Surviving 9/11: A Story of Providence, Courage & RemembranceIn this week's Team Never Quit Podcast, Marcus and Melanie meet with Daniel Geraghty, who shares his deeply personal and harrowing account of surviving the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.Daniel was a newlywed, transitioning from military life into the corporate world, and working near the World Trade Center. On that September morning, he was preparing to make his way to Tower 2 for business. A seemingly insignificant series of delays—including an unexpected breakfast with his mother-in-law and spilled coffee on his shirt and tie—changed the course of his life. Those few extra minutes meant Daniel was not inside the South Tower when it was struck at 9:03 a.m.When Daniel emerged from the subway near the World Trade Center, he encountered chaos unlike anything he had ever experienced. Sirens filled the streets. Paper rained through lower Manhattan. Looking toward the Towers, Daniel witnessed the North Tower engulfed in fire and people desperately signaling from above. Then the second plane struck.Daniel recalls the tremendous fireball, the concussion, flying debris, and thousands of people running for their lives. Believing he might die, he still found himself unable to ignore a woman who had fallen in the stampede—until another stranger appeared, lifted her from the street, and carried her to safety. It is an image of humanity and courage that has remained with Daniel ever since.Daniel's story is more than an eyewitness account of one of America's darkest days. It is a powerful reflection on survival, providence, service, courage, and the weight of being given another day. For thousands, September 11 remains a story preserved only in remembrance. Daniel knows how close he came to becoming one of them—and why he remains profoundly grateful that his own story continued. In This Episode, You'll Hear: The seemingly ordinary delay Daniel believes saved his life. His transition from the Army into corporate life in New York City. What Daniel witnessed as he emerged from the subway near the World Trade Center. His firsthand account of the moments before and after the second plane struck. The internal struggle between his military instinct to run toward danger and the realization that he needed to get away. The unforgettable acts of courage and humanity Daniel witnessed in the streets. The emotional burden carried by those who survived. Daniel's reflections on gratitude, remembrance, and why September 11 must never be forgotten. This is an intense, moving conversation about a day that changed America forever—and one man's extraordinary experience of being just minutes away from a very different fate.Listen in as Daniel Geraghty takes Marcus and Melanie back to September 11, 2001, sharing what he saw, what he survived, and the moments that continue to live with him more than two decades later.Support Dan:- IG: https://www.instagram.com/dan_getready?igsi=c2R3MjlhN2p0OWg3- Order his book here —> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MJTCQKD?ref_=cm_sw_r_ffobk_cso_cp_mwn_dp_4245V5E8YA3SXW7RTZG4&bestFormat=trueSupport TNQ - IG: team_neverquit , marcusluttrell , melanieluttrell , huntero13 - https://www.patreon.com/teamneverquitSponsors: - Navyfederal.org - Dripdrop.com/TNQ- vinted.com/TNQ - davidprotein.com/TNQ- quo.com/TNQ - mengotomars.com [Team Never Quit] - bubsnaturals.com [Promo code TNQ] - mizzenandmain.com [Promo code: TNQ20] - masterclass.com/TNQ - ShopMando.com [Promo code: TNQ] - Tractorsupply.com/hometownheroes - meetfabiric.com/TNQ - Prizepicks (TNQ) - armslist.com/TNQ - PXGapparel.com/TNQ - bruntworkwear.com/TNQ - shipsticks.com/TNQ - stopboxusa.com {TNQ} - Tonal.com [TNQ] - greenlight.com/TNQ - drinkAG1.com/TNQ - Hims.com/TNQ

What happens when you can't find the words for what you've been through? For Liliana Del Vedova, photography became a way to express what words couldn't. In this episode, David and Liliana talk about grief, trauma, healing, and why people sometimes don't need someone to fix them or tell them how to move forward. Sometimes they simply need to feel seen. Liliana shares how her own difficult experiences led her to healing arts and how she now uses analog photography and the darkroom to help others process experiences that can be difficult to explain. They talk about why grief doesn't follow a timetable, the shame people sometimes carry about how they're feeling, and why healing doesn't necessarily mean moving on. This is a conversation about making space for what we carry—and allowing ourselves to be where we are. For David's book, other resources and more visit www.davidedey.com

Alan Philps profiles A.T. Cholerton, the "grand old man" of Moscow correspondents, who lived in a shambolic apartment and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the Soviet experiment. Having witnessed the show trials and purges, he was eventually barred from returning to the USSR after a trip to Britain because he "knew too much" and briefed inexperienced reporters on the grim reality behind the scenes. His translator and mistress, Natalia, paid the price for their association; she was arrested and sentenced to ten years in the Gulag on fabricated espionage charges involving her husband, a factory engineer. Cholerton, fearing that any public statement would further endanger her, remained silenced for the rest of his life. Although Natalia survived her sentence, the two never spoke again to ensure her safety in post-Stalin Russia. Philps notes that under the NKVD, an arrest almost inevitably led to a conviction without a fair trial. (1)1902
Dr. Mitchell continues from his last lesson here in Luke 9:27-36. Here Luke writes of the transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ on what most believe to be Mount Hermon, northeast of Galilee. Luke lists three disciples, Peter, John and James in this name order. In the Gospels of Matthew and Mark it is different Peter himself speaks of Jesus' transfiguration in 2 Peter 1:16-21. Being one of the eyewitnesses of His majesty, he writes to declare that they had not followed cleverly devise myths but were personally present with Jesus when he was transfigured. But Peter goes on to admonish us that we have a more sure and certain reality of the truth in the divinely inspired Word of God which has greater authority than any personal experience of this kind. Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Luke 9:27.

Welcome to the Grief Series, a collection of conversations about the grief woven throughout our lives with some extraordinary women && men bringing their raw, vulnerable stories to the mic. I hope you see yourself somewhere in these stories.---This is episode 200 and I knew I had to make it count. I brought on my favorite person in the world, my husband Jake, for the most honest conversation we've ever had on record. We went into his grief around identity and purpose when I was the breadwinner, the resentment he carried for years, what it actually costs to be the supportive one, && what had to die in both of us for our marriage to become what it is today. This one is for every ambitious woman who has ever wondered what her partner is really carrying && every man who has never had the language to say it out loud.TOPICS WE EXPLOREJake's identity crisis when I became the primary breadwinnerThe grief of losing your sense of purpose and provider identityResentment he buried for years and what it actually looked likeHow my ambition triggered his comparison and jealousyWhat I had to stop doing for him to step into who he wanted to beWhy slowing down in my business saved our marriageThe hyper-independence that was costing me the partnership I wantedWhat Jake sees when nobody's watchingWhat ambitious women get wrong about their husbandsTHE POINTSometimes the grief inside a marriage is a man who doesn't know how to say he feels purposeless. Sometimes it's a woman who's so busy holding everything that she never leaves room to be held. He showed up to this conversation with zero prep && more honesty than most people manage in a lifetime of therapy. It is a curious thing that we often expect God to perform His greatest wonders amid thunder and spectacle, while He prefers the quiet of a confessional. There, behind an ordinary screen or across a simple room, Christ performs miracles no less astonishing than opening blind eyes or raising the dead. He takes a soul bent beneath the weight of guilt and bids it stand upright again. He speaks through the frail voice of a priest, yet it is His own word that breaks the chains no human hand could loosen. The penitent enters carrying a burden invisible to the world and leaves with a heart made lighter than the morning. Such miracles seldom make the news because they occur where heaven most delights to work—in secret. Yet if we could see with God's eyes, we might discover that the greatest marvels on earth are not always the healing of the body, but the resurrection of a soul. --- Help Spread the Good News --- Father Brian's homilies are shared freely thanks to generous listeners like you. In this solo episode of Wild & Waking, Emily is coming to you from the very real, very human middle of summer with four kids, four months postpartum, big feelings, low capacity, and a whole lot of “everything is fine, I'm fine… but also what is happening?” This listener-inspired Q&A came from questions and reflections shared by clients and women inside Emily's group programs around support, community, ritual, purpose, deconstruction, and what it means to keep waking up in the middle of everyday life.Together, we explore the tension of wanting more without losing gratitude for the life you already have. Emily speaks into the ache so many women feel when they know there is more joy, purpose, alignment, creativity, community, and soul-filled living available to them, while also navigating motherhood, work, caregiving, burnout, postpartum, summer chaos, and real-life responsibilities. This episode is an honest look at the messy middle of personal growth, where you can feel deeply grateful and wildly restless, grounded and overwhelmed, alive and completely maxed out. This conversation also moves into the avalanche of awakening: the way questioning one belief, role, relationship dynamic, or inherited expectation can suddenly lead to questioning everything. Marriage, motherhood, work, religion, identity, social structures, spirituality, and the past versions of ourselves who did not know what we know now all come into view. Emily speaks to the grief of waking up, the tenderness of honoring who you used to be, and the truth that you mature into your intuition, your knowing, your spirituality, and your next becoming. This episode is for the woman in the in-between; the one holding the tension, craving more, trying to stay connected to her mission and values while the world feels heavy, and learning how to build sacredness into the ordinary moments of her life. It is a reminder that you do not have to have it all figured out to be on the journey. You deserve to be witnessed, supported, and carried through your becoming. In this episode, I explore:The tension of being in the messy middle of personal growth, motherhood, postpartum, and identity evolutionWhat it means to want more while still feeling deeply grateful for the life you already haveNavigating the in-between season when you are expanding, but do not yet have the capacity, clarity, or energy to move forwardThe reality of postpartum emotions, panic, grief, rage, overwhelm, and learning to trust the season you are inWhy spiritual awakening, personal growth, and deconstruction often feel disorienting instead of clean or linearThe power of being witnessed, supported, and held in your healing journeyThe loneliness of wanting deeper conversations, soul-level friendships, and in-person communityHow to find or create spaces where your truth, growth, and spiritual evolution can safely landHolding the desire for more joy, purpose, alignment, creativity, money, community, and soul-filled living without falling into the trap of constant strivingReclaiming your connection to intuition, purpose, mission, values, and embodied truth when the world feels heavyThe grief of waking up and realizing what past versions of yourself did not know yetHonoring the women you used to be instead of shaming yourself for not knowing soonerWhat it means to mature into your intuition, your spirituality, your knowing, and your becomingMaking peace with being in the middle instead of rushing to fix, solve, perform, or rise immediatelyBe sure to hit subscribe so you never miss the latest episode!Connect with Emily:Website: www.EmilyReuschel.comInstagram: @emilyreuschelFacebook: Emily ReuschelLinkedIn: Emily ReuschelJoin my Book Insiders List: Sign up here!Resources and Links:Sign up here to get the inside scoop to my book writing journey!Book me as a speaker for your next event - email inquiries to emilyreuschel@gmail.com or schedule a call hereWild & Waking – Produced by Jill Carr Podcasting | Learn More

Michael McFaul reflects on the collapse of the Soviet Union, recalling his time in Moscow in 1991 when he witnessed the transition from Gorbachev's reforms to Yeltsin's revolutionary phase. He argues that while the United States rightly supported Yeltsin, policymakers were too complacent, assuming democracy would consolidate organically without significant external investment. This "end of history" mentality led to a lack of political and economic support during Russia's vulnerable early years of independence. McFaul notes that failing to provide robust assistance to liberal reformers allowed for the eventual rise of Vladimir Putin. (3)1906
