Great conversation with James Compton in this episode. We discuss his college football career with the University of Washington as a full back and how he ended up with a 12 year race career in AMA Pro Superbike and Formula Extreme Classes. Later moving to work in the pits with such greats as Ben Spies, Cameron Beaubier, Steve Rapp, Jake Holden to name just a few. Eventually working as a crew chief for Micheal Jordan's AMA Superbike team while creating his first full custom bike, "The Crusher". All of this leading up to James Compton Customs. I had a great time visiting with James and learning about his path to success but most importantly hearing about his love for his wife and kids.  There are a lot of men in this world who can claim success but few that get the chance to share it with others and even fewer with their children. The world needs a few more good fathers. Enjoy Part 1

For the past several years Barrett has created a YouTube channel that covers his journey to becoming the best team roper that he can be. We have done several videos together on horsemanship. I think that he has a great take on becoming a team roper and it is not because he is famous or has won big pot of money roping, rather it is that he is journalling his path of learning to become a good team roper. Why is this important, because I think that people understanding the western lifestyle and why we do things the way we do them is more important now than ever before in the history of our country. There are a lot of things that I do not like about social media but one thing I do like is that it gives people from the city a glance into what the western lifestyle is about and it is also an invitation to those who want to join us in this way of living. Barrett is a great embassidor to the western lifestyle.

Dr. Martin was my veterinarian for most of my show career in the reining horse industry.  He played an important roll in the success of many of my horses over the years.  One of the reasons why I chose him to be part of my team over the years was his passion for the horse and his desire for a job well done.  To be an overachiever you have to at times push and expect more than what is reasonable and that, at times, is a fault itself.  But there is a lot to be said for nothing ventured nothing gained. In this interview I hope that you hear how few times that obstacles are mentioned and how they are seen as opportunities. Also that you do not see someone who is shy to hard work and long hours.  Dr. Mike Martin DVM, Texas A&M BS 1992, Texas A&M DVM 1993,  Former owner of Retama Equine Hospital, Former Owner of Cibolo Small Animal Hospital, Former Commissioner Texas Racing Commission, Former President Texas Equine Veterinary Association, Former President Texas Equine Foundation, Current Advisor for the Texas Equine Foundation.

How often do we sit down and intentionally have a conversation with our kids about how we came to where we are at in our lives? What was life like for me while I was chasing my dreams and passions? Not only talking about what I believe but why do I and how did I come to these conclusions about life and the principles that I desire to live by. Not a bad idea to give your son or daughter the opportunity to interview you and ask the questions that they want to know the answers to.  This will be something that I will continue doing with all my kids. Hope you enjoy this intimate conversation between me and my son.

This is part 1 and I split it up so that no one misses out on anything, plus there is so much to soak in that it really needs to be broken up so that you can grasp all of what he shares. Enjoy!

He just won the West Coast qualifier for ADCC and is on his way to the big show later this year. You are really going to enjoy this one. For one, William is a very well spoken young athlete but what was the most impressive is not only the discipline that he has in his training but also the organization that he has implemented into his program.  This kid is not hitting the high levels of competition by accident, he has a game plan and an eye on what he wants with a plan on how to get there.  Not just in his training but down to his diet and even plans out his days two months in advance to his competitions. He hasn't gotten to where he is by accident. We talk about his journey so far and how he manages and prepares his mental game, not just for a match but also how he resets in between matches. Great interview and insight into the champion mindset of a young man on his way up. Thanks William

We talk about his journey to becoming a  golf instructor with 20+ years of experience and a Jiu Jitsu instructor.   When you first start out to pursue your passion, it is often a selfish endeavor, but the true beauty is in the coming full circle and having the opportunity to help others in their pursuit. It is where joy is found. That is at the heart of a good coach and I see that in Camacho. Nathan Camacho- NAIA All-American 20+ years teaching golf Having multiple juniors finish in top 10 at USKids Golf World Championships, his students participate in USGA"s biggest amateur events. He has taught everyone from beginners to PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour Latin America and Champions Tour players. There is a lot of insight into the healthy mindset of a competitor in this interview, a really good listen for the parent of the young athlete. It is important to keep in mind the full picture and the end goal when coaching youth and young adults. It is a big responsibility and a good coach has the future of the athlete in mind and not temporary satisfaction.
