Pastor Steve Estep opens our conversation with a powerful challenge: "Find what you're passionate about, a need that needs to be met. Roll up your sleeves and get at it." This perfectly captures the spirit of community transformation that drives both his ministry and this enlightening discussion on how churches can be catalysts for community revitalization. As lead pastor of Marion Church of the Nazarene for nearly eight years, Steve shares how his West Virginia roots and early resistance to ministry ultimately led him to Marion, where he's witnessed remarkable community transformation. The church's Celebrate Recovery program – now the largest in Ohio – stands as testament to their approach of doing life with people rather than for them, addressing the hurts and habits that often stem from profound childhood trauma. Our conversation ventures beyond typical church activities to explore creative facility usage – including a thriving partnership with a childcare center serving 150+ children – and universal leadership principles applicable in any setting. Steve articulates four essential leadership functions: defining reality accurately, solving problems effectively, serving people genuinely, and bringing consistent energy when everyone else is discouraged. His morning practice of asking "How's your heart?" offers a practical discipline for maintaining leadership perspective through challenges. What truly distinguishes this episode is our candid discussion of Marion's ongoing revitalization. Steve describes witnessing the city transform from "a place where people come to get high" to "a place where people find hope" through collaborative efforts spanning faith communities, businesses, and civic organizations. This partnership model, where ego and credit-seeking take backseat to genuine progress, provides a blueprint for any community seeking renewal.Whether you're leading a church, business, nonprofit, or simply want to make your neighborhood better, this conversation offers practical wisdom for bringing positive change through collaborative leadership. Guest Links:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/marionfirstchurchofthenazareneMain Street Reimagined:Facebook: facebook.com/MainStreetReimaginedThe Main Street Reimagined Podcast, Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqfkmF5bRH0od1d3iiYKs3oEn_gvMYk7NHenry Development Group:Facebook: facebook.com/henrydevelopmentgroupWebsite: www.henrydevelopmentgroup.comDeveloping News Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/33110524eb5c/developing-newsLuke Henry:LinkedIn: linkedin.com/luhenryFacebook: facebook.com/luke.henry.148#FaithInAction #ServantLeadership #PastorLife #ChristCentered #HopeThroughFaith #MarionIndiana #CommunityRestoration #ChurchAndCommunity #MarionNaz #CelebrateRecovery #RecoveryJourney #HealingThroughFaith #CelebrateRecoveryWorks #RestorationInChrist #FaithBasedRecovery #ChurchCollaboration #CreativeMinistry #ChurchPartnerships #InnovativeMinistry #FaithDrivenChange

What happened at Fox Hollow Farm where Herb Baumeister allegedly murdered at least 11 men. In this special episode, we look at The Horrors of Fox Hollow Farm: Unraveling the History and Hauntings of a Serial Killer's Home by Richard Estep with Robert Graves. The book is a chilling account that's part history, part true crime, and part paranormal investigation that's as captivating as it is terrifying. It's unclear exactly what went on at Fox Hollow, but a grim collection of more than 10,000 bones suggests it was an unspeakable evil. Though this episode concentrates mostly on Estep's book, we'd be remiss if we didn't bring up the four-part docuseries now streaming on Hulu: The Fox Hollow Murders. Episode 241: When is mastering the basics a differentiator? In an industry where complexity is the norm, Prudential Group Insurance has made a counterintuitive strategic choice. While many companies chase innovation through digital transformation and enhanced features, Prudential has discovered that operational excellence—the "absence of noise"—can be a more powerful differentiator. Abhii Parakh and Mike Estep reveal why group insurance demands a fundamentally different approach to customer experience than high-touch industries like hospitality or travel. For Prudential, success depends not on bells and whistles, but on excelling at the foundational elements: reliable execution, friction-free processes, and consistent delivery. "The absence of noise is a tremendous win," Mike emphasizes. "That's not the long-term goal for us. But if you don't get those things right, you won't get the chance to get to the nirvana state where you are separating yourself from the competition because of the experiences you created.” Learn how Prudential delivers seamless experiences across its ecosystem of brokers, employers, and employees by prioritizing simplicity and operational excellence. Discover why, in complex B2B2C environments, flawless execution of core processes can be a more powerful differentiator than feature innovation. The last thing you want to deal with is friction with your group insurance carrier—about reports, getting your commission check, or that we're screwing up the bill and you're getting heat from that client. It doesn't need to be rocket science. There's beauty in simplicity and intuitive experiences that are void of friction.” [00:08:31] “The absence of noise is a tremendous win. Tyler Estep is a local historian, former tobacco farmer & Baptist pastor at the oldest church west of Appalachia, in Adams, Tennessee; home of the infamous Bell Witch! After a reading from a 1904 newspaper that summarizes the Bell Witch mystery, we open on the region's tobacco farming culture. Then we turn to the topic at hand, the Bell Witch. We explore various explanations for the 19th-century hauntings: John Bell & an eccentric neighbor, Kate Batts; The Great Awakening & the demonic; ventriloquism & murder; an Indian curse & land-based hauntings; and lastly, a slave overseer's ghost. Throughout, Tyler openly shares his own strange encounters and spiritual battles with both mental health & the supernatural. For the official story, we hear of town folks' mysterious black dog sightings that harken back to the original accounts by the Bell family slave, Dean. We end on the area's cave systems and a potent warning not to take anything from them!Check out the seasonal plays including Spirit in Adams, Tennessee: BellWitchFallFestival.comBlack dog story reading from An Authenticated History of the Famous Bell Witch  by M. April 23, 1993, the owner of  Ajax Liquor store, Steve Weltig, is found dead on the floor on the floor of his shop. Investigators say it appears a struggle took place just before Weltig is shot in the head. Detectives work the case and develop a suspect sketch, but no real evidence leading to a killer is found and the case goes cold. The case is assigned to different investigators over the years. New leads are  investigated, and evidence collected. In 2015, reliable tips led detectives to Loril Harp. Harp's former wife contacted police and told them Loril Harp shot Weltig. She tells detectives she did not drive her former husband to the liquor store the day of the murder. She was at home and when Harp come home that morning he immediately took a shower. She tells police her ex-husband tells her he just shot a man in an Arnold liquor store.   A friend and former co-worker of Weltig's also tells Arnold police that Harp told him that he shot Weltig. Harp is brought in for an interview but investigators fail to gather enough evidence to seek charges for the murder. Twenty-seven years after the murder of Steve Weltig, another set of detectives take over the case. Looking back over the case file, they watch the 2015 interview with Loril Harp. In that interview, detectives leave the room for a few minutes. During the break, Loril Harp makes a call on his cell phone and what he says lights a fire under the investigation. Loril Harp tells the person on the phone that he is not under arrest,  but "I probably will be before I leave here." The detectives recognize this as a near admission that Loril Harp is expecting something after all these years. Harp is brought back in for a new interview. Investigators Cpl. Brett Acklermann and Detective Corporal Josh Wineinger spend hours talking to Loril Harp.  At 68-years-old, Harp is in bad health and needs 24-hour nursing care. During his interview with the detectives, Loril Harp says he did not shoot Steve Weltig multiple times.  Harp admits that he and Weltig got into a fight, and Harp says he hit Weltig a few times and left. Harp claims he went home and took a shower, right away. And the detectives begin talking about cleaning up the blood when Harp is asked if he had a little blood on him, Harp replies "I must have if I shot him."  This phrase is all detectives need.  Joining Nancy Grace Today Darryl Cohen - Former Assistant District Attorney (Fulton County, Georgia) Former Assistant State Attorney (Florida), Defense Attorney, Cohen, Cooper, Estep, & Allen, LLC, CCEAlaw.com, Facebook: "Darryl B Cohen", Twitter: @DarrylBCohen Dr. Jorey L. When Lindsay Clancy's third child is born, her recovery seems to be different.   The 32-year-old reaches out to her parents and her in-laws to help her manage the children and things around the home. Her husband, Patrick Clancy sets up a home office in the basement to work remotely, so he can be on hand to help. When Lindsay starts to have thoughts of suicide, and worse, hurting the children, she checks herself into the McLean Psychiatric Hospital,  Five days after checking into a psychiatric hospital Lindsay Clancy is reportedly told she doesn't have postpartum depression. Husband Patrick Clancy tells friends that after her hospital stay, Lindsay seems to be getting better. She is sleeping better, interacting with friends and family, and going out in public without any difficulty. When Patrick Clancy asks his wife if she is having any suicidal thoughts, Lindsay Clancy says "No."    Later on in the year, with his wife having been prescribed at least 13 different medications, Patrick Clancy texts a friend saying he's concerned that Lindsey has been prescribed too many medications. Patrick allegedly told friends that he worried she was suffering “the worst side effects possible” from one of her prescriptions. He says he thinks she is going through benzodiazepine withdrawal.    On a Tuesday afternoon Lindsay Clancy sends a text to her husband to pick up takeout.  As Patrick Clancy leaves to pick up dinner, Lindsay sends him a text to stop off by the drugstore and pick up some medicine for the children.   Patrick Clancy stops by the drug store to pick up the medication but gets confused as to exactly which medicine to buy. He calls Lindsay Clancy on the phone, but she doesn't answer. She calls back a minute later. Patrick says she sounded like she was in the middle of something. Lindsay answers his question about the medication and Patrick picks it up and heads to the 3V to get their dinner.  When Patrick Clancy comes home, he's met with silence. He finds his wife in the backyard. She had jumped out of a second-floor window after slitting her wrists. The children are in the basement,  strangled, an exercise band still wound around their necks.   Investigators revealed in court papers that Lindsay Clancy allegedly researched "ways to kill" before the deaths of her three children.  Clancy is in a hospital ward, paralyzed after her second-floor fall, and faces three counts each of murder and strangulation.  Joining Nancy Grace Today: Darryl Cohen – Former Assistant District Attorney (Fulton County, Georgia) Former Assistant State Attorney (Florida), and Defense Attorney: Cohen, Cooper, Estep, & Allen, LLC; Facebook: “Darryl B Cohen;” Twitter: @DarrylBCohen Dr. Angela Arnold – Psychiatrist, Atlanta, GA; Expert in the Treatment of Pregnant/Postpartum Women; Former Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology: Emory University; Former Medical Director of The Psychiatric Ob-Gyn Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital; Voted “My Buckhead's Best Psychiatric Practice of 2022” Brian T.
