Hello Leaders! Today I thought I'd cover a pretty hot topic – leaders in transition. A while back, we posted an article on how to manage a transition to a new leadership role after I realized that a many of the leaders we've worked with over the past few years were going through a transition to a pretty significant new role. That article received more than double the interest of our other blog posts, which confirmed what I had expected: this is a big challenge many of you are facing, and you will likely go through it more than once in your career! I know how hard it is and I've been in the trenches with quite a few leaders who have handled this well. So you will survive. I promise. As a matter of fact, I'm really excited to let you in on a little secret—we are officially building a program just for you—leaders who are transitioning into a new role—and it will take all the guessing out of the situation and give you the confidence that you are, in fact, doing it right! You can pre-register for the program at a discounted rate if you go to energizeleadership.com/leadersuccesskit But in the meantime, I'll share some helpful insights that you can use right now.
I asked Debbie to join us on the Everyday Leader Podcast because I think administrative support is mostly underutilized or not correctly leveraged by the leaders of today, and it is a great opportunity for all of us to think a little bit differently about how we could benefit from an administrative partnership that really works. I'm so excited for you to hear Debbie's perspective – so without further ado – let's meet Debbie Gross!
More Than Just a Headshot: How Leaders Can Manage Their Own Personal Brand Through Visual Imagery with Stephanie Simpson Stephanie Simpson is a business and personal branding photographer with her own firm called Simpson Portraits and she loves to help leaders like you show the world why you stand apart from the crowd. I asked Stephanie to join us on the Everyday Leader Podcast because she is not just any photographer and she takes more than just headshots. When I met her, I was like most of you – looking for a headshot and a couple images that I could use on my bio and different collateral pieces. I had no idea what I was in for when I met with Stephanie. Her bio suggests she is unique with her background in cinematography for big name television networks like Warner Brothers, not to mention her teaching experience in film and TV at the university level. But boy was I in for an experience. I left her studio on top of the world as if I went in one person and came out someone different entirely. She didn't just capture me in images – she saw the version of me that I was not stepping into and helped paint that picture for me through her magical strategic lens. Now that I've been working with Stephanie myself for nearly a year, it is so apparent to me that managing our personal brands through our photos and images is a crucial differentiator that is so easy to do but even more easy not to do. So friends, as you listen to this podcast I want you to think about your opportunities to show up in front of all of your audiences being that version of yourself that you know you are and are so often frustrated that others just don't see. This might just be your magic silver bullet – how can you leverage our virtual world and any opportunity you have, no matter what your position or what business you are in – to show up how you want to be seen. I'm absolutely thrilled to introduce you to Stephanie and talk about the importance of leveraging personal branding. Enjoy!
Today we are talking to a highly regarded leader who's on a mission. Mim is the Executive Director of Healthy Day Partners, a non-profit organization working to nourish and heal people and planet through healthier food systems, ecological practices, and environmental education. That is a long-winded way of saying that Mim has strong values around access and education to real, clean food and also the environment we live in. Mim's unique magnetism has brought together partnerships that have made a significant difference in the city she lives in. It all started with some small projects in her son's school and has transformed into the nations' first school district with an organic farm and farm to table school lunch. Pretty amazing! And a pretty amazing woman. Mim is now taking the programs and solutions she has built over the last 5 years to a larger platform and I couldn't be more excited. I'm interviewing Mim because she truly is a leader. But I'm also bringing Mim to this podcast because I believe food is a key ingredient to our excellence as leaders. Food can make a significant impact on how you feel, how you show up, and how you perform. So listen in leaders – this is gonna be good!!
