In this episode, business coach Angela Mastrogiacomo talks about setting an attainable goal for your business. She also shares her insights about what hinders people from making money in their business.KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS EPISODEWhen you start running a business, it’s good to have attainable milestones and hit it quickly. It is vital in the beginning to focus on one thing. What hinders people from attaining their goals is just usually themselves.Building relationships is important in business.Have a plan. You can’t just wing it. TODAY’S GUESTAngela Mastrogiacomo helps female service-based entrepreneurs step into their passion and start or scale their business through her one-on-one coaching program. She started with her music blog in college. It was not a business yet, but she learned a lot from it. Eventually, she graduated from college and started working. She hated the jobs that she had. It forced her to think about starting a business, so she started a business, a PR company. Then, she began with the consistent 5k month program, where she helped other people launch their business and get their first 5k months consistently. When she was starting, she just had one solid offer that she focused on until she had a good client base, and then she started exploring. At first, she struggled with networking because she’s an introvert, but now it is the easiest thing for her, and she loves it. She is also the creator of The Story Behind the Journey podcast.Find her on her websites:Website: https://www.angelamastrogiacomo.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/angela_Mastro/If you’re feeling tired and overwhelmed, it is time to hire a virtual assistant! Angela Mastrogiacomo teaches service-based entrepreneurs how to build a business quickly and efficiently, and get paying clients right away without first having a website, or being an influencer on social media. Join me as she shares some of the business strategies that she's used to pull in $5K+ months for herself and for her clients, while helping entrepreneurs to make an impact. Today, I have a special guest I'm so excited to connect with. Angela, is it Mastrogia? How do you say your last name? Angela Mastrogiacomo: It's Mastrogiacomo. Kimberly Olson: Oh, okay. I think I'll leave that to you and I'll work on memorizing that. But it makes you memorable, which is important. So you are the creator of The Story Behind the Journey, and we've gotten a chance to know each other really well. And I'm so, so excited to have you on, so thank you for being here today. Angela Mastrogiacomo: Yeah. Thank you so much for having me. Kimberly Olson: Yes. So when we were getting to know each other previously, before this episode, I found out that you actually have a music background, which is cool. 'Cause both my parents were musicians and that's how they met. And I just have such a love for music. But you were in the music industry and now you help clients scale to 5,000 or 5K months. So can we please, is it 5k months or five figure months? Angela Mastrogiacomo: Yeah, 5K months. Kimberly Olson: 5K months. That's incredible. So basically easily replacing their salary and then some. So can we talk a little bit about you, your background in the music industry and how that transition came to be? Angela Mastrogiacomo: Yeah, absolutely. I love that you asked me this. So yeah, I started in the music industry. If we go back probably about a decade, I was still in college. I had started a music blog, because really simply I had fallen in love with this band that I saw on stage and I really wanted to talk to them and I couldn't think of a normal way to do that. So I thought- Kimberly Olson: Awesome. Angela Mastrogiacomo: Right? I was like, I'll just go way out of my way to create a blog so that I can seem professional and talk to them. That's totally normal. Kimberly Olson: It's actually brilliant. Angela Mastrogiacomo: And as it turned out, that was a great way to talk to them. And it was also a great way to talk to other bands and to eventually build a business. So I had this blog and I had it all through college, graduated college. And all the while I was thinking, you know, I'd kind of like to turn this blog into an actual career, but that's pretty hard to do. You know, I think a blog is a great launching point, but it's difficult to make the actual blog the primary source of income. And so all the while as I'm doing this, I've graduated from college. I have a communications degree, which is kind of like, what does that even mean? I don't even know. I didn't know, even at the time. And so I'm working all these jobs and I'm miserable. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thegoaldiggergirl/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thegoaldiggergirl/support
Change your latitude - Digital Nomads & Alternative Life Livers
People often wonder what are the main struggles when it comes to launching your first business. Ironically enough, it’s how to enjoy having your own business and taking advantage of the freedom we create. This week on the podcast my guest is Angela Mastrogiacomo, who helps people launch businesses successfully. We chat about some of the things we tend to forget on our first entrepreneurial path. Rather than seeing our entrepreneurial journey as a whole, like one big ongoing experiment, we tend to get bogged down in getting it all right on the first try. We over-plan the long term and forget about why we started a business to begin with:... freedom. For those of you interested in injecting playfulness in entrepreneurship, this is for you! On Episode 4 of the Generation GC podcast, we're talking about "Dance Floor Anthem (I Don't Wanna Be In Love)" from Good Charlotte's 2007 album Good Morning Revival. My guest this week is Angela Mastrogiacomo, the owner of Muddy Paw PR (http://muddypawpr.com) and the founder of THRIVE (https://www.angelamastrogiacomo.com/thrive), a music business mentorship and coaching community. Unlike most of our guests, Angela did not come in to this recording as a GC fan, so we had a lot of fun talking about her thoughts on "Dance Floor Anthem" and the band in general. We talked about GC going "dance" and how tough it can be to write reviews of your favorite bands, and we also ponder whether going out dancing can solve your problems (or at least make you feel better). In this episode, I’m sitting down with Angela Mastrogiacomo to lift the veil on the mysterious world of public relations. We talk about removing the barrier to entry for entrepreneurs (that’s you!) who want to gain exposure for their brands + businesses. Together we chat about the steps to getting started, how to pitch with purpose (and personalization!) + setting expectations that keep your confidence in tact.
Angela Mastrogiacomo is an entrepreneur, publicist, blogger, and founder of Muddy Paw PR and Infectious Magazine. What inspires me about Angela, is all the amazing content she puts out there for artists to learn more about email etiquette, social media management and marketing, mental health issues in the music business, motivation, and so much more. The amount of information she contributes to the industry is too much for one podcast episode, and we’ll definitely need to get her back for a round two. This episode is packed with information on social media management and marketing, writing your own bio, how to get a publicist and what she looks for in artists, and much more. The latest episode of the DIY Artist Route Podcast is here! And it features none other than my good friend Angela Mastrogiacomo.Aside from being one of the most inspiring and kick-ass people I know, Angela excels at the real heart of PR and marketing work: relationship building. That's why I had to have her on the podcast to share her insights with you.As a music curator and media host, there are a lot of marketing and PR people who contact me every day, usually for the same reasons. They have an artist or band they want to promote. Maybe there's a new single their artist just released and they want media feature on my radio show. They want a review or feature of some kind. This are some of the traditional ways that music promoters, publicists, and PR companies operate. Tragically though, many marketing and PR endeavors fail. Whether it's a company that charges and arm & a leg for their work or it's a do-it-from-scratch solo artist reaching out to media for feature, the key element in this puzzle is…….you guessed it, relationship building.Which has become somewhat of a buzzword these days. When subjects as important as relationship building become buzzwords, it's easy to lose the meaning of the concept. Which is another big subject we dive into in this podcast. One big thing that trips creative entrepreneurs like you and I up is our own negative mindsets. Wait, what does that have to do with marketing, or with relationship building? Everything my friend! Our ego can be our worst enemy. For some artists, the ego says that who they can't connect with a music influencer with their story or music. So they try to parrot the work that other bigger artists do to promote themselves. It's not genuine, therefore it doesn't connect in the best ways that a sincere approach to relationship does.Other artists struggle with a more arrogant form of ego, one that tells them they should be treated like royalty. So talk yourself up like you're a god, and have the media eating out of your hand. And if they don't respond to you this way, screw 'em!That's the ego talking. When you work on marketing yourself, building genuine one-to-one relationships takes you further than anything. It's what's made Angela so successful with her work on Muddy Paw PR and Infectious Magazine. She's written tons of articles for Sonicbids and other music-centered publications, all covering the subjects of marketing, PR, and relationship building. We all deal with ego. Ego affects our mindsets, creates fears and insecurities, and if not dealt with can cause struggles that aren't overcome. One weapon against the work of the ego is vulnerability. Sounds strange right? How can vulnerability be the antidote to ego? Angela and I discuss this at length in the podcast.I'm being fairly overt here. Listen to the podcast. Download it. Share it. Then connect with both of us and share your story with us.Here are some ways to connect with Angela. She wants to hear from you so reach out to her and tell her you heard her on the DIY Artist Route.Muddy Paw PRInfectious MagazineFacebookTwitterShe gave her email at the end of the podcast, but in case you missed it you can contact her via angela@muddypawpr.comFears and mindsets are struggles for everyone. Honestly, dealing with personal fears and negative mindsets has been a very big part of my year in 2017, which is why you haven't seen me post as many blogs or pieces.

Music blogger turned entrepreneur Angela Mastrogiacomo discusses why she chose to follow her passion by starting her own business (Muddy Paw PR) and travelling city to city organizing music industry meetups. Long episode description: I was so excited to talk with Angela Mastrogiacomo for this episode because her story instantly clicked with me. It’s actually kind of cool how I connected with Angela. As you know from listening to my podcast episode with my husband Josh, he’s a freelance audio engineer and a big part of his job is to network in hopes of finding his next gig. Well, he started going to this one industry meet-up called Balanced Breakfast and guess who created the whole darn thing — Angela. He came home after his first meet-up and told me that Angela would make the perfect guest for my podcast. Considering she’s a music blogger and started her own PR company at a very young age, he was bang on the money and I contacted her soon after. In this episode, we talk about a lot of different things but mainly how Angela got the courage to follow her big passion — working in the music industry. Coming from an arts background myself, I know that is no easy task, but Angela is just one of those amazing people who takes those risks because the alternative is not an option. Not only did she start her own company, she’s also trying to change the music industry itself. She’s going city to city to create these industry meet-ups so artists, producers and engineers can network and hopefully create some fruitful relationships. Angela is so freaking cool, you just really need to listen to this episode. We mentioned a few important links in this episode, so here they are below. And of course I gave out a few more shout outs to some very nice iTunes reviewers. Thanks guys!
