Self-learners want to learn on their own accord, and at their own pace. How can we fit into a college like environment, or create one ourselves? In honor of Higher Education Day we are talking about how to go about your own while being and Autodidact. Blog: https://polyinnovator.space/higher-education-for-autodidacts/ Video: https://youtu.be/vUha-MtcMbk
I discuss how we tend to minimize the talent behind a self paced learner. How many Autodidacts do we have to thank for incredible ideas. The myth of genius is limiting, but the myth of being a self taught learner is worse? Imagine the benefits of supporting fast learners, who could in turn help the slower learners. Raising all boats. Forget neuro divergent hiring, we are all atypical. Unleash the bonds. Do our children learn language best at a young age, or do we assume that?

In Episode 137 of Hidden Forces, Demetri Kofinas speaks with professor of finance at Beijing’s Peking University, Michael Pettis. Profesor Pettis’ research has focused mainly on Chinese financial markets, global trade & capital flows, and central banking. He spent seventeen years on Wall Street running fixed-income trading and capital market desks and has advised governments on privatizations of national banking systems and commercial bank debt restructuring & loan issuance. In their latest book, “Trade Wars are Class Wars,” Michael Pettis and his co-author Matthew Klein argue that rising inequality within countries heightens trade conflicts between them. The entire conversation lasts for approximately two hours and we devote the first hour to understanding how balance of payments and capital flows—themselves heavily dependent on the dynamics of wealth and income distribution within a country’s borders—can generate imbalances in trade, asset prices, interest rates, debt levels, and currency valuations, often leading to misallocations of capital for the surplus and deficit countries alike. The second hour is devoted to applying this balance of payments framework to specific economies—namely, the United States, the Eurozone, and China. Demetri and Michael discuss how the financial instability generated from the sorts of imbalances discussed in this episode are now seeping into our systems of government, turning a financial crisis into a political one. For Super Nerds and Autodidacts, you will want to consult your rundowns and have your transcripts handy for this episode. There are links in the rundown to many of the concepts and theories discussed, as well as charts and images that are relevant to the discussion. Education vs Indoctrination with Dr. Ron Paul In his third appearance on the Outer Limits of Inner Truth, Dr. Ron Paul discusses the foundation of his moral code. Dr. Paul also speaks about the difference between genuine education and indoctrination. If one reads the biographies of some of history’s most celebrated figures, be they scientists, mathematicians, writers, entrepreneurs, inventors or businessmen, and you’ll soon find a common trait – many were either partially or completely self-taught. Autodidacts, as they are known, are well represented in the annals of history – but why should that be? Moreover, how might the principles of self-education help today’s young people become tomorrow’s movers and shakers? Dr. Ron Paul, an eleven-term congressman from Texas, is the leading advocate of freedom in our nation’s capital. He has devoted his political career to the defense of individual liberty, sound money, and a non-interventionist foreign policy. Judge Andrew Napolitano calls him “the Thomas Jefferson of our day.” After serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force in the 1960s, Dr. Paul moved to Texas to begin a civilian medical practice, delivering over four thousand babies in his career as an obstetrician. He served in Congress from 1976 to 1984, and again from 1996 to the present. Dr. Paul and Carol Paul, his wife of fifty-one years, have five children, eighteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.Ron Paul, the New York Post once wrote, is a politician who “cannot be bought by special interests.” “There are few people in public life who, through thick and thin, rain or shine, stick to their principles,” added a congressional colleague. “Ron Paul is one of those few.” ============================================== Ron Paul Homeschooling: The Ron Paul Liberty Report (Updated Daily): The Ron Paul Institute:

Biographies of history's most celebrated figures, be they entrepreneurs, scientists or business men, you'll soon find a common trait - many were either partially or completely self-taught. Autodidacts as they are known were once inexperienced. Today we find ourselves faced with a world of work, that can, at times, seem a little bewildering if one is technologically ignorant. Being self taught is not only a great way of setting oneself apart from the pack, it provides insight- not only into particular subjects, but into one's own capabilities. Given how easy integrating a certain level of self-teaching into one's lifestyle has become, there's never been a better time. Stay tuned and get ready to be informed by the gospel according to Dartey Media on the Self Taught Novice Podcast. Matt and Jay have lots of varied interests. Stuff we have been interested in since childhoo and things they have recently become obsessed with. We enjoy reading and learning about new and different things and our interests are quite eclectic. People are always surprised by all of the little bits of trivia Matt and Jay know. Not that we're experts on stuff or anything really, but we do have at least a basic working knowledge of lots of different subjects. That's what we're gonna talk about this week. Well, until we get distracted and go off in a random direction and never make it back around to the show's topic. That's part of our charm. Speaking of charm, the lovely and talented Jamie Mapleleaf will be there with week with another hilarious edition of "Eye on America." She'll bring the IWS Players along with her to help us entertain the masses. All this and of course YOUR CALLS as you call us up and tell us all about all the weird and wacky things you are an expert in. Set your alarms, wake the kids and alert the neighbors because it's time once again for IWS Radio!
