The Bottom Dwellers Dive Shack podcast is an incredibly informative and engaging podcast that offers a wealth of knowledge and insights into the world of commercial diving. From the captivating interviews with experienced divers to the in-depth discussions about the industry, this podcast truly stands out as a valuable resource for both seasoned professionals and those interested in pursuing a career in diving.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is its ability to provide practical advice and useful information for divers at all stages of their careers. Whether you are a "baby diver" just starting out or someone who has transitioned from the field to an office role, there is something for everyone in each episode. The hosts do a fantastic job of sharing personal experiences, discussing important topics, and offering tips and guidance that can truly benefit listeners.

Furthermore, The Bottom Dwellers Dive Shack podcast excels at addressing important issues within the diving industry. It doesn't shy away from discussing the hard truths and challenges that divers face on a daily basis. This level of honesty and transparency creates a space where listeners can gain valuable insights into the realities of working as a commercial diver.

On a February day in 1969, off the shore of northern California, a US Navy crane carefully lowered 300 tons of metal into the Pacific Ocean. The massive tubular structure was an audacious feat of engineering — a pressurized underwater habitat, complete with science labs and living quarters for an elite group of divers who hoped to spend days or even months at a stretch living and working on the ocean floor. The Sealab project, as it was known, was the brainchild of a country doctor turned naval pioneer who dreamed of pushing the limits of ocean exploration the same way NASA was pushing the limits of space exploration. As Americans were becoming entranced with the effort to land a man on the moon, these divers, including one of NASA's most famous astronauts, were breaking depth barrier records underwater. Sealab tells the little-known story of the daring program that tested the limits of human endurance and revolutionized the way humans explore the ocean. We have Ken Kuhlman on the show to talk about what happens if diving is not working out. Some may not be able to find work right away, dive work may have dried up, you find out that commercial diving is not what it's all cracked up to be, or your body may not be cut out anymore for the rigors of diving and heavy construction; what do you do? We go over a couple pathways that you can take, that will still provide income for your family and fill some of that need for adventure. Ken shares his personal experiences as an NDT tech and rope access technician. A lot of his time was spent working at Disney, diving and on rope access. Great episode with the Bottom Dwellers crew talking about our latest adventures and our work diving on the Queen Mary. We talk about a phone call we received from one of our listeners asking about diving with a stopped up ear. A conversation about safety and the foolish use of climbing harnesses as a diving harness. We also touch on our new show the Bottom Dwellers Bierclub and encourage our listeners to like and follow. A good episode with pertinent information for the diver out in the field! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thebottomdwellersds/message
