Passage: 4 The riffraff among them had a strong craving for other food. The Israelites wept again and said, “Who will feed us meat? 5 We remember the free fish we ate in Egypt, along with the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic. 6 But now our appetite is gone; there's nothing to look at but this manna! ” 10 Moses heard the people, family after family, weeping at the entrance of their tents. The Lord was very angry; Moses was also provoked. 11 So Moses asked the Lord, “Why have you brought such trouble on your servant? Why are you angry with me, and why do you burden me with all these people? 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth so you should tell me, ‘Carry them at your breast, as a nursing mother carries a baby,' to the land that you swore to give their ancestors? 13 Where can I get meat to give all these people? For they are weeping to me, ‘Give us meat to eat! ' 14 I can't carry all these people by myself. They are too much for me. 15 If you are going to treat me like this, please kill me right now if I have found favor with you, and don't let me see my misery anymore.” 16 The Lord answered Moses, “Bring me seventy men from Israel known to you as elders and officers of the people. Take them to the tent of meeting and have them stand there with you. 17 Then I will come down and speak with you there. I will take some of the Spirit who is on you and put the Spirit on them. They will help you bear the burden of the people, so that you do not have to bear it by yourself. 24 Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord. He brought seventy men from the elders of the people and had them stand around the tent. 25 Then the Lord descended in the cloud and spoke to him. He took some of the Spirit who was on Moses and placed the Spirit on the seventy elders. As the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they never did it again. 26 Two men had remained in the camp, one named Eldad and the other Medad; the Spirit rested on them — they were among those listed, but had not gone out to the tent — and they prophesied in the camp. 27 A young man ran and reported to Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.” 28 Joshua son of Nun, assistant to Moses since his youth, responded, “Moses, my lord, stop them! ” 29 But Moses asked him, “Are you jealous on my account? If only all the Lord's people were prophets and the Lord would place his Spirit on them! ” 30 Then Moses returned to the camp along with the elders of Israel. -- Numbers 11:4-6,10-17,24-29 Song: The Lord Will Provide (https://open.spotify.com/track/6hphIUnmvXPPydnr8kZnGf?si=253c0eafab3e4310) by Brett Younker, Chris Davenport, and Jess Cates Lyrics: Look at the flowers In all of their beauty I don't have to wonder You know what You're doing So why would I worry at all You're faithful to supply Everything I need Everything I need My Father has it My Father has it Every single time The Lord will provide My Father has it Look at the sparrow Lacking for nothing No fear of tomorrow And what it will bring If I have You I have enough 'Cause Your love will satisfy Seek first the kingdom and its treasures Everything else it will be added All that I'm needing I know the Lord will provide I know my God's not empty handed He gives us blessings upon blessings I'm still believing I know the Lord will provide Prayer: Be joyful in the Lord, all you lands. Serve the Lord with gladness, and come before his presence with a song. Be sure that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. O go your way into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Be thankful to him, and speak good of his name. For the Lord is gracious, his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures from generation to generation. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.  -Book of Common Prayer (1552)

Passage: 1 “Carefully follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase, and may enter and take possession of the land the Lord swore to your ancestors. 2 Remember that the Lord your God led you on the entire journey these forty years in the wilderness, so that he might humble you and test you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 3 He humbled you by letting you go hungry; then he gave you manna to eat, which you and your ancestors had not known, so that you might learn that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. 4 Your clothing did not wear out, and your feet did not swell these forty years. 5 Keep in mind that the Lord your God has been disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son. 6 So keep the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him. 7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with streams, springs, and deep water sources, flowing in both valleys and hills; 8 a land of wheat, barley, vines, figs, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey; 9 a land where you will eat food without shortage, where you will lack nothing; a land whose rocks are iron and from whose hills you will mine copper. 10 When you eat and are full, you will bless the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. -- Deuteronomy 8:1-10 (CSB) Song: The Lord Will Provide by Brett Younker, Chris Davenport, and Jess Cates Lyrics: Look at the flowers In all of their beauty I don't have to wonder You know what You're doing So why would I worry at all You're faithful to supply Everything I need Everything I need My Father has it My Father has it Every single time The Lord will provide My Father has it (My Father has it) Look at the sparrow Lacking for nothing No fear of tomorrow And what it will bring If I have You I have enough 'Cause Your love will satisfy Seek first the kingdom and its treasures Everything else it will be added All that I'm needing I know the Lord will provide I know my God's not empty handed He gives us blessings upon blessings I'm still believing I know the Lord will provide Prayer: Accept, we beseech you, our . . . thanksgiving, O you fountain of all good, who has led us in safety through the length of the day; who daily blesses us with so many temporal mercies and has given us the hope of resurrection to eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. On today's Friday edition, we chat with Kristian Stanfill of Passion Music! From its start in 1995 Passion has been rooted in the truth of Isaiah 26:8 – “Yes Lord, walking in the way of Your truth we wait eagerly for You, for Your name and Your renown are the desire of our hearts” - existing to glorify God by uniting students in worship, prayer and justice for spiritual awakening in this generation. Passion believes that worship and justice go hand in hand, so students arrive ready to give. They give toward the END IT Movement, fighting against modern day slavery and this year Passion also called students to give toward Share Light – a campaign to see the Bible translated into the 6,000 known languages of the world during this generation's lifetime. Passion has encountered millions of students and 18-25 year-olds, young people whose lives have been transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.   One of the most impactful and stirring aspects of the movement founded by Louie and Shelley Giglio has been the sea of voices uniting together to lift up the name of Jesus. Passion, currently helmed by Kristian Stanfill, Brett Younker and Melodie Malone, has ushered in the writing, recording and leading of some of the most recognizable and unforgettable worship anthems of this generation. Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Crowder, Christy Nockels and more have also lent their voices alongside Passion throughout the years.   With more than 2 million units sold and a multitude of chart-topping singles such as “Glorious Day,” “Build My Life,” “God, You're So Good,” “How Great Is Our God,” “God Of This City,” “One Thing Remains,” “Even So Come,” and “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord),” listeners across the world continue to be impacted by the music of Passion. Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. 33 But turning around and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said,“Get behind me, Satan! You are not thinking about God's concerns but human concerns.” 34 Calling the crowd along with his disciples, he said to them,“If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. 35 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of me and the gospel will save it. 36 For what does it benefit someone to gain the whole world and yet lose his life? 37 What can anyone give in exchange for his life? 38 For whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” -- Mark 8:31-38 (CSB) Musical Reflection: Children of the Heavenly Father (TRYGGARE KAN INGEN VARA), trad. Swedish folk song Reflection Notes: Lina Sandell-Berg purportedly wrote the lyrics for this hymn after witnessing her father's untimely death in a boating accident. Her text focuses on our heavenly Father, who will never leave us or forsake us, in life or in death. The tune originates from a 19th-century Swedish folk song, its sweet fluidity well-suited for the words of comfort. Prayer: Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities that may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts that may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Opening Song: My Heart Is Yours (https://open.spotify.com/track/3vVmDL9AzscCYd0YF7gWf5?si=e23042fd8d3f489c) by Brett Younker, Daniel Carson, Jason Ingram, Judson Van DeVenter, Kristian Stanfill, and Winfield Scott Weeden Lyrics: I give you my life I give You my trust Jesus And You are my God And You are enough Jesus My heart is Yours my heart is Yours Take it all take it all My life in Your hands My heart is Yours (Lord) my heart is Yours Take it all take it all My life in Your hands I lay down my life I take up my cross Jesus For You are my God Whatever the cost Jesus O Jesus And all to Jesus I surrender All to You I freely give Oh I will ever love and trust You In Your presence I will live I just want to be with You I just want to be with You Lord we just want to be with You Lord we just want to be with You Oh wherever You are and wherever You're going Lord wherever You are and wherever You're going Oh take us with You oh take us with You Oh wherever You're going I just want to be with You Passage: 34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 40 “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. 41 The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward. 42 And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.” (Matthew 10:34–42 ESV) Musical Reflection: All to Jesus I Surrender (SURRENDER) by Winfield S. Weeden Reflection Notes: This tune was originally intended to have two-part harmonies on the verse and four-part harmonies of the refrain; the additional harmonic fullness adds to the repeated emphasis of the words “I surrender all.” Prayer: O Lord Jesus Christ, Good Shepherd of the sheep, who came to seek the lost and to gather them to your fold, have compassion on those who have wandered from you; feed those who hunger, cause the weary to lie down in your pastures, bind up those who are broken in heart and strengthen those who are weak, that we, relying on your care and being comforted by your love, may abide in your guidance to our lives' end; for your name's sake. Amen. -Anonymous, Taken from Ancient Christian Devotional

Selah 20 Our God is a God of salvation, and to GOD, the Lord, belong deliverances from death. (Psalm 68:1–20 ESV) Musical Reflection: Piano Sonata No. 16 in C Major, K. 545: II. Andante by W. A. Mozart Reflection Notes: In true fashion for Mozart's middle movements, this Andante blooms slowly with gentle and delicate notes; the melody ascends in joyful fashion at the most climactic points before settling back down with the satisfying left hand harmonies. Prayer: Almighty God, give us wisdom to perceive you, intellect to understand you, diligence to seek you, patience to wait for you, eyes to behold you, a heart to meditate on you and life to proclaim you, through the power of the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ. -Attributed to Benedict of Nursia

As we finish this week on living an abundant life, today we'll explore where we're placing our priorities, hopes, fears, and affections. God doesn't want us to spend our days waiting for heaven, but instead wants to shift our perspective to see that eternity has already begun. Though we spend our days on earth, they matter immensely. And nothing is wasted or pointless in the eyes of God. So how would he have us spend our days? Our Scripture for today comes from Ecclesiastes 3:11, and today's worship is Build My Life by Passion featuring Brett Younker. First15 is a daily devotional written and recorded by Craig Denison.
