After the long wait of 2023, The RIOT Morning Show gets to sit down with lead singer of Project 86, Andrew Schwab, to talk about the release date of the band's final album "OMNI: Part 2" along with the release of their first single off the album "Ultraviolent".
With 1 out of every 3 U.S. health care dollars emanating from Washington, the federal government is the single largest payer of health services in the United States and accounts for nearly half of all national health spending. As our country ages, these forces are accelerating, with Medicare spending alone projected to increase by 7.5% annually through 2031. Healthcare companies that depend on government revenue – or are downstream from it – must begin to view policymakers as among their most important customers. Impactful organizations that will succeed in the new era of value-based care will learn how to leverage the unparalleled value of internal advocacy. By creating extraordinarily powerful messaging for policymakers to understand what is needed for value-based innovation, we exercise our right to form a more perfect union. While healthcare will never be perfect, we must still strive for perfection – that is at the heart of value-based care transformation in our country! On the Race to Value this week, we interview Andrew Schwab – a value-based care leader, an intentional strategist, and a master of Washington's internal game. He brings a bold, brash, no-holds-barred approach to government affairs by coaching and mentoring forward-thinking organizations ready to invest in their internal policy teams so they can thrive in a new era of value-based care. Prior to establishing his own firm, Platform Government Strategies, Andrew advocated in-house on behalf of both nonprofits and private sector organizations. Most recently, Andrew established Oak Street Health's first government affairs function that put them at the center of the national value-based care conversation and contributed to their recent acquisition by CVS Health. Episode Bookmarks: 01:30 The federal government is the single largest payer of health services and accounts for nearly half of all national health spending. 02:00 Healthcare companies that depend on government revenue must begin to view policymakers as among their most important customers. 02:30 Introduction to Andrew Schwab and his public affairs consulting firm, Platform Government Strategies. 05:30 The glacial pace of the value-based care movement. Our guest this week is musician, author, and podcaster Andrew Schwab, who is a founding member and lifelong vocalist for Project 86! Andrew has been creating music through Project 86 for over 25 years, and during that time, he has seen and experienced A LOT. Our conversation centers around his upbringing and introduction to music, getting swept up in the Christian rock wave of the late 90's/early 00's, pushing back against the Christian “parallel culture” thing most of us grew up in, and how his faith has changed and grown over the years. After listening to one of his podcasts called “Ceasefire!,” we really wanted to get into some questions about Andrew's views on current events and political topics, but we just ran out of time. He has graciously offered to come back and talk about those things in the near future, so we're looking forward to that! All in all, Andrew is a great guy and a creative force of nature, and we really enjoyed talking to him. Project 86 released part 1 of their final album, “OMNI,” which is a concept album with all sorts of accompanying materials intended to pull the listener into the story. It's fantastic, and all you grownup metalcore kids might be interested to know that the guys from Norma Jean helped record and produce the album. In our latest podcast, we had the pleasure of hosting Andrew Schwab, the Vice President & Head of Government Affairs at Oak Street Health. Together, we dived deep into the realm of policy strategies, entrepreneurial stability, and the future of value-based care.Andrew elaborates on why maintaining a long-term view is crucial in policy strategies and the role it plays in patient-centered healthcare. For budding entrepreneurs, he underscores the importance of financial backing, a critical safety net that allows innovators to focus on the business vision rather than immediate survival needs. One of the key topics we explored is value-based care and its vast superiority over the 'fee for service' model. Is it so successful that the government might reconsider the PMPM as patients become less costly? Andrew further sheds light on why value-based care aligns more closely with patients' needs and desires. It fosters deeper relationships between doctors and patients, leading to higher professional satisfaction for physicians.Tune in to discover insightful perspectives on healthcare policy and entrepreneurial strategies. It's a conversation packed with valuable takeaways for anyone interested in healthcare entrepreneurship and policy reform. There are bands few and far between who have gone through what Project 86 has seen over the years, and we had the chance to invite frontman Andrew Schwab on the podcast to talk all about it. Andrew dives into “Omni Part 1,” the newest creation from the OC-based metalcore outfit. Project 86 has dropped 11 albums in a near three decade span, and this latest album was nearly in the talks of it being their swansong. But in one of our most thorough conversations we have ever had with our guests, Andrew tells us a story that we will never forget, and from the looks of it, this new chapter for Project 86 may not be the last after all. From intense songwriting, to growing personal morale, to sci-fi themes, and to film influences, “Omni Part 1” has brought out the best in Andrew. We also get to talk about his work as an author and as a podcaster himself. An episode for the books, and we've only just begun with “Omni Part 1.” Tune in now and be sure to buy and stream Project 86's newest epic, out now worldwide on all streaming platforms.
