Welcome back to LMLD! We are so sad to be recording the final episode of season two before our summer hiatus, but happy about everything the podcast has given us over the last two years. We begin by sharing our "lights" of the week, including a very special weekend spent in Columbia, Missouri celebrating Max's graduation. We are so proud and excited for what's to come! The bulk of the episode was spent talking about what this year of podcasting has meant to us, how it feels different than last year, and some of our favorite moments. We also discuss some of the goals and ideas we have for the future and wrap up with what we're into for the week. Overall, this year has been a ton of fun and we really have enjoyed sharing our lives, thoughts, and memories with all of you. We look forward to seeing what's in store for LMLD in the future! We'll see you in September (or possibly earlier for a fun bonus episode). --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Welcome back to LMLD! We begin our episode by sharing our "lights" of the week, including the fun Mother's Day weekend we shared together. Our topic this week is short and sweet and centered around one of those fun quizzes, where Lauryn's knowledge on Jamee is put to this test. Jamee asks her a variety of "this or that" questions about a variety of her preferences, such as beach or pool and tea or coffee. No surprises that Lauryn aced this quiz! Then, we dive into our topic of the week which is inspired by a thread Lauryn's saw on Facebook. We each take turns sharing the people who would be on our nightmare as well as dream blunt rotation/campfire gathering/party list. We discuss both fictional characters and celebrities that we would or wouldn't want to see there. Of course, Lauryn and Jamee had so many in common that they ultimately combined their lists together into one super party! This was such a funny episode and we had so much fun sharing our lists. Then, we went into our topic which is inspired all by the Bon Jovi concert we will have attended by the time that this episode releases. We talk about how Jamee first got into the band and how that love was eventually passed down to Lauryn and Max when they were little, and is essentially the root of their music appreciation. We share our favorite lyrics and memories associated with JBJ, in addition to generally what music has meant to us. Welcome back to LMLD! We are so excited to be back after a week hiatus. We began by sharing our "lights" of the week, which was a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Then, we jumped into this week's topic inspired by Lauryn's highlight of going to visit her brother Max at college this past weekend. We discussed how she felt returning back to college for the first time, comparisons she noticed to her own experiences, and what unresolved feelings that brought out for her. We discussed what social norms are present during this time that aren't in other periods of life, and what is different about college now than it was for Jamee. All in all, though it was this weekend was emotional at times, Lauryn is actually in a really good place and this conversation only made us realize that. Welcome back to LMLD! This week we begin by sharing our “lights” of the week, which includes a very unfortunate update on our health. Luckily, we are on the mend and are #ThankfulForScience. We then dove into our topic of the week, which was a reverse of the fun quiz that Lauryn gave Jamee last week. This time, Jamee tested Lauryn on all of the fun terms and trends of the late 80s and early 90s to see how educated she was on the past decades. Spoiler alert: she did better than Jamee...but only slightly. Overall, they are pretty much in sync--Lauryn knows her stuff about the past and Jamee is a cool and trendy mom! Welcome back to LMLD! We are so excited about this episode. We begin by sharing our "lights" of the week, including an extremely tumultuous experience for both Lauryn and Jamee. After, we go into the topic of the week which was all inspired by a conversation that Lauryn and Jamee had as she tried to describe to her what the term "wook" meant, sparking a related discussion over what kinds of slang, trends, and things she knew. We then decided to turn this into a quiz where Lauryn compiled a list of all the things that the ~cool kids~ have been saying, doing, or following over the last year to see whether or not Jamee is up to date on all the trends. The results showed that she was about halfway with it, which Lauryn deemed was pretty good, though Jamee wants a rematch. Lauryn agreed that next time she would let Jamee quiz her on all things from her generation, which is a big deal for her because she always claims she doesn't like to fail. Happy new year and welcome back to LMLD! We began our episode by sharing our "lights" of the week. Then, we divided into our topic of the week which is all about how we approach goal-setting for the new year. Rather than going on a complete crazy resolutions rampage or screwing that mindset and refusing to engage, we feel as though we fall right in the middle. With that being said, we decided to come up with areas of self-acceptance as well as self-growth that we would like to work on and maintain in the new year. This episode we specifically focus on our self-acceptance and self-growth of our mind and body as we share what we hope this year will bring for us in both of these areas. Welcome back to another episode of the Like Mother, Like Daughter podcast! This episode really served as a therapy session for Lauryn as we shared our deepest fears and anxieties about the near future. We began by sharing our "lights" of the week, which included some of the high-strung emotions that Lauryn and Jamee (as the mother) are feeling and how we have served as a support system to one another. With graduation on the horizon, Lauryn shared the intense emotions she has been feeling recently about all the changes that are coming up. We discussed the weird transition of no longer being a student into the working world, and how to navigate figuring out what you really want to do in the future. We also talked about how social media and comparison play a heavy role in making this transition even more confusing and anxiety-inducing. Welcome back to Like Mother, Like Daughter! We began our episode by sharing our "lights" of the week. Then, we moved into the topic which was based upon the simultaneous content that we consumed this past week. On a recent episode of the "I Love You So Much" podcast with Kenzie Elizabeth, she shared her struggles as a content creator with the need to brand herself and find her niché, and how fitting in a box can be challenging sometimes. At the same time, Jamee was listening to Brene Brown's "The Gifts of Imperfection." Brene Brown shared the difference between Fitting in and Belonging. “Fitting in is about assessing a situation and becoming who you need to be to be accepted. Belonging, on the other hand, doesn't require us to change who we are; it requires us to be who we are.” These conversations really inspired us to dig deep within ourselves and confront our biggest insecurities. We also shared our desire to simply belong and surround ourselves with people that we can be our most authentic self with. Welcome back to the Like Mother, Like Daughter podcast! We spent a great Thanksgiving break at home together, and we dive all into the ups and downs of the past week by starting off the episode with our lights. Then, we dived into this week's episode which was all about painful goodbyes and Sunday Scaries, which was top of mind after this past weekend with Lauryn heading back to school and Jamee starting up work again. Although it has gotten easier over the past 3.5 years, Jamee still has a hard time saying goodbye to Max and Lauryn at the end of each holiday break. In this episode we share this mother/daughter's perspective on what our goodbye's are like and ways that we cope with them. We also talk about how to just face our anxieties about the work we have head on and know that we will be able to accomplish it. This episode was very therapeutic for us and are glad we got to share. Welcome to another episode of LMLD! While we have SO much to say about the recent release of Red (Taylor's Version), we are delaying the episode by a week in order to give you guys and ourselves the best experience. In the meantime, we decided to return back to one of our favorite conversations on the podcast...diet culture! We began the episode by sharing our "lights" of the week and then a brief update about where we each are individually doing in terms of our progress in the "health and wellness" space. We share our frustrations with how we relate to others in the space, what diet culture brings out in people, and of course what it brings out in us. We come to somewhat a consensus, though we both hesitate in terms of where we really stand. We feel proud of our progress, however, we know there is still a long road ahead of us and we will probably be grappling with these issues forever. We also make a promise to try to create our own meaning of health and doing our best to stop comparing our bodies, thoughts, and experiences to others. Everyday is Bones Day at Like Mother, Like Daughter! Don't know what the heck that means? Stay tuned and keep listening. We began the episode by sharing our "lights" of the week. Lauryn then went on to explain her inspiration for this episode, which sparked when she first learned of the "Bones Day" trend taking over TikTok where @jongraz and his dog Noodle dictate how we approach each day. This made her question why we choose to believe in things, like astrology, movie or TV characters, or even religion that don't really have any ground to stand on. Besides discussing how crazy it is that these trends exist and blow up so quickly, we shared our own personal favorite things we love to dive into and what benefits they provide us. And of course, we finished this episode by discussing what we're into for the week ("The Clover Girls" by Viola Shipman, reality show "Dancing with the Stars," and "Maid" on Netflix. This week's episode was heavily influenced by a lot of events going on recently (whether we knew it at the time of recording or not), and we are so excited about it! We began by sharing our "lights" of the week and then dived into the topic all about social media and its effects on body image and mental health as a whole. Lauryn shared her experience listening to the most recent episode of "Call Her Daddy" and Alex's insights into the world of photoshop/FaceTune and how deceitful these apps can be to our perception of ourselves and others. We discussed our own personal experiences with the way that social media has affected us and our own journey with grappling with how it helps our self-esteem. We also discussed the unfortunate truth in how much it has ruined not just our digital but our daily experiences, especially for Lauryn and her generation, because of how much social media takes precedence for enjoying the present moment. Most of our summer was spent at "the best place under the sun" aka camp, but we also shared some of our favorite family-time moments. We wrapped up this episode by sharing what we're into for the week, which ironically happened to be the same! Both of us have discovered our love for Harry Styles/One Direction this year and we had to give a shoutout to our favorite man! We also shared some of our goals for this year on the podcast. Most of all we just can't wait to be back and have so many exciting things planned! Have a great week. and don't forget to TPWK (treat people with kindness) :) Follow us on Instagram @likemotherlikedaughterpod and like us on Facebook! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

We then talk about all our favorite episodes of this past season, including our favorite guests, episode titles, and moments together. Welcome back to our second to last episode of the first season of the "Like Mother, Like Daughter" podcast! Jamee and Lauryn begin the episode by sharing their "lights" of the week, including how happy we are to be socializing and seeing others again. We then dive into this week's topic, which is all about what it means to have a healthy/mother daughter relationship based upon an article that we saw online. We talk about the qualities that make up a healthy mother/daughter relationship and if we feel that we fit those qualities, as well as share how we think others perceive us and would assess our relationship. We also share our own past experiences and how we have been able to be supportive for one another. We think we have a pretty great relationship, but we will let you guys be the judge of that! We finish off the episode by sharing what we're into for the week, which includes an important reminder about positive affirmations through the "I Am" app and our hopeful AOTY for the 2022 Grammys, Olivia Rodrigo's SOUR! This week we had a lot of fun talking about virtually nothing! We spent the beginning of the episode covering our "lights" of the week, which included Lauryn sharing all about her trip to visit our family in Austin, Texas! We then shared a little bit about our future plans for LMLD. We are planning on taking a short hiatus during the busy camp time of the summer, however we have two amazing episodes planned (lol actually no we clearly don't plan anything based on this episode) for you guys so stay tuned! We then talked about our dream places to travel both in and out of the U.S., and what we're into for the week. Be sure to go to a Crumbl Cookies near you! This week's episode was completely mother's day themed in honor of Mother's Day this past weekend! We shared our "lights" of the week, which obviously included a Mother's Day recap, and we had so much fun spending the ENTIRE day together (no not kidding we literally didn't leave each other sides every day). After this, we shared a variety of stories of Mother's Day weekends throughout the years, including a house fire, a dance competition, and so much more! We had a lot of fun reminiscing on ways that we've made the day special in the past and we hope you guys did too! After this, we shared what we're into for the week, and a goal that Lauryn has to relive her past... Follow us on Instagram @likemotherlikedaughterpod and like us on Facebook!
Recording this week was an absolute blast. This was our last distanced pod. We are so excited that we have only a few more days apart before your fav mother and daughter duo is back together for the summer of 2021. After a review of the week with a relatively short “lights” section we jumped into this week’s topic. We had a great time sharing what we could not live without if we were stranded on a deserted island. It’s pretty cool just how in sync we are. It all comes back to what and who matters most in life. We challenge you to let us know what you’d bring with you. We finish up with what we have been into for the week. Jamee loves her new Apple Watch band bought on Amazon. Lauryn shared a book recommendation called The Intimacy Experiment that has some great Jewish representation that we love to see!! Hope you enjoy episode 35!! This episode was one for the books. Half the podcast focused on our reflections of our “lights” of the week. The other half we discussed our limited knowledge of high end brands names. We are so not concerned with the finer things and would rather find things we love or dupes for them if it means getting a good value. It seems once again the apple does not fall far from the tree. The first bulk of our episode was sharing our lights of the week, as well as some wisdom on how to change our mindsets when we are struggling. This week we talked all about the crazy world of extracurriculars and how that has changed across different generations. We talked about what kinds of things we were involved in as kids and how we spent our free time. What we discovered is just how much times have changed in terms of involvement in organized activities, and the kinds of effects that these long-term commitments have had on our lives. We of course finished off the episode about what we're into, and our goal to get more immersed with our mother nature. Follow us on Instagram @likemotherlikedaughterpod and like us on Facebook!
It’s all Taylor all the time for this mother and daughter. We are so excited that the one and only Taylor Swift released her re-recorded version of her second album Fearless (Taylor’s Version). We break it all down for you this week. Sharing some of our favorite songs and why everyone must join this standom. We also review what we’ve been up to through our weekly “lights” of the week. As for what we are into Jamee’s thing of the week is the Podcast "Good For a Weekend" and Lauryn has been using the voice memo feature on her iPhone for texting. This is a great idea when you have a longer story to share with someone. Hope you enjoy this Fearless episode! Follow us on Instagram @likemotherlikedaughterpod and like us on Facebook!
We were so excited to record another episode side by side in the same room. Since Lauryn was home many of our lights of the week were similar. Our focus of this episode was how we are adapting now that we are both vaccinated. Are we comfortable doing “normal” things again? How are we navigating our social life post vaccination. We then share what we are “into” this week. Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter Trader Joe's Scandinavian Swimmers Follow us on Instagram @likemotherlikedaughterpod and like us on Facebook!
This week we are so happy to be both recording and person and with a special guest! First, we share our recap of our trip to Mizzou to visit Max as well as sharing our "lights" of the week. We were so excited to bring Hannah Kahn on this week's episode of LMLD! Hannah is a fellow camp girl, Swiftie, foodie, and siSDTer, so of course we had a ton to talk about with her. We dive in to how we first got connected with her, what her relationship with each of us is, and all of the kinds of things we all have in common aka the Venn Diagram of the three of us. We finish off the conversation with a little talk about astrology and then talk about what we're into for the week. We had so much fun talking to Hannah on the podcast and we hope you enjoyed it too! This week we have a marvelous time trying to convince the remaining hold outs to join the most premium app. We love TikTok and are not ashamed to say why. We share some of our favorite people to follow. We also go on and on about just why the experience of the for you page can not be beat. Its the perfect app to find out about what are the must haves to buy on amazon, how to become more body positive, or of course the rankings of your favorite Taylor songs. We are also happy to share our “lights” of the week. As for what we are into Jamee shared how she is back into working on puzzles and Lauryn loved watching Firefly Lane on Netflix. As always, thanks for your support and for listening. Follow us on Instagram @likemotherlikedaughterpod and like us on Facebook!
It’s our Grammy episode and we are freaking out! Lauryn and Jamee share their favorite artists, albums, and songs as we get excited for the 63rd Grammy Awards. Go back in time with Jamee to 1983, the year Michael Jackson won the record for most Grammy awards in one night. Lauryn shares why 2009 was such a big year in her mind and all of the amazing music since. It's the perfect way to get ready for Taylor and Beyoncé’s big night. We also share our what we're into for the week. A few of which are linked below. Taylor Swift Album Spotify Series Pimple Cream Follow us on Instagram @likemotherlikedaughterpod and like us on Facebook!
The LMLD team had a bit of a therapy sesh this week. After sharing our lights of the week we go deep into our brains and how we tend operate. As we have mentioned in the past Lauryn is the ultimate planner and organized one of the bunch while Jamee tends to be much more free wheeling. We have been analyzing this for the past year or so and we are at it yet again. This was sparked but the hours leading up to the recording of this episode. Thanks for bearing with us as we identify our issues and they to find ways to become our best selves. Of course we conclude the episode by sharing what we are into for the week. Lauryn was excited to talk about the show All-American. Jamee is hoping everyone joins her and watches Will Smith’s Netflix Docuseries called Amend, the fight for America. Lauryn heads home for the weekend we’re so excited to be recording side by side. So you can imagine that we had many similar things to say when it was time for our “lights” of the week and had a lot to recap with our time together. This week we welcome a very special guest to the podcast aka the Patriarch of our family, Papa or “The Father.” We talked with Larry about how it feels to be a #girldad, advice about career and marriage, and what he loves about being a grandfather. He is always their to offer some advice and shares his famous words, "aim high." We end Larry’s time with some great rapid fire questions. We hope you enjoy getting a glimpse of the man we call Lar! We finish with what we are into for the week including Lauryn’s life saver hand cream, O’keefe’s. Follow us on Instagram @likemotherlikedaughterpod and like us on Facebook!
Being proud of yourself and celebrating personal accomplishments can be hard to do but we see the importance. This week we do this very thing as the LMLD crew takes it back to celebrate some of their brightest moments and the experiences in our lives that have shaped us into who we are today. Then we share what we are most into including Lady Efron on TikTok, county music, and new leggings Jamee found at target. This week in keeping with the warm and loving spirit of Valentine's Day our focus is on each other. We dive into the qualities we love and admire most about one another. Both Lauryn and Jamee were surprised by a couple of the compliments that were shared but most were pretty expected. All in all it was an absolute feel good episode. As always we ended by sharing what we are into for the week including, wait for it, Taylor Swift's new release of the song Love Story (Taylor's Version) and all things Fearless. Nothing like getting into an album initially released back in 2008! Yes, that's right 2008! Lauryn was a mere 8-year-old. Long before the days of college and COVID-19. Thanks for listening. We hope you enjoy it! Don't forget to stream Love Story (Taylor's Version) so you can support our girl!!!! Follow us on Instagram @likemotherlikedaughterpod and like us on Facebook!
