What if the very place you went for safety, love, and divine wisdom turned out to be the scene of the crime? Today we're diving headfirst into the world of spiritual abuse. This week, I'm joined by Katherine Spearing, founder of Tears of Eden, trauma recovery practitioner, and author of a new book, A Thousand Tiny Paper Cuts. If you've ever been told that “God doesn't want your happiness, He wants your holiness” while you were slowly disintegrating inside, well, friend, you're in for a ride. Buckle up, because we're talking:Why spiritual abuse is often so subtle you won't realize you're bleeding out until you're halfway through a panic attackHow high-control religious environments get you to abuse yourself (sick, right?)The toxic theology that turns God into a cranky toddler with a lightning boltKey Takeaways:Spiritual abuse is real, complex, and often normalized. Just because it's subtle doesn't mean it's not wrecking your soul. You're not wrong for wanting peace, freedom, and autonomy. That's not “selfish.” That's survival.Religious trauma isn't just in your head. It's in your nervous system, and it needs gentle care to heal. You get to get your mail from God. Not from your pastor, your husband, or some elder board in polyester pants.Patriarchy is the backbone of most spiritual abuse. If your theology only benefits dudes, it's not the gospel, it's a con. There's a whole beach of freedom outside that toxic church sandbox. And God's not mad you left.Read the full show notes and/or ask Natalie a question hereRelated Resources:Grab a copy of Katherine's book, A Thousand Tiny Paper CutsConnect with Katherine on InstagramHop on Katherine's mailing list and get some free resources while you're on her site. “Hope and Change.” “Build Back Better.” “For the People.” These seem like perfume ads.Sounds nice—until you smell what's underneath. Today on Worldview Legacy, Joel Settecase delivers a wake-up call for Christians navigating the cultural chaos of secular education, false religions, and faulty reasoning. Through the lens of Proverbs 9 and the solid foundation of God's Word, Joel explores what happens when we build our lives—and our worldviews—on anything other than Jesus Christ.Joel breaks down three key areas: the failure of public education to remain neutral, the internal contradictions of Mormonism, and how even logic itself demands a triune God. This episode equips listeners with biblical clarity and apologetic confidence to stand firm in the truth. In this episode, you'll learn:Why your intellectual "house" needs a rock-solid foundationHow public schools already promote a religious worldview (and it's not Christian)What “separation of church and state” really meant to the FoundersWhy neutrality in education is a myth—and what replaces itHow to engage Mormons using a 3-step Presuppositional approachWhy the three laws of logic point directly to the triune God of ScriptureThat all truth, wisdom, and knowledge are hidden in Jesus ChristKey Takeaways:There is no such thing as worldview neutrality—education is always discipleshipSecular humanism functions as the dominant religion in public education todayJesus must be the foundation of all true learning, not an optional additionMormonism collapses under the weight of its own theological contradictionsLogic reflects the mind and nature of the triune GodRemove Jesus, and you lose the ability to even account for truthJoin the Hammer & Anvil Society:The premier discipleship community for Christian men who want to master apologetics, pass on the faith, and build lasting legacies.

I introduce TRP backstory in this episode by beginning a fair use and a transformative reading of a book I encountered in high screwel at Chatfield High Screwel in Jefferson County, Littleton, Colorado in 1991. I wrote an article about it in my high screwel newspaper, the Chatfield Charter. This is a first in a series of TRP backstory episodes on The Republican Professor podcast. I believe I originally used my paper route money to buy the book myself at Summit Ministries in Summer 1991 in Manitou Springs, Colorado. Thanks to my Grandpa Mather for sending me those 4 years. The book is "Illiberal Education: The Politics of Race and Sex on Campus" (NY, New York: Free Press, 1991) by a very young Dinesh D'Souza. We want to encourage you to buy the book either used or new. Throw some money at the publisher for the book to reward them for publishing good books. Follow D'Souza on social media and check out his films as well as his books. Get the book and follow along. We want to thank Free Press for making this material available and thank D'Souza for writing it. Thank you, Dinesh. This episode includes a reading of Psalms 42 and 43 (KJV) as well as the January 12th selection from Streams in the Desert (Cowman, Los Feliz Lost Angeles, 1925). Warmly, Lucas J. Episode 602This episode dives deep into the powerful and personal journey of Lisa Ekman, a former Democratic insider who reveals her dramatic shift in worldview, moving from progressive establishment advocate to fierce critic of authoritarian mandates, government control, and media censorship. Through candid conversation, she exposes the cracks in party dogma, the dangers of tribalism, and the dark side of political and public health narratives during the COVID-19 pandemic. The discussion explores her awakening, the psychological costs of abandoning lifelong beliefs, her new book "Deprogramming Democrats and Uneducating Elites: How I Escaped the Progressive Cult," and a scathing critique of the media, higher education, and the two-party system. This unsparing exchange is a must listen for anyone questioning the mainstream, yearning for honest debate, or seeking the courage to break free from groupthink.

What happens when you choose a normal birth with twins? In this episode, I speak with Nicole, a mother from South Africa now living in the U.S., who chose sovereignty in one of the most medicalized and “high-risk” experiences imaginable: an identical twin pregnancy. From the very beginning, she was met with fear-based narratives—warnings of stillbirth, premature labor, and twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. But after enduring traumatic experiences in hospitals and with midwives, Nicole knew she would not birth her twins within the system.Instead, she underwent a profound process of deconditioning and committed to trusting her body. With the steady support of her husband, a Radical Birth Keeper graduate, and a community of women walking this same path, Nicole carried her twins to 40 weeks and welcomed them at home, in embodied sovereignty.Nicole shares the raw reality of holding responsibility for twins outside the system: the constant conversations about risk, the deep conviction it took to turn away completely, and the profound freedom of reclaiming birth on her own terms.Inside this episode:What Nicole witnessed in the hospital that made her vow never to returnHow she carried her twins to full term, trusting her body's wisdomThe support she found in a community of sovereign mothersWhat labor with twins looked like at homeThe double standard of blame when outcomes differ at home versus in the hospitalThe freedom and healing that come with birthing twins in sovereigntyTimestamps:[00:00] Introduction[02:59] Two miscarriages and lack of support and answers from the medical system[07:05] Receiving news of a third unviable pregnancy and deciding not to take the pill[09:02] Discovering that the medical system was wrong about her third pregnancy, and that her baby was alive and healthy in her womb[11:19] Birthing her first son in a birthing center with a midwife, forced interventions, a fourth degree tear, and newborn separation[21:36] Postpartum hospital trauma, overreactions and threats[25:15] Another miscarriage and humiliating hospital treatment[32:13] Finding out she was pregnant with twins, midwife refusing to provide care, and choosing freebirth[1:00:00] Freebirthing her twins at home with her husband and birth attendant presentIf you want to connect more with Nicole, follow her on Instagram.Find more from Emilee on Instagram, YouTube and the Free Birth Society website.Disclaimer: Free Birth Society, LLC of North Carolina shares personal and educational stories and experiences related to freebirth and holistic care. Mega-church leader Kirby John Caldwell returns to the pulpit after serving time for a $3.6 million wire fraud scheme involving selling worthless Chinese bonds as investments. The hosts dissect the stunning hypocrisy and grifting required to defraud one's own flock, only to be welcomed back with a standing ovation. This highlights the endemic problem of unchecked financial abuse within religious institutions and the manipulation strategies used by clergy and their families to maintain control over vulnerable, often uneducated congregations in places like the Deep South.News Source:Texas Pastor Returns to Megachurch After Prison for $3.6M FraudBy Anugrah Kumar for The Christian PostSunday, August 10th, 2025
In this powerful and deeply personal episode, Carl takes a step back from the usual format to reflect on the shocking themes of violence, radicalization, and the growing challenges facing today's younger generations. Ruminating on the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk as a focal point, Carl's monologue explores how ideological extremism, campus culture, and unchecked digital influence have created an environment where young people can be drawn into dangerous movements. This reflection isn't only about one tragedy—it's about the bigger story of how our children are being shaped, influenced, and in some cases weaponized by toxic systems. Carl outlines the stages of radicalization, the role universities and online platforms play, and the responsibility we all share as parents, educators, leaders, and citizens. This episode is both a wake-up call and a call to action. If we want to reclaim our children's future, it requires more than words—it requires courage, involvement, and a recommitment to truth and critical thinking.

All of it.My conscience, my ego and myself. This is it.With God at the centre of it all.Enjoy
Godliness always brings a response. That response won't always be applause, but we need to choose godliness anyway. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses spiritual growth and the cost of following Jesus wholeheartedly. With the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk, it's tempting to let anxiety and worry about evil in our nation take hold—but the Lion of the tribe of Judah has already overcome all of Satan's plans. We've let a lukewarm Christianity settle in our communities for a while now, but we can change. At a time when it may feel easier or safer to stay quiet, one of the most important things we can do is acknowledge the authority of Jesus in public.
How do we respond when threats against our faith become so public and antagonizing, and when rhetoric in the media is so divisive and hate-filled? In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the Church in the United States and the need for courage and repentance. We watched a bold move from Satan when Charlie Kirk was assassinated, leaving many of us anxious and confused. Pastor Allen reminds us that we don't need to be afraid—God has equipped us to resist evil. He shares stories from the life of leaders like David and Peter, who overcame threats and persecution through the power of the Holy Spirit. Now more than ever before, it's time for us to be courageous for the Lord.
Universities have long been captured by liberal academics, and the fight for America's youth on campus at times feels hopeless. What made Charlie Kirk effective was that he did not run from that problem but ran head-on into it. Victor Davis Hanson explains this key aspect of Charlie Kirk's legacy, emphasizing how his approach was effective, and what our job is now to carry on his mission in saving our country from the campus on today's episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” “He did not go in the traditional academic pathway. He dropped out of college at 18. And he had to live by his wits, not in the artificial bubble of academia or the la-la land of the campus, where there are no consequences to behavior. … He learned to organize and galvanize people in a practical way. “And he said, ‘The universities are training generation after generation after generation in this seriously dangerous leftist dogma.' In other words, if you're worried about this bizarre transgender movement, this cult-like effort to have biological men compete in women's sports, to take one example; or you're worried about the idea that you can steal $950 and not be prosecuted; or if you think that race is essential and not incidental to who you are—where did these things come from? And he said they came from the campus.”

Welcome back to The Smiling Homeschooler Podcast! Today, we're diving into a big question: Is college really the best path for everyone? In today's episode, Todd dives into the shocking evidence revealed by prosecutors in the case of Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin. Despite the immediate spin from some corners of social media claiming this was the work of a “MAGA extremist,” newly released text messages tell a very different story. The accused killer's own words paint the picture of a young man who had turned sharply to the political left, even clashing with his conservative Republican family.Todd walks listeners through the disturbing text exchanges between the alleged shooter and his transgender roommate-partner. These messages show the assassin plotting, justifying his actions as retaliation against “hatred,” and struggling with the fallout once his family quickly suspected his involvement. The evidence reveals not a conservative activist, but a leftist radical whose ideology fed his violence.Todd also challenges those who rushed to blame conservatives for Kirk's murder, reminding us that evil individuals can emerge from any group—but the real question is whether an ideology fuels violent behavior. He argues the rhetoric of the radical left, which demonizes conservatives as Nazis and threats to democracy, creates a climate that justifies violence.Later, Todd plays a fiery Senate exchange between Senator Cory Booker (“Spartacus”) and Kash Patel over the Epstein files, exposing the political theater and hypocrisy on display.Authentic, unapologetic, and always conservative—not bitter—this episode confronts the lies of the media and the dangerous propaganda of the left, while reminding listeners that the real fight is at the ballot box, in schools, and in the culture.Freedom Marketplace: https://freedommarketplace.net The Stack: https://www.toddhuffshow.com/stack-of-stuff Email: todd@toddhuffshow.comPhone: 317.210.2830Follow us on…Instagram: @toddhuffshowFacebook: The Todd Huff ShowTwitter: @toddhuffshowLinkedIn: The Todd Huff ShowTikTok: @toddhuffshowSupport Our Partners:https://www.toddhuffshow.com/partners Show Sponsors: https://www.mypillow.com/todd Promo Code: TODD Red, White, & Brand – Text TODD at 317-210-2830 for a 10% discount.SolTea – Heart health made simple. Drawing on Sheila's extensive research and books, they reveal historic patterns of manipulation, the infiltration of secret societies, and the role of the media in pushing false narratives. In Episode 176 of The Alan Sanders Show, host Alan Sanders dives into the stark contrast between how conservatives and the Left engage in political discourse. Conservatives focus on dismantling flawed policies with facts and reason, while Democrats and the mainstream media often resort to dehumanizing opponents, labeling them as "dangerous" or "threats to democracy." Alan explores how this tactic, reminiscent of Maoist rhetoric, fuels division and stifles debate and how the same parallels can be seen in our colleges today, which took place during Mao's “Cultural Revolution.” We learn about the shooter and know he was fueled to eliminate fascists. Tune in for a sharp analysis of why arguing substance matters and how personal attacks undermine a free society. You may have heard of organizations that start the process of building you up, by first breaking you down. Indoctrination requires the sacrifice of everything you walk through that door with. We're kicking off Season 7 of the Fresh Start Family Show with a powerful, thought-provoking conversation! Wendy & Terry sit down with theologian, writer, and former evangelical pastor Brian Recker to explore how fear has been woven into the spiritual and parenting narratives of so many families—and what it looks like to begin breaking free. Brian shares his personal journey from growing up in fundamentalism, to leading as a pastor, to courageously deconstructing fear-based theology and re-imagining faith through the lens of love. Together, we talk about how indoctrination in childhood shapes our view of God, authority, and even our parenting—and how we can begin to heal. This is an honest, heartfelt, and deeply hopeful conversation. If you've ever wrestled with reconciling your faith and your parenting, or wondered how to raise kids without passing down fear, this episode will leave you inspired and reminded that you're not alone. With over two billion followers worldwide, Christianity is the most popular religion in the world. For some, the preconception is ‘of course Christianity is the correct religious view', with so many people subscribing to it. For others, the preconception might be, ‘how is it possible that so many people believe in a religion defined by a historical event that nobody can prove?'. Because in contrast to many other religions and worldviews, Christianity is perhaps more predicated than any on a specific historical event – the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. So how does one, and two billion people for that matter, come to devote their life to Christianity, despite all the uncertainty that surrounds the nature of this world? John Stackhouse, author of 'Can I Believe?', joins the podcast. John Stackhouse's Websitehttps://www.johnstackhouse.com Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
