A Prayer for a New Day Dawning with Stacey Thacker In motherhood, moments of silence are rare and most often linked to trouble. God's people waited in silence for 400 years. On today's episode of the Everyday Prayers Podcast, we look at how Luke 1 paints a picture of people sitting in darkness, waiting for God to speak again after 400 years of silence. Into this longing, Zechariah announces that the Sunrise from heaven is coming to bring light, salvation, and peace.Just as morning light overtakes the night without resistance, Jesus arrives as God’s tender mercy in human form, shining into despair and guiding His people toward peace. Laurana, without her consent, is made the Commander of the Knights of Solamnia. Despite her misgivings she accepts the assignment. As part of accepting her new responsibilities, and despite what her heart may want, she also lets go of her love for Tanis. She does not have the time and energy to pursue it and she believes he is lost to the Darkness.  Tas and Flint inspect the fortifications, worry about Laurana, and reveal their thoughts about Kitiara now that they know she is a Dragon Highlord.  The good dragons finally arrive! Gilthanas & Silvara come with them. We learn from them why the metallic dragons have not made themselves before now: the twisted machinations of Takhisis! But through the sacrifice of Gilthanas and Silvara they've finally come out of hiding to help. Gilthanas also knows about Tanis' indiscretions now and shares it with Laurana. Karl Ihfe begins the Advent season by examining the challenge of waiting, particularly how God's people waited 400 years between the Old Testament prophecies and the fulfillment of God's promise to send a Messiah. During this silence, many likely wondered if God had forgotten them or if His promises were merely myths. Yet God's "impossible plan" unfolded through ordinary people—a young girl named Mary and a carpenter named Joseph—who chose to believe despite the impossibility of their situation. The sermon highlights how Mary and Joseph "borrowed courage" by remembering God's faithfulness throughout history. When the angel declared, "nothing is impossible with God" (Luke 1:37), it was an invitation to remember how God had worked impossibly throughout Scripture—from Abraham and Sarah's child in old age to the parting of the Red Sea. As we celebrate Advent, we too are invited to hope in the seemingly impossible promise of Christ's return, remembering that the God who fulfilled His promise in the first coming will be faithful to complete what He started. https://bwaychurch.org

We, and Raistlin, meet Astinus of Palanthas, the immortal chronicler of the world of Krynn and keeper of Palanthas's library. Raistlin's escape to Palanthas worked though it has left him very weak and close to death. He hopes to find a means to save his life within the library. Raistlin struggles to find what he seeks, near death he is visited by Astinus. Their conversation inadvertently reveals to the young wizard that he is not alone, and leaves Astinus troubled. Laurana, Tas, and Flint are also in Palanthas, Tas even saw Raistlin arrive but does not realize it. Tanis and Company aboard the Perechon are pursued by dragons. It turns out Kitiara isn't happy about how Tanis left. Tanis is still trying to convince the rest of the Companions that he didn't betray them. They seem skeptical now and that feeling will only grow. The ship, in vain, attempts to escape but only ends up being drawn into the Maelstrom at the heart of the Blood Sea. Tanis hopes, in vain, that Kit will not recognize Berem. Raistlin does recognize Kit. Tanis comes clean. It is not pretty. Despite the madness of the storm Kitiara continues to pursue them, Tanis asks for forgiveness. Many secrets are revealed. Raistlin abandons the rest of the party. Tanis and the remaining Companions are seemingly lost in the great whirlpool at the heart of the Blood Sea. This special episode of The Point of Everything pays tribute to the late Eoin French aka Talos, who passed away in August 2024 at the age of 36. A brilliant musician, Talos released three albums - Wild Alee in 2017, Far Out Dust in 2019, and Dear Chaos in 2022 - as well as a posthumous EP with Atli Orvarsson called Sun Divider and posthumous album with Olafur Arnalds, entitled A Dawning. He was also part of the Sounds from a Safe Harbour team. At this year's festival, the opening concert Remembering Talos brought friends, collaborators, and family together at Cork Opera House. In this episode, you'll hear memories of Eoin and reflections on his artistry from Loah, Christof Van Der Ven, Sam McNicholl, Ye Vagabonds, Nick Raynor, and Brian Dillon. Why are we here? How do we think? What is the nature of life? What are the boundaries between ourselves and the rest of the living web—between ourselves and the rest of the universe across space and through time…and in the timeless, formless place from which everything arises?These are the big, foundational questions of our existence, and how we answer them shapes how we see ourselves and our relationship to everything around us. If we work on a human supremacist frame, then we have no qualms about destroying the rest of the living web. If we know ourselves to be integral to it, if we can 'prove' this at a scientific level, then perhaps we can shift the way we behave. Dr James Cooke is an author, researcher and host of the Living Mirrors Podcast which is how I got to know him. He has three degrees from Oxford, including a PhD in neuroscience. He has been conducting research into the brain basis of consciousness and at the University of London, he achieved a theoretical breakthrough that linked philosophy, the latest in cognitive neuroscience and modern secular mysticism. The tension is further heightened when Tanis demands they all leave as soon as possible the next morning. After arguing with the Captain of the Maquesta, Tanis and Company sail out of Flotsam. Kit finds Tanis' break-up note as soon as she returns and handles that about how you'd expect her to.
