Welcome to the Triple P Life Podcast! In this episode, Dr. Jay LaGuardia welcomes Dr. Bradley Nelson, the author of the bestselling books "The Emotion Code" and "The Body Code," to discuss the often-overlooked emotional component of overall well-being. Dr. Nelson explains how unresolved emotions can become trapped in the body, leading to physical ailments, emotional distress, and hindering the healing process. They explore the concept of trapped emotions, the "emotional loop," and how the Emotion Code can help individuals identify and release this emotional baggage to improve their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Episode Takeaways: Emotional well-being is a crucial element of overall health, alongside physical and spiritual aspects. You cannot be truly well if you neglect your emotional state. Unresolved emotions can become "trapped" in the body as energy, potentially manifesting as physical pain, disease, or emotional issues like anxiety and depression. The "emotional loop" describes the normal processing of emotions, but sometimes this loop gets stuck open, leading to trapped emotions. The Emotion Code is a method developed by Dr. Nelson to identify and release these trapped emotional energies using muscle testing and intention. Releasing trapped emotions can lead to significant improvements in physical symptoms, emotional well-being, and even the ability to forgive and move on from past hurts. Dr. Nelson has found that a vast majority of physical pain and disease processes have an emotional component. The Body Code is a more comprehensive system that addresses six categories of imbalances affecting health: energies (including trapped emotions), pathogens, circuits and systems, misalignments, toxins, and nutrition and lifestyle. The subconscious mind acts like a powerful computer that can be accessed through muscle testing to identify underlying imbalances. Dr. Nelson is releasing a new book called "The Heart Code" focusing specifically on "heart walls," which are emotional energies trapped around the heart that can hinder connection and well-being. 00:00 - Introduction to Emotional Well-being 02:14 - Introducing Dr. Bradley Nelson 04:38 - The Computer, Prayer, and Chiropractic 07:12 - The Emotional Loop Explained 09:51 - Releasing Trapped Emotions with Magnets 12:15 - *Emotion Code*: A Deeper Dive 14:40 - Consciousness, Awareness, and Trauma 17:22 - Deleting Emotional Energy 19:45 - Emotional Baggage in Animals 21:58 - Emotional vs. Physical Issues 24:10 - Training Practitioners in the *Emotion Code* 26:35 - Limitations of Western Medicine 29:01 - The Body Code System 31:18 - Symptoms and Imbalances 33:33 - Common Conditions and Open Loops 35:50 - Vibrational Tone Scale and Emotions 38:14 - The Hot Air Balloon Analogy 40:37 - *Emotion Code* vs. *Body Code* 42:50 - The Heart Wall and the Heart Code 45:18 - The Six Imbalance Categories 47:30 - Wrap Up and Contact Information Find all things Triple P Life by visiting the website. They address questions about pedal stroke efficiency, power imbalances, setting goals for races, and VO2 max intervals. They provide insights and recommendations based on their experience as coaches and athletes. Keywords cycling, training, racing, pedal stroke, power imbalance, goals, VO2 max intervals Takeaways Having a power meter that measures both left and right power can help identify and address power imbalances in pedal stroke. For most athletes, a power imbalance of 48/52 or 52/48 is not a cause for concern. When setting goals for races, consider factors such as race distance, terrain, and competition level. Pacing strategies should be tailored to the specific race and individual capabilities. VO2 max intervals can be customized based on the type of rider and their specific energy system needs. Tabata-style workouts can be effective for improving VO2 max, but should be used strategically and not as the sole focus of training. Training plans should include a combination of race-specific intervals and general intensity workouts for optimal results. Consider individual factors such as fitness level, training history, and race goals when designing training plans. Experimentation and learning from mistakes are important for building race experience and improving performance. Titles Setting Goals for Races Customizing VO2 Max Intervals Sound Bites "What do you recommend to obtain a more even pedal stroke?" "It seems you're yearning for continuous lactate measurement." "How would you recommend her go about pacing for the first few races?"

Many people assume that hormone-related weight gain only affects menopausal women. Don't get me wrong—it does! However hormonal imbalances can sabotage weight loss for both men and women of all ages. If youfeel like your body is working against you, struggling with stubborn weight gain, fatigue, cravings, or mood swings, your hormones—not your willpower—maybe the real issue.Listen
We have a mashup episode today, exploring heart health during menopause and the benefits of hormone replacement therapy. In this episode, Dr. Felice Gersh dives into the role of estrogen in immune function, inflammation, and heart health. Dr. Deb Matthew highlights the importance of assessing cardiovascular risks and hormone balance in perimenopausal and menopausal women to optimize heart health and minimize reliance on statins. Join us as Dr. Matthew and Dr. Gersh share their insights on heart health, hormones, and menopause. Ep. 356: Menopause, Heart Health, and HRT with Dr. Felice Gersh [00:01:53] Dr. Gersh guides listeners in understanding and appreciating the impact of estrogen on immune function, inflammation, and the healing processes within the body. [49:33] Estradiol is vital for heart health, and its decline after menopause can lead to issues like stiffening of the heart, heart failure, and arrhythmias in women. Ep. 325 Menopausal Toolkit: Heart, Brain and Hormonal Health with Dr. Deb Matthew [00:01:30] Most women fear breast cancer more than heart disease, even though cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women. Yet, clinicians fail to talk enough about the effectiveness of hormone replacement therapy in mitigating the risk of heart disease during perimenopause and menopause. [00:04:04] While estrogen can benefit the cardiovascular health of women, the risks associated with oral estrogen and synthetic forms, including blood clots and artery plaque instability, have led to hesitancy in using hormone replacement therapy despite its potential long-term benefits when administered correctly. [00:11:26] The balance of hormones like testosterone, DHEA, and cortisol plays a crucial role in cardiovascular health. Imbalances, such as flat cortisol patterns due to stress, potentially increase the risk of heart disease. Dr. Matthew uses tests like coronary artery scans and coronary intima-media thickness to assess cardiovascular risk in patients before considering hormone replacement therapy. [00:20:22] Dr. Matthew emphasizes the importance of advanced lipid testing, addressing the nuances of cholesterol particle size and inflammation, balancing hormones, and optimizing thyroid and blood sugar levels to manage cardiovascular risk instead of immediately resorting to statins. Bio: Dr. Deb Matthew Dr. Deb Matthew MD, The Happy Hormones Doctor, is a best-selling author, international speaker, educator, wife, and mom of four boys. Is your metabolism really working against you? You've done all “the right things” like adjusting your diet and movement and still feel sluggish. Hormonal imbalances can play a massive role in metabolic dysfunction and even body composition. Your hormones regulate more than you might realize. Imbalances can lead to issues with your metabolism: fatigue and weight loss resistance. This isn't just about calories in versus calories out. It's about how your body processes, stores, and uses energy. For women especially, factors like stress, sleep, and digestive health can drastically alter metabolic processes. This resistance often happens because your fat cells aren't static. They're highly dynamic and responsive to hormones like estrogen and cortisol. If your body is under stress or storing excess hormones, your fat cells hold on tightly. This is why yo-ho dieting is so harmful! The female body is designed to prioritize survival. When you're stressed or underfed, your system may “freeze” metabolically, locking down fat storage and shifting away from building lean muscle. Even the most grueling workouts and restrictive diets can backfire in this state. So what can you do?? You can TEST! Since hormones are at the root of the symptoms, we need to see exactly what those hormones are doing. Unlike standard blood tests, which measure a mix of free and bound hormones, the DUTCH test gives a clearer picture of how your body is processing and utilizing hormones. For example: Is your body storing excess estrogen? Are your cortisol levels too low to support a healthy metabolism? If you suspect a metabolism or hormone imbalance, get your new year DUTCH test here: https://drbethwestie.com/dutch-hormone-testing/

Today I want to shine a spotlight on maca, a herb you've probably heard lots about in the wellness space, but for those of us with endo, it can be confusing to know if it's helpful or whether we should avoid it. Because maca can help us handle stress and burnout, I thought this busy time of year is a perfect opportunity to talk about it! Maca is an adaptogen herb, which means it helps our bodies to adapt to physical and emotional stressors. Maca does this by acting on the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis (HPA axis) to promote a more normalised stress response. The HPA axis is a system between our brain and adrenal glands that controls our stress response and our cortisol and adrenaline output. If you want to learn more about the HPA axis, I've linked to an episode in the show notes. Read more.
