Thenmozhi Soundararajan is a Dalit American artist, community organizer, technologist, and theorist. Currently, Thenmozhi is the Executive Director of Equality Labs, which she co-founded. Equality Labs is the largest Dalit civil rights organization working to empower caste-oppressed people in the US and globally. Through her work at Equality Labs, Thenmozhi has mobilized South Asian Americans towards dismantling eons-long systems of oppression, with the goal of ending caste apartheid, gender-based violence, white supremacy, and religious intolerance. Thenmozhi previously co-founded Third World Majority, an international media training organization and collective that supported people from disenfranchised groups in telling their own stories, in their own way. Her intersectional, cross-pollinating work—research, education, art, activism, and digital security—helps to create a more generous, global, expansive, and inclusive definition of South Asian identity, along with safe spaces from which to honor the stories of these communities. Thenmozhi's work has been highly recognized by several prestigious organizations including The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, The Museum of Contemporary Art, The National Science Foundation, and many more. She is a frequent contributor on issues related to South Asia, caste, gender, and racial equity, as well interfaith issues and peacebuilding, and has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, BBC, Guardian, ABC, and NBC news. She was also an inaugural fellow of the Atlantic Foundation for Racial Equity and is a current fellow at Stanford Center for South Asian Studies. In this enlightening and informative conversation, Thenmozhi shares with Rachel her own personal experience of trauma from caste-based oppression, and explains the ways in which it inspired her activism and advocacy work. Today opens with me admitting I really cannot explain how the elections rolled out yesterday. While some areas embraced the message of American greatness, that same message elsewhere fell on deaf ears. It feels as though abortion and dope and pornography was an equally strong message in part of the nation. How do we get a hold of such a fractured country? So, to divert from the elections for a moment, I turn to an exclusive from Laura Loomer who found Judge Arthur Engoron's wife, Dawn Marie Engoron. That's the judge overseeing the Trump fraud case in New York City brought by AG Letitia James. It seems the wife has had not problem spreading hate and bile against Donald Trump and his supporters. Let's add this to the growing mountain of reasons why this whole travesty should be thrown out as a gross mistrial! This leads to another bit of information revealed by Julie Kelly, who loves to dive into the minutiae of trials and court cases. She recently found out that the Jack Smith case against Trump for having classified documents at Mar-a-Lago may be in deep trouble. It seems, during discovery, the defense found a memo where the Administration came to find out that no one had taken Donald Trump's clearance away. And, for some reason, that got me to talk a bit about the Big Fanni Willis case in Atlanta, Georgia where several of those RICO charged defendants have copped a plea. What the Legacy/mainstream media didn't tell you is every plea, thus far, falls under the First Offender statute. In Georgia, if both sides agree to First Offender, than as soon as the conditions of that plea have been met, the case disappears and is expunged from the record. It's as if they never did anything wrong. Back to election night. Is abortion up to the moment of birth really the one subject strong enough to make voters vote for more of what the Joe Biden administration is dolling out? Maybe we have let the culture wars permeate too much of public education for too long. I'm not happy about it, but maybe we need to start opening up the discussion of embracing the European standards for abortion. After all, at least 21 European countries have abortion bans after 12 weeks. Maybe, until we can rehabilitate the education system in our nation, we will have to push for a more middle-of-the-road compromise. By the way, did you know the leadership of Hamas is worth $11 billion dollars? Still think all of that “aid” and “relief” is actually getting to the Palestinian people? If you really wanted to help the innocent people, you should be pushing for Israel to crush Hamas as fast as possible and then work on distributing all the wealth to those to whom you care about so much. Also, isn't it interesting how closely the models for governance work from Hamas to what the Left in this country wants – rule by elites? This leads to some thoughts by J.T. Young of The Federalist. The title of the piece is, “Leftists silently shredding hostage posters are saying exactly what you think they are.” It's a further indictment of just how much hate, anti-Semitism and lack of inclusion really exists on the Left. It has always been that way, they are just so much better at propaganda. Closing on a positive story, a coffee shop owner in NYC wanted to send her proceeds to Israel. Her over-Woke baristas quit, leaving her by herself. Her own mother came to help work the shop. When word got out, people lined up around the block to buy a cup of coffee from her. Perry Bulwer was Born in Port Alberni, British Columbia, Canada, where he joined the Children of God after dropping out of high school at age 16. He then spent the next two decades living in Children Of God communes across the world. In 1991, at the age of 36, he was finally able to escape the cult. Perry now advocates for second-generation cult survivors, and continues to shed light on the Children of God, a/k/a "The Family". Chad Harris and Lindsey Williams both grew up under the teachings of the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) cult in their Advanced Training Institute homeschool program. They were also both featured in the popular Amazon docuseries ShinyHappy People: Duggar Family Secrets. Chad left those teachings behind in his mid-twenties and went on a journey of deconstruction and learning that led him to become a vocal critic of Christian fundamentalism. He started telling his life story on TikTok in 2020. His goal is to see the IBLP shuttered once and for all, and those responsible for its harm brought to justice and accountability for their actions. Lindsey shares stories of her upbringing and how she has worked to heal from the indoctrination and conditioning that controlled so much of her life. Because of the ongoing abuse perpetrated by IBLP and its teachings, she continues to tell her story in order to show other survivors there's a community waiting to embrace them as they leave and thrive, in what she calls "real life". She now works as a professional makeup artist and hair stylist in New York and Los Angeles, which she has done for the past 15 years.
