We're Babashook we get to speak to writer / director Jennifer Kent for The Babadook 10th Anniversary and chat all things terrifying, how horror is deeply personal, and everyone's favorite spooky gentleman, Mr. 'dook. More about Jennifer Kent: Jennifer worked extensively as an actor in Australia before establishing her career as a writer/director. THE BABADOOK premiered at Sundance in 2014, and received over 100 nominations and awards internationally. Jennifer's second film THE NIGHTINGALE won the Jury Prize and the Marcello Mastroianni award at Venice Film Festival in 2018, as well as winning five Australian Academy (AACTA) Awards. Recently, she wrote and directed “The Murmuring,” an episode of the acclaimed Netflix anthology GUILLERMO DEL TORO'S CABINET OF CURIOSITIES. She has three feature films in development as well as two TV series. More about The Babadook: Six years after the violent death of her husband, Amelia (Essie Davis) is at a loss. She struggles to discipline her ‘out of control' 6 year-old, Samuel (Noah Wiseman), a son she finds impossible to love. Samuel's dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill them both. When a disturbing storybook called ‘The Babadook' turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he's been dreaming about. His hallucinations spiral out of control, he becomes more unpredictable and violent. Amelia, genuinely frightened by her son's behaviour, is forced to medicate him. But when Amelia begins to see glimpses of a sinister presence all around her, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may be real. Hi Weirdos! What an excellent day for an exorcism. Welcome to Week two of our horror movie series! Last week we talked about matters of the flesh--- slicing dicing (and even biting) with slashers and zombies. This week Ashley is starting us off with a discussion on movie MONSTERS. Monster movies are filled with allegories and metaphors; so from Cujo to the Babadook- we're going to be discussing the movies AND the creatures and how they mirrored our deepest darkest fears. Lauren takes us home with one of her favorite genres- DEMONS! The world often has an intense (and sometimes even severe) reaction to movies about demonic possession and that you may know. What you might not is that a lot of these movies represent real horrors happening in our world that do not have to do with heaven and hell. So grab your crucifix and get ready to RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!
Are you ready to be Babashook? This week, the Fang Girls review the childhood nightmare drama, The Babadook. Devyn and Emily recall attending a “costume party” dressed as a giant shark and aerobic instructor. Spoiler alert: the adults were not supposed to dress up. How Bababad does this spooky gent ruin the girls lives? Tune in to find out.
Get ready to get Babashook this week as Aryell and Allie play F**k, Marry, Get Killed By classic horror villains! Thanks for listening!

In the first segment of the show as usual Patrick tells us whats happening in the Horror world with the news. Up first is a awesome video titled "Babashook" which is a music video that gives the Babadook a Drag makeover. Then of course the most anticipated season of Rick and Morty will be coming out July 30th and we are so stoked to see what the creators have in store for us. Another bit of news is that Leatherface will be an exclusive DirecTV release on September 21, 2017, with a limited theatrical run and full VOD release potentially on October 20, 2017. The main discussion of the show is about The Roanoke Colony, founded by Sir John White in August of 1587. 115 English settlers arrived on the Island began colonizing the permanent English Settlement, ordered by Queen Elizabeth I. Later in that year, Sir White left Roanoke heading back to England, to replenish supplies, but upon returning there was a mighty naval battle between Spain and England and the Queen ordered all available ship to help fight. It wasn't until 1590 that Sir White finally returned to Roanoke, but upon returning, he saw no one. Insert spooky ghost noise here. There are many plausible theories as to what happened to those settlers who stayed behind, but of course we have to find the most ridiculous theories and talk about them. Some say the settlers resorted to Cannibalism, others say Aliens came and abducted them, in what would be the largest abduction in our history. But many simply do not have the answers and we will probably know what happened to those people. Later in the show, we have our Versus segment and this week it was the Patrick, the reigning champ against new comer Angel. Patrick was the Antichrist who gets stronger by drinking blood, and Angel had Carrie who multiplies when wet. We decided that the Antichrist wins this match, making Patrick 2-0. Remember to write us and tell us what you think of the show and tell us what you want us to talk about .
