I hope you really enjoy one of my favorite artist of all time! A series of tumultuous romances followed for Winehouse, none more fevered than her on-again, off-again relationship with Blake Fielder-Civil, about whom many of the heartbreak songs on her next album, Back to Black, were written. Her singing on that album, more in the vein of Motown and 1960s and '70s soul, delighted critics. A very different-looking Winehouse had begun appearing in the tabloids as the new album took off in Britain and broke through in the United States, entering the American charts at number seven, the highest debut position ever for a British woman. Stick-thin and tattooed, Winehouse began piling her jet-black hair in an enormous beehive that, along with heavy Cleopatra-style eye makeup, became her trademark look. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/daydreamthedj/message

Max Boogie I was born & raised on the East Side of Buffalo NY. Writing and creating music started from me looking for an outlet where I could open up and express myself in ways that I never used to do. That was the beginning phase. When I actually started pursuing music, I learned that I had a passion for it. I wanted to create music about my life and experiences in order to touch/reach people who may be going through the same type of real life situations. It was the only thing I could see myself doing to change my life as well as others around me. I've been actively pursuing music since about 2018. I think what sets me apart from a lot of other artist Is my authenticity. I'm humble, I'm genuine, and I don't have ill intentions for ANYONE that doesn't have it for me. Which is something you might not come across everyday in today's world. I also believe I have my own style and sound when it comes to my craft. I think honestly over the past 4 Years a lot of the hard work I've been putting in is finally starting to pay off now. So I would say I'm on the verge of some new accomplishments & achievements in the near future. Some accomplishments I can say now is obviously being the 2nd place winner at The Natural Hustle Entertainment's 2nd annual Performing with a Purpose Juneteenth Celebration. I also made the radio last month for “716 Homegrown Heat Show” with my single “King Or Pawn”. I've performed at numerous venues including Stamps The Bar, Varsity Theatre, Buffalo Grill & Ale House, Buffalo Iron Works, The Groove Lounge, as well as The Union Tavern In Boston/Somerville, Massachusetts. Some goals for the future is that I'm looking to establish a merch line for my brand. That's really huge for me as of right now. I also want to start getting some even bigger performance opportunities like opening for big names, performing at bigger and better venues, traveling & getting up there in front of larger crowds, maybe eventually reaching a point where I can have my own shows & tours. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daydreamthedj/message

The day after the terrorist attack in Buffalo, NY where 10 people died and 3 other people were injured I had the pleasure of interviewing Nina B. When I say her music helped me heal, I am not playing with you. I know that you all will understand when you...JUST LISTEN! In her childhood years, Nina has always been a performer, actress, and overall entertainer. From chorus events, musicals such as Annie, Shrek, a Danai Gunra Classic Play Eclipse in which she learned the African language within two weeks and is sure to excite a crowd. From performing at church, school or the city parks to endless nights home singing she always had a passion for music. She has featured in many of her father's songs ‘Mr. Brown', ‘Wintertime Grind', ‘Warrior', NOW AVAILABLE on all platforms beginning at the age of 2 and proceeded to further her music career for the love of music and expression as she grew into her adulthood. Her songwriting began as poetry and later progressed to lyrical content. From there her undeniable talent has been on a rise since her voice was present during a very important movement; Nina posted live singing a song she had written during the BLM movement which began to grasp the attention of over 17,000 people on Facebook and went viral. Nina then released a video for ‘Vintage' which had powerful messages lyrically, visually, and made an impact on the world! Since ‘Vintage' she has released ‘Vintage Part Two' which covered the stories of the BLM movement. ‘Vintage Part Two' is an extension of ‘Vintage' Produced By Pacific and S. Billz for Death Valley Entertainment with the same melody but more to say. Nina felt the longevity ‘Vintage' and ‘Vintage Part Two' could have and felt it was important to release. With not only bringing a neo-soul/ Nina B Buffalo Gal vibe into the music industry as an upcoming artist but the opportunity to touch souls and be heard with bringing change is what matters most. Aside from being quiet like Janet Jackson, Respectful like Alicia Keys, and Graceful as Whitney Houston her loud and expressive words give you a peace of mind and understanding of neighborhood girl next door, heartbreak, and also from a political aspect. Nina also released a single ‘Never Forget' and ‘Roses' from her album ‘Just Listen' AVAILABLE NOW on all platforms which elaborates on turning heartache into memories; A love that is lost but will never be forgotten. I'm sure we all can relate so why not hear a story we all can feel through music! In addition to the music Nina has starred in the Movie series ‘Daddy's Girls Club' which is available now on Amazon Prime. She has also starred in the ‘The Movie short 300' written by Terrance Brown which is a movie series soon to be available. Her single Vintage has been played on 93.7 WBLK infinity broadcasting station. Nina wants to be remembered as an entertainer and for her music to be remembered as timeless music as well as music that moves souls. Nina is an up and coming artist for her generation and wants to continue to express and inspire for future generations. She is grateful for this gift and in her words she wants to “Thank God as she believes she was born for this”. Nina has enjoyed her journey with music thus far as well as worked with many great local artists, videographers, and producers and will continue to be on the rise as time follows. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daydreamthedj/message

I once was a poet! I presented poetry at night clubs and had a tv show. The night clubs had a Love Jones movie feel (that's a movie look it up). The bands were small three to four pieces that played live music behind the poets. I even have a poetry book and a CD that I sold during those moments in time. This episode explores those moments. I am playing some of that Poetry CD from wayyyyyyy back when I was on that Journey to Daydream! Enjoy --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daydreamthedj/message

Have you ever heard the same song performed by two different singers and one just completely makes that original their song? Donny Hathaway was that singer that got a hold of your record and when he performed it, it was his song and you couldn't get it back. This episode explores the life of Donny Hathaway and the Marvin Gaye hit (protest) song What's going on. If you haven't heard Donny sing it then you are in for a treat. If you have then relax as normal and enjoy it like it was the first time. I also discuss my grandfather Elijah, me driving at a young age and 8 track tapes with Al green and sitting by the Dock of the Bay. Enjoy! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daydreamthedj/message
