Mario started his story as a performer. As soon as he was able to walk he was sneaking into the waiting room of his fathers chiropractic clinic and putting on shows for the patients who were waiting. Everyone loved his shows…except for the staff who grew tired of seeing the same renditions of Dumbo, Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, and The Wizard of Oz over and over again. After high school, Mario pursued his second love in life with the goal to change people’s lives using it as a medium—food. He was a very successful chef for nearly six years before the intense calling of working more closely with others was too loud to ignore. He left the kitchen and started his own business, ironically out of his fathers chiropractic clinic, coaching people to reach their health, wellness, weight, and mindset goals. As Mario operated this business he was also spending every available second studying mindset, psychology, personal growth, spiritual development, and more to apply what he learned to his own life and to more importantly be able to serve others at a deeper more profound level. Mario has authored two cookbooks geared toward healthy living and has also authored a third book centered around achieving personal and business success. Mario has appeared on TV over 50 times promoting his books and business and has been a featured speaker for numerous groups, events, schools, and corporations. He also hosted his own live radio show for about three years, which was also recorded and turned into a podcast with its own exclusive spin-off podcast: https://marioporreca.com/category/10-minute-mindset-podcast/ See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

How can we embrace masculinity, connection and savoring life Meet Tim McAuley who spent the better part of his youth and well into his 20s as a hedonistic pleasure seeker. In 2004, the party came to an end. At age 28 his liver was failing, and he was given an ultimatum: Quit or you’ll be dead by August. A few years later, on a wave off the coast of San Clemente, California he was reborn a 'soul surfer.' That wave brought him into focus and he got a glimpse of his own potential. Surfing taught him how to get out of his own way and just flow. Soul Surfing is Tim’s metaphor. “The principles at play in your development as a surfer are applicable to every area of your life.” With that, Tim founded Soul Surfer School and has been sharing his brand of self-development since. You can find him on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and on https://soulsurferschool.com/ In part 2 of my chat with Tim, he brings it on life, relationships, sex and masculinity…and what inspires him to create, contribute in a meaningful way. If this is the only thing you listen to today, you will be better for it – he really brings it in the last 20mins or so. Enjoy! Can we truly live a life of adventure and bring others along on the journey? Meet Ray Zahab: a Canadian Explorer, ultra distance runner and founder of the non-profit, impossibe2possible. He’s a recipient of the Meritorious Service Cross of Canada, an Explorer in Residence of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. In 2015 Canadian Geographic recognized Ray as one of Canada’s Top Explorers. He’s run 17,000km across the world’s deserts and unsupported expeditions in some of the coldest places on the planet. On November 1, 2006, former “pack a day smoker” turned ultra runner Ray Zahab and two friends, Charlie Engle and Kevin Lin, set out on an expedition to cross the Sahara Desert by foot. 111 days and 7,500 kms after leaving the coast of Senegal, Africa they completed their journey by stepping into the Red Sea. The expedition had the trio running an average of 70kms a day without a single day of rest, for 111 days. National Geographic tracked the expedition by web, as well as the documentary film ‘Running The Sahara’, produced by Matt Damon and directed by Academy Award winner James Moll, was created in an effort to raise awareness for the drinking water crisis in North Africa. In 2008, Ray founded impossible2Possible (i2p) an organization that aims to inspire and educate youth through adventure learning, inclusion and participation in expeditions. What most people don’t expect from someone in finance is a focus on conscious wealth generation and creating more change around the world by way of picking projects with intention. Meet Antonio Del Giudice: an investor, consultant, coach and philanthropist. He was raised in a quaint, urban city in Northern Italy. He was well-adjusted child but a thinker, curious, quiet, lived in his own ‘little’ world and found he never really fit in….all of which has been instrumental in helping him forge my own path while relying on my inner compass, voice and what I deem to be meaningful impact-driven work. He was drawn to the finance world when he won a fully paid sponsorship by the Enrico Mattei Foundation; this act of contribution and kindness left an impression on him. He knew whenever he’d be in a similar position, he would do the same for someone else. His studies and career have taken him to different corners of the world working in capital markets and investment banking in France, Italy, the US, and the UK before deciding to quit the corporate life to open my own consulting and coaching firm out of Dubai. When we empower youth, we empower ourselves. Maya Angelou said, “We all have a place within us that no one can touch.” On this episode of Words and Voices I continue my conversation with Landon Porter as he explains the concept of “God Mode” and how our awareness of ourselves helps us interact more intently with the world around us. We also discuss the desire to connect with others and what to do when we feel that burning desire to get our message into the world. After a lifetime of wrong turns, Landon Porter finally found a way to live out the rest of his life doing EXACTLY what he wanted. Just because it seems that he has it all - a super healthy marriage, a career he loves, a loving relationship with his family, it wasn't always that simple for him. In fact, a lot of times he woke up in the mornings living out his own personal hell. Not for trying to do it better. He was raised by a practitioner in Science of Mind and has studied the work of all kinds of gurus and teachers. Spiritualists, psychonauts, psychologists, and people who just refused to stick with the "given" path. Eventually, he tired of the angry, frustrated feelings and was able to piece together the education he had received his entire life. And it turns out they all were saying the same damn thing... On this episode of Words and Voices I continue my conversation with Scott Brills as he shares how he started his journey as an entrepreneur from a desire to make an impact larger than any job he could find. Scott Brills is an international entrepreneur and adventure capitalist making a living in the travel and tourism space. Having started his adventure and business career at the age of 19 in the technology field, he has since been to nearly 100 countries and has started companies in six of them along the way. A true test of resiliency is to do the right thing when no one is watching. On this episode of Words and Voices I’m continuing my conversation with Pastor Carl Shepard as we discuss ethics and moral code as a base of religion and how navigating differing interpretations of scripture often closes the church off from the rest of the community. Pastor Carl also tell us why humans are built for survival and how we can utilize new opportunities to help others. Carl was born and raised in the Adirondack mountains of northern New York in the US. He graduated as valedictorian from Johnsburg Central and went on to the University at Albany for a BS and MS in science teaching with a physics major, then later attained a second MS and PhD in physics. Most of his research had to do with trying to make better computer chips using copper. Carl taught high school for 14 years at Newcomb Central in the high peaks region of the Adirondacks, one of the smallest K-12 schools in NY state. He then taught at SUNY Cobleskill and moved into administration over a period of over 20 years. Retiring from education at age 55, Carl became a licensed local pastor in the United Methodist Church, serving four different small churches over a period of 14 years. Carl was at one time an avid tennis player but now is an avid golfer. He also has always been a singer lending his bass voice to many church and community choirs, a barbershop chorus, and a gospel quartet. He has been married to Johanne for 50 years and has two grown sons and sons-in-law.
