Assalamu alaykum all! With the blessed month of Ramadan on our footsteps, I wanted to take this time to really talk about the virtues of fasting, and especially its connection to Taqwa- and how it helps us attain God-consciousness. We explore this concept, along with having good assumptions of Allah, the beauty of trials, and ended off talking about the Qu'ran. We hope you benefit from this episode as much as we did!Referenced Tafseer website as resource: http://m.qtafsir.com
